The results of the Command & Conquer 4 Name the Unit Contest to find a new name for the Forgotten Mutant Bus are in. It will now be called "Forgotten Scrapbus".
Here's the announcement from APOC, posted on the Official C&C Forums. QUOTE Well, this certainly went through a lot of deliberation, let me tell you. But after scoping through thousands of names, we've landed at the one we think makes sense from a gameplay and fictional standpoint. The Forgotten Mutant Bus will now be known as the Forgotten Scrapbus At the end of the day, this name choice was a fine line between something that is easy to remember and understand on the battlefield, and something that works with the fiction and visuals of the unit. Thanks for playin! -APOC Click here for the original thread. Its also worth mentioning that all winners to find the Scrapbus, Ironback, and Tiberian Twilight names will be granted Command & Conquer 4 beta access tomorrow. -------------------- |

Hmm, yes, this contest was well worth the time and effort. It must have taken a lot of ingenuity and linguistic tricks to come up with a clever name like 'Scrapbus'...
Reap your rewards guiltlessly, winners, you certainly proved yourselves worthy of honor and glory on this one. Good to see that when the EALA developers need to, they can always rely on their fans to come up with the best names for their units. Oh, I fell down a pit... no, this is pretty deep, it must be a chasm. I was confused by that sign at the edge that said 'Beware of Sar', but now I see I have gotten myself stuck in the Sar Chasm. -------------------- |

My sarcasm to English translator doesn't appear to working Nmenth, could you explain what your talking about. Are you criticising the name "Scrapbus"? The fans who suggested it? Or the devs for picking it? -------------------- |

Are you criticising the name "Scrapbus"? The fans who suggested it? Or the devs for picking it? The choice to use the bus unit for the contest, mainly. I think it is obviously a bad unit to have a contest over when the winning entry is 'Scrapbus'. These naming contests have been a joke, and I think this one pretty much proves that. It would probably be best, if in the future EALA wanted to have another contest, they figure out something other than fans naming things for it. -------------------- |

This is a joke, right? Might as well call it the short bus or something that sounds even more better and more comical than this.

A bus made with scrap to call it Scrapbus? I wonder this is named after EAShortbus? This is supposed to be a Battle Bus, not a bus with weapons that are scrap. Sorry, I did not like the name after all.

I think it's a fitting name and I'm just glad it wasn't something much worse. It's assembled from various found and recovered scrap, hence the name.

Boy, that one is a hard name to think of, Skipper. I win the name or not, I still can't think of a good name for this unit. At least the Gorilla contest we had last time is much easier than this one.

Nmenth it's honestly not such a big deal, its just a name. As I've said, it's not the name itself I have a problem with, it's that they had a contest to name a unit so insignificant that something like 'Scrapbus' was the best entry. -------------------- |

(insert cut-and-paste comment about why-not-just-call-it-the-forgotten-bus!) The Forgotten Bus or Mutant Bus is way to generic for a name. As I've said, it's not the name itself I have a problem with, it's that they had a contest to name a unit so insignificant that something like 'Scrapbus' was the best entry. Think of it this way, it really all about community involvement. -------------------- |

Think of it this way, it really all about community involvement. I do realize that, but they are doing a poor job of it. Community involvement is fine, but these contests are pretty weak. -------------------- |

Scrapbus? Scrapper sounded cooler and less generic. Well I suppose it was either this or "Battle Bus" - which would have been cooler.
