German C&C site, CnC-welten.de, has posted a new interview that they had with EALA designer, Jason Bender. It covers a lot about Command & Conquer 4 as well as a few other interesting things. One really notable bit of news from this interview is the fact that sandstorms will appear in some of the maps. Here is a sample from the interview.
QUOTE CnC-welten.de: What happens if the community doesn't like a design at all, as an example the Nod Avatar? Will you overwork these or why did you overwork the Avatar? Jason Bender: We try to address the issues that the community is most vocal about. Mostly it comes down to time. The more time we have, the more we can fix. CnC-welten.de: Many complain about the new design - they regard it as to bright and colourful - why didn't you choose a design that was as dark as its predecessor? Jason Bender: There are a few reasons for this, but two in particular stand out. First, we felt that we could make the game look more vivid and appealing if we updated the effects. Personally, I like the way it turned out, but for some people it is tough to make the transition from a game you've been playing for a while to a new and radically different visual style. The second reason is for combat clarity. We found that it was very difficult to tell what was going on when 10 people battled in the same area, so we tuned the visual affects to clarify the combat. Click here for full the interview in English. It can also been read in German. -------------------- |

QUOTE Jason Bender: First, we felt that we could make the game look more vivid and appealing if we updated the effects. It could only be better than the first one. I just think that whether it fits the rest of the Nod design is a bit more important than making kids think "TRANSFORMERS!!" and buy the game. But that's just me -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE Jason Bender: We try to address the issues that the community is most vocal about. Mostly it comes down to time. The more time we have, the more we can fix. I highly doubt about that. Because of deadlines, there's so little time of development and few lesser times to fix problems. It's unlikely that many of the fixes, problems and re-doing designs in C&C4 are resolved or can be resolved. |
