  1. The recently released Command & Conquer - Free to Play Developer Diary called "Beyond the Battle" included a collection of artwork revealing some of the new Generals. In case you missed them, here they are, taken from HD version of the trailer. We don't have names for these Generals just yet, so give us your best guesses as to who you think is Airforce General, Tank General etc....
  2. The first in a series of developer diaries for Command & Conquer - Free to Play, titled "Beyond the Battle" has been released through IGN. In this video, the developers discuss their aims with the new Command & Conquer game and compare it with the oldies. This episode features Sam Bass, Chris Tamburrino, Jeremy Townsend, Jason Savopolos, Jon Van Caneghem and Louis Castle. You can also see the reveal of four new generals. The same video can be found on IGN right here.
  3. Victory Games has talked about the strong possibility of singleplayer and co-op campaigns for Command & Conquer - Free to Play. The development team told us this during the Community Summit trip last December, the team would like make singleplayer content when the time is right and if the fans want it. Well, we know the fans want it, so based on what CnC-Inside.de has found in the recent Development Diary video, perhaps Victory Games is working on some APA singleplayer and/or co-op campaigns right now. You can see on the middle screen the file names "CP_APA_Mission_1_1_50" and "APA_Dubai_Campaign", which have been highlighted in the screenshot. Credit to CnC-Inside.de for spotting this.
  4. GameIndustry International has posted an article summing up EA's upcoming games and their approximate release dates. While mentioning that some of them, including the new Command & Conquer, will be shown at E3 this June, they state that the game will be powered by DICE's new Frostbite 3 engine that should have its premiere in the upcoming Battlefield 4. Click here to see the full article. It looks like we'll get to see the big upgrade in just a month's time, which makes one wonder how do they create new engines at such speed...
  5. The first Command & Conquer - Free to Play developer diary video is expected to be made available later this week, according to this post on the Official C&C Facebook page. And apparently it will include a very special surprise guest! Can you guess who it will be? So check back later this week to watch the latest developer diary video and learn more about the new Command & Conquer.
  6. It's time for a new poll, the old one was up for way too long. Usually a CNCNZ.com poll covers something that is happening in the news, but for this one we are doing something different. Let's have a Mammoth Tank Battle! Which one is your all time favourite? The Mammoth Tank has been present in every Command & Conquer game regardless of its name. There is always a large, heavily armoured tank with its signature twin cannons and quad tank treads. Do you like the old school Mammoth Tank from original games like Command & Conquer and Red Alert, or perhaps you're more of an Apocalypse Tank fan from Red Alert 2 or 3? And if you really must be different, maybe you think the Overlord Tank from C&C Generals is the best? The APA Overlord Tank is there as well. It should be noted that this poll is only for the traditional Mammoth Tanks, no room for the special variations like the Mammoth Mk. II from Tiberian Sun. If you are reading this update on the main page, just look to your right and vote in the poll box. If you are reading this via the forums, click here to cast your vote. And, as always, don't forget to share any feedback or comments about this poll as well. Here are the results of our previous poll, What are you looking forward to the most in the C&C F2P Beta? Overall 70% of those who voted, just want to finally see the game. The full results of this poll can be found right here.
  7. On Twitter, Chase Boyajin, cinematographer, editor and motion graphic artist at EA in Los Angeles, announced that he is working on new trailers for EA's upcoming games for this year's E3 event, notably Dragon Age 3 and the next Command & Conquer game, which implies the game will be featured at E3 2013, from June 11 through to June 13, 2013. Click here to see all of Chase's recent tweets.
  8. After a week's delay, the first instalment of Ask a Developer has arrived, and Art Director Chris Tamburrino is the first of the Victory Games' developers to answer the fan-submitted questions. Included with the questions are many new concept images of units and environments. Here's part of the interview and some of the new art.... More artwork can be found inside our gallery. You can read the full Ask a Developer interview with Art Director Chris Tamburrino right here.
  9. Ask a Developer has returned. Now is your chance to submit your questions to the Command & Conquer development team. Each Ask a Developer round will be focused on a person that represents one of key development team departments. And first up is Art Director Chris Tamburrino. Here's some information about about him. You can ask your art related questions in this thread on the Official C&C Forums, on official Facebook page or on Twitter using #askCNC.
  10. A new Command & Conquer - Free to Play preview has been posted by PC Gamer. The preview is based on some "hands on" time that PC Gamer had recently. It doesn't really give us much in terms of new information, though, but there's a glimmer of hope for the would be modders. Here's a part of it. Click here for the full preview.
  11. Here's another Command & Conquer - Free to Play video interview. Again, this one is with Senior Development Director, Tim Morten and covers basically the same subjects as past video interviews. The subtitles are in Spanish, but the interview is in English. As mentioned, it doesn't really give us anything new, but it's still good if you are new to the Command & Conquer - Free to Play scene.
  12. The latest episode of EA's PWNED show features a look at the new Command & Conquer. Sian Welby chats to Tim Morten who explains how each faction has its own base units and structures that comprise it, but the idea behind the generals is to customise those even further. For instance the laser general grants a faction laser tanks and turrets, whilst other generals specialise in toxin, stealth, or tanks. The toxin general is more about causing damage over an area and over time, whilst lasers by contrast will have more potency in direct head to head combat. The stealth general, on the other hand, focuses on getting the player behind enemy lines. Watch it below. Some of the information is new but unfortunately there is no new gameplay footage in this video. The video and article was originally posted here.
  13. Here's the final comparison image from Privatejfx141 and the Command & Conquer Wiki. This one compares the units of the Global Liberation Army (GLA) in the new Command & Conquer, and in the original C&C Generals. Don't forget to check out the comparison images for the European Union (EU)/USA and the Asian Pacific Alliance (APA)/China.
  14. Privatejfx141 from the Command & Conquer Wiki created this great comparison image of the APA in the new Command & Conquer, showcasing the differences between the original Chinese units and new Generals units. It's similar to his Generals & C&C - Free to Play Unit Comparison Wallpaper we posted a few days ago. Hopefully he will do the same for the EU and GLA factions.
  15. A brand new Command & Conquer - Free to Play screenshot was posted today on the Official C&C Facebook page (and Twitter). The new screenshot includes plenty of action and the first public detailed look at the APA Nuke Cannon in its deployed and un-deployed modes. We have many more screenshots inside our gallery in case you have missed any, including some really cool Super HD screenshots.
  16. On the Official C&C Forums, Privatejfx141, posted this wallpaper that he made. It shows comparison pictures of the USA, Chinese and GLA units from C&C Generals as well as their EU, APA and GLA counterparts in the new Command & Conquer - Free to Play. It's interesting to see how things have changed and evolved, yet they all seem familiar. Click here for the original thread.
  17. We all know the new Command & Conquer is going to be one of the best looking games to release this year. The power of the Frostbite 2.0 engine is really impressive, but what you may not have seen in the gameplay videos and HD screenshots released so far are all the details that individual units, structures and the environments have. See what you have been missing in these "super HD" screenshots. We have 5 previously released screenshots here, but these ones measure in at a massive 6864px x 3862px and are around 5 MB each! These screenshots are so large that our Gallery software couldn't handle them, so you won't see them there. The majority of players won't actually be playing the game at resolutions like this, but its damn cool to see them and know what this game is capable of in terms of visual quality. Note: If you want to share these screenshots around, we encourage you to do so, but we kindly ask that you do not link directly to the files on our server. Please mirror them on some alternative hosting.
  18. Here's something really cool. Diamond00744 has taken the new Command & Conquer - Free to Play logo and gave it the classic gold gradient look like the original Command & Conquer logo. It looks rather stylish! Click on the preview above to view a larger 2500px x 750px version. Maybe this will give the team at Victory Games an idea to bring back the classic gold style logo for the new Command & Conquer.
  19. CnCSaga.ru has posted a short four question interview with the C&C Community Manager, EA_CIRE. Each question covers the upcoming and all-important closed beta for the new Command & Conquer. Thanks to CnCSaga.com for the English translation. Click here for the original post in Russian.
  20. Some news from the Official C&C Site, and our Official C&C Site News sub-forum. EA_CIRE has posted a summary of the media previews from all of the gaming sites they invited to experience what the new Command & Conquer is all about. Judging by their reactions, the gaming press at this event came away with the same positive outlook as we did when we were there last December for the C&C Community Summit. Missed any of the previews? Here's a quick list.... Computer and Video Games (English) Eurogamer (English) GamesRadar (English) IGN (English) Joystiq (English) PCGamer (English) Polygon (English) GameStar (German) Spieletipps (German) PCGamesHardware (German) Tweakers (Dutch) Igromania (Russian) Games.Mail.ru (Russian) Eurogamer.it (Italian) They all cover the same information and include similar video and screenshots.
  21. Victory Games' General Manager, Jon van Caneghem, has posted a personal letter to all fans on the Official C&C Site, in which he talks about the recent major press coverage of the new Command & Conquer, answering what it means for C&C to be "free-to-play" and how do the Generals work. And, for the first time, he briefly discusses how monetization will be handled for this game. The original post can be found here.
  22. If you haven't seen the new "landing" page on http://www.commandandconquer.com/ yet you might have missed seeing these awesome looking images of the Generals. There are six images in total. The last two feature photos from the live action video shooting
  23. The official artwork of the logos for the 3 factions in Command & Conquer - Free to Play has been released. Check them out below. From left to right, it's the European Union (EU), Global Liberation Army (GLA) and the Asian-Pacific Alliance (APA). They are all available as high resolution transparent PNG images. If you want to learn more about the 3 factions in Command & Conquer - Free to Play, click here.
  24. Strategy Informer has posted a new Command & Conquer - Free to Play interview with Senior Development Director Tim Morten. In this interview, they talk about why they settled on Generals for the new game and how they have balanced bringing AAA production values to a free-to-play game. A few more details about the plans for single player content are also discussed. Here's part of it.... You can read the full interview right here.
  25. We've somehow missed this news from a few days ago. VG24/7 has uploaded a video on YouTube with an interview with Tim Morten, in which we can see a repeat of what we've seen before, along with some clarifications on what the main focus of the game is. Apparently, the universe of the Generals 2 section of C&C - Free to Play will be set 10 years after the first Generals. For the first time, the alpha gameplay footage has completely clear sound. Missed any of the latest Command & Conquer - Free to Play news posted this past week? Click here to see it all.
