  1. After many long nights for the past month, and many months before that testing various concepts, we can finally make the new look and vastly improved CNCNZ.com public. Its been hidden away for awhile now, behind the scenes. So its good to finally lift the lid of everything so to speak. Many things have changed, lots of things have moved and there all sorts of new features added. We now have a Responsive design so you can browse the site on your mobile devices, its all fully searchable and more! We have put together this quick Layout Guide & Site Features guide to give you an overview of everything that has changed. Many hours of work has been poured into this transition project. And guess what, its not exactly complete. It has reached a stage where we feel it can be made public. But we still have a few annoyances to that we haven’t be able to solve just yet. These problems don’t impede moving around the site at all. In time we will iron out these bugs. In most cases moving to another page or reloading the current page fixes these. Sometimes the Feature Slider images fail to display or partly display When viewing any image inside a “lightbox” the mobile navigation menus can appear one the main navigation menu once the “lightbox” has been closed. All downloads are currently off-line until further notice So please take a look around. If you come across any problems, no matter how major or minor, please report it to us via this new topic. Your feed back is very important to us, so feel free to share.

  3. Its taken another solid week but I'm pleased to say our Downloads section is now back up and running again. It's completely different to our old section from the previous version of CNCNZ.com. This new one, like the rest of our main site, is more powerful, and fully searchable. It features a tag system, with a cool tag cloud, so you can find the files you want faster. For example, click the Patches tag and you will see every patch available for all the C&C games. Another change is the categories. When you pick a game category you will see a list of all the files available for that particular game. Above that list are the subcategories links so you can narrow down your choices. You can also sort by title, date added and download count. And yes all the download statistics have been transferred to the new system. Did you know that the C&C: The First Decade Unofficial Patch v1.03 Rev 4 has been downloaded 85228 times? Anyway, check out the new Downloads section for yourself. If you spot any problems please report them in this news topic.
  4. With the recent relaunch of our site there are also other changes taking place. We have begun merging and centralising our Hosted Projects such as Command & Conquer Legos, Command & Patch and Cartoon and Conquer, under one location within our main site. The old links to these projects have been redirected to their new ones. But for future reference, here are the new links. Command & Conquer Legos: http://www.cncnz.com/hosted-projects/command-conquer-legos/ Command & Patch: http://www.cncnz.com/hosted-projects/command-patch/ Cartoon and Conquer: http://www.cncnz.com/hosted-projects/cartoon-and-conquer/ Please update your bookmarks and other links.
  5. So as you may have noticed news coverage has slowed down somewhat, especially since the cancellation of Command & Conquer last month. While you may not see it right now, we have actually been working behind the scenes rebuilding CNCNZ.com. Many months have been spent in recent times testing things, and now that we have a system in place, we have begun the long process of transferring all of our content and features over to a new and vastly improved site. It takes awhile to move, rebuild and recode 15+ years of website content. I can tell you all now that when our new and improved sites launches things will be a bit different, content will have moved, links will have to be updated. But I'm pleased to say we have retained our traditional blue colour scheme. As you see above, even the logo has remained the same. Our new site will be fully database driven and search-able. And it doesn't matter if you view it via your web browser, iPad or even your iPhone/Smartphone, because the new design is 100% responsive. Meaning it will display great on any device. We are unable to put a date on the relaunch of the site right now though. Just because things look little behind in terms of news, we can reassure you that we have not given up. While the future of Command & Conquer franchise remains a mystery, CNCNZ.com will still be here.
  6. This has not been announced on our main site yet. CNCNZ.com has always embraced social networking with an established presence on both Facebook and Twitter, and now we are branching out even further with our arrival on Google+. We only started our Google+ page about a week ago. It has all our recent news available there, as well as galleries for CommandCOM and gamescom that recently took place, and Cartoon and Conquer. Just as we do with our Facebook and Twitter pages, all of our news posts will be shared on our Google+ page.
  7. Behind the scenes there some tests and discussions taking place to see if its a good idea to make changes to our main page on CNCNZ.com. One of these changes includes how our news is displayed. So please vote in this poll and tell how do you view the news updates? If you have any extra comments to share please do so in this thread. Especially if you vote for the "Other" option.
  8. There's been a lot going on in the C&C community for the month of December, and I decided to make a video that highlights some of the big things that have been going on for CNCNZ.com. Take a look! I cover the following topics at the following times, if you'd like to skip around. 00:40 - C&C Community Summit review and information. 04:35 - I got some free stuff while on my trip to EA. 07:45 - New parts for C&C Legos! 08:25 - Basic review of Frank Klepacki's 20 year compilation CD! What do you think? I might start doing more video topics in the future.
  9. Just a bit of site related news to share here on the main site. Over the past 24 hours some various forum upgrades have been rolled out. We have been working on eliminating the bugs that have popped up after this upgrade. Most of them, at the current time, only affect the way our news is displayed on the main site. These minor issues have added extra line spaces, and they will be sorted out ASAP. As for the forums, they are working fine. And our regulars should spot a few improvements here and there. So if you find anything wrong, feel free to report it, we may have already noticed and we are working on it.
  10. In early December 2012, a whole bunch of community leaders from various C&C fan sites and projects were invited to the Victory Games studio in Los Angeles for the C&C Community Summit to check out the new Command & Conquer. With that in mind, we decided it was time for a new edition our Roundtable Discussion, so we rounded up as many people as we could who attended to get their views on this special event. 11. It's late on Christmas Eve here in New Zealand, and once again it's time for the final update before we sign off for the Christmas break. Following on from last year, our Command & Conquer Christmas related image is C&C Legos inspired again. Even the Brotherhood of Nod has to celebrate Christmas. On behalf of the entire team here at CNCNZ.com, I'd like to wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for all of the support this year. Have a great Christmas Day! Please feel free to leave your own Christmas greetings and wishes in this news thread.
  12. We have finally been given the all clear to inform everyone that a top secret C&C Community Summit recently took place. Last week myself (Sonic) and Zee Hypnotist, along with a group of selected guests from other fan sites and projects in our community, assembled in Los Angeles to hang out with developers at the Victory Games studio and get an inside look at the new Command & Conquer. So with the deadline date passed, we can now start revealing some cool new info about the game. But first check out the latest video about the C&C Community Summit event itself. There are a few photos that we have been given to share with everybody. They show us play testing the new game, plus there are some extra little teasers in there for you. The full gallery can be found here. We have more C&C Community Summit coverage planned. Hopefully some extra video from Zee Hypnotist. But for now feel free to ask any questions about the new Command & Conquer, while we are bound to an NDA, and there is a lot we can't publicly discuss yet, we will try to answer your questions where possible.
  13. We're running a caption contest! Its the second one as part of the CNCNZ.com 15th Anniversary. And yes we had to cross promote it with Command & Conquer Legos. The video below explains more. Here are the three images you can choose from. ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/iK8py.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/WQ98m.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/4MnIv.jpg To submit your caption, either reply in this news post comment thread, or if you'd like to keep your entry secret until the end of the competition, send me a private message, or email me at [email protected]. You can submit one caption per picture. Please clarify the picture you are submitting for in your message! You have until November 13th to submit your captions. On the 13th, I will decide the winners of the contest, and arrange code delivery. Good luck!
  14. The winning entries in our 15th Anniversary Contest have been selected. The lucky people shown below will be receiving a download code for Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection courtesy of CNCNZ.com and our friends at EA. On the left is AZ-Stalker's entry, displaying our logo in front of a monument that somehow resembles an Obelisk of Light. While on the right is one from flashknight33, showing our logo on a vehicle that you wouldn't really take into battle. ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/LFAtg.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/haPS6.jpg AZ-Stalker (left) flashknight33 (right) Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter. The winners have been notified via a private message on our forums. We still have 3 more Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection downloads codes to give away, look out for details about our second contest that will be be posted very soon.
  15. CNCNZ.com is turning 15 years old and thanks to the friendly folks at EA the presents for our birthday are going to you. To mark the milestone achievement of us reaching our 15th year on line covering the Command & Conquer community we are giving away some download codes for Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection. We will be having two separate contests. For the first contest you will need to be creative! The basic idea is simple. We want you to download and print a copy of the official CNCNZ.com logo and place it in the most interesting public real life location you can think of, you will then need to take a photo of this and submit it as your entry. The 2 most creative, funny or entries that simply impress us the most will score a download code for Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection. We do ask that you keep it clean and please don't break any laws that may get you in trouble! If you include yourself in the photo and somehow keep a Command & Conquer theme going you will go along way to winning. Halloween is coming up so there is another idea you could explore. Obviously you will need access to a printer and camera. There are a few simple rules and guidelines for this contest.... You must not edit or add to the CNCNZ.com logo image in any way shape or form Download the logo right here. Its sized to print on an A4 page Only 1 entry per person Remember, keep it clean. No offensive submissions will be accepted When your ready to submit your entry just post it as a reply in this news thread on our forums The contest closes Monday 5th November 2012 So good luck, its time to get creative and win the Ultimate Collection of Command & Conquer games! Information about our second contest will be posted at a later date.
  16. This was briefly mentioned on our Facebook page earlier this week. CNCNZ.com celebrates its 15th anniversary in the next couple days. And we have a few download codes for Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection to give away thanks to our friends at EA. We will be running 2 contests. You will have to get your thinking caps on and get a little creative for them. Zee Hypnotist is preparing a video for one them so that will keep you guessing. The specific contest details for the first contest will be posted on Friday. So keep it locked on our main site for details about how you can score yourself a free download code for Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection!

  20. Can you believe this is the first Roundtable we have done in 2012? It's been a slow year in terms of big news topics for us to discuss, but we are back with this Command & Conquer - Free to Play Special Edition. We have gone with our staff only panel for this one. 21. There is a new tab at the top of the page, its our new Member Map. You can now display your location on this map for other members to see. Its powered by Google Maps, so if your familiar with that than you should be able find your way around this one You must be registered on our forums to add your marker to the map You can quickly view any friends that have added themselves You can change/delete your location at any time
  22. A big site such as CNCNZ.com is never complete. There is always work going on behind the scenes to add new functionality and improve things. So here's a quick look at some recent additions to the site. Command & Conquer 365 News/Content Toolbox You won't actually see this name appearing on the site. It's just what we call it internally. Now, on the main site, above the latest news updates is the familiar Command & Conquer 365 logo that we have used in the past. Right next to this is a series of links to our News Archive, Community News. Now also it features the new Trending, Most Shared, Most Clicked content. When you click on these, you will see a special section of the site that shows you what other people have been doing with content from our main site and forums, mostly via social media. This is why you see special # tags in the address bar of your web browser as you browse around the site. It's all tracked and updated in real time (sort of), plus you can switch between month, week and day view. Community Twitter Feed We used to have all the latest "tweets" from our Twitter feed displaying on the site. This has been updated to display all the Twitter activity from the C&C Community. This is done via the @CNCNZcom/cnc-community list we have on Twitter. We have about 30+ C&C community sites and/or individuals on this list. You view who is on it right here. If you're on Twitter and are involved in the C&C Community, and would like your tweets displayed here, let us know.
  23. Just a quick update to thank everyone who took the time to take the CNCNZ.com Feedback Survey. The survey is now closed and we are no longer taking any submissions. As stated when the survey was started last week, it was all done anonymously. And at this stage, the results are being used for internal staff use, but may be released publicly at a later date. After looking at the numbers and reading some of the feedback, it's given us something to think about for the future. In fact, during the week, with the survey open, a few quick changes were made to our site based on some feedback. So, thanks again to everyone who participated. Your feedback is very valuable to us.
  24. After many months of putting it off, I finally got around to finishing the new design for CNCNZ.com. One of the main objectives for this new look was to recode a majority of the site's backend, the code behind the scenes that you don't see, as well as introduce some more modern features at the same time. And after experimenting with some different colour schemes, you can see we have retained the classic colours of blue, black and gold, all topped with our shiny new gold logo, that has already been seen before. A quick guide to the new look site can be found right here. It explains what has changed, what's new and more. I've already noticed some things that need fixing up around the site, but if you spot something that doesn't look right, please leave a comment in this news post.
  25. Fellow Cncnz dwellers. If you want to socialize with other members from these forums on Steam, leave your steam nick. It'd be fun to kick some butt in various games (against or together). Mine is Jehal. Feel free send an invite.
