  1. C&C:Online, the community-run multiplayer server for Command & Conquer games affected by the GameSpy shutdown, marked its third anniversary yesterday! This year alone, around 45,000 people have been playing on the servers, with the number still rising. To celebrate this anniversary, prized tournaments have been announced for the month of July, as well as a hint at a new and more convenient way to launch the games onto the service.
  2. GameReplays.org will be hosting the Kane's Wrath January 3vs3 R12 Tournament this Sunday, 8th January at 12:00 GMT on C&C:Online. Players in this event are free to select their own teams, although the tournament organisers will try to make teams for those that don't have one. Sign ups are open now, you will also find all the important details right here. If you need help getting online to play, see GameReplays.org's C&C:Online User Guide. Sign ups close at 11 AM GMT on the day of the event.
  3. Both CnCNet and C&C:Online have launched their Discord servers recently. For those who don't know, Discord is a VoIP/chat service designed for gaming communities, and was intended to combine the best aspects of Skype and TeamSpeak, and you can even see a bit of IRC influence. It can be run through an application on your computer or smartphone, or through your web browser. So check out the CnCNet Discord server here, and the C&C:Online server.
  4. For the past 10 hours or so, the C&C:Online server has been unavailable. There hasn't been to much reported that explains the cause of the server downtime. The problem is with the hosting company of the C&C:Online server. The C&C:Online team hope to have it back up and running soon. UPDATE: C&C:Online is now back online once again.

One year ago today C&C:Online was successfully launched in the wake of the impending GameSpy shutdown to keep online services for the likes of Red Alert 3, Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath, Generals and Zero Hour online.   7. It has been announced that C&C:Online, the community based online service for the likes of Tiberium Wars, Red Alert 3 and Generals, has been relocated to its own server. Previously, C&C:Online was hosted on the Revora server. The Revora server also hosts many other sites and projects, such as CNCNZ.com. Here is the full announcement.   8. To many months have gone by since the poll was changed. So the good news is we finally have a new one. The new poll is, Which community based C&C multiplayer services do you play on? Do you play on C&C:Online (Generals/C&C 3/Kane's Wrath/Red Alert 3), perhaps you play the classics on XWIS (C&C/Red Alert/Tiberian Sun /Red Alert 2/Renegade) or do you still keep retro and go with CnCNet (C&C/Red Alert/Tiberian Sun /Red Alert 2). You can vote for just one of them or all three if you like. And of course there is an option for those who don't use any of them.   9. GameReplays.org has announced the World Series 2015 event for Generals: Zero Hour, which will take place this March. At the end of February, the top 32 ladder players for that month will be identified and eligible for playing in this event, after which the signup thread will be opened. If a player from the first 32 does not show up for the tournament, the next available highest-level player (e.g. 33rd) will take his place. To qualify and enter the ladder, you will have to play on the C&C:Online service. For this, you will require GenTool. You can see the full rules here and follow the current ladder standings here. This is your chance to play alongside skilled players, so make those ladder matches count!
  10. 2015 couldn't have started better for community-made multiplayer services for C&C games. Yesterday, on January 4th, CnCNet's player count record was set to a whopping 512, cumulated from all supported games and mods! On the same day, C&C:Online's SpyMaster was fixed in the early morning, and what was seen afterwards surprised everyone - the player counts kept rising to such an extent that it was hard to make a screenshot, as the number just kept going up until it neared cca 340, cumulated from all supported games. This is wonderful news for everyone interested in multiplayer modes of Command & Conquer games and we hope it will not stop here.
  11. Greetings Generals! We are pleased to announce that statistics recording and, for the very first time in the games' histories, automatic 1v1 ranked ladders have been enabled for Command and Conquer Generals and Zero Hour on C&C:Online. Statistics are now being recorded and display to players in each game as they did under GameSpy. Those statistics, along with a live display of 1vs1 ladder standings are available on Shatabrick. There are plans to display the ladders and statistics on other sites, including the C&C:Online web site and on GameReplays. Presently, ladders and statistics are available only to GenTool users. Statistics recording (but not ladder access) may be made available to non-Gentool users in the future. The ladders in both games are operating a simplified Elo system, where a variable number of points are awarded or deducted for a win or a loss, based on the number of points held by each player. Presently, thirty three points are awarded or deducted for a win or loss between players holding an equal number of points, varying between a minimum of five points and a maximum of sixty points, depending on the points difference between the players. In Zero Hour, the ladder is presently restricted to 1vs1 games played on the official 1vs1 maps, although we intend to extend the map pool in the near future in consultation with players. There are currently no restrictions on the maps which may be played in Generals. For the future, there are plans to add a 2vs2 ladder, a clan ladder and match histories. Unsuspecting players have been competing on the ladders for the last few days now but we'll be resetting the ladders in both games on 14 September so players have a fresh chance to scrabble to the top by the end of the month. After that, we'll be resetting the ladders monthly and will be looking at holding a competition for the top ladder players at the end of each month.
