Oh wow. Thanks. That was very poorly indicated :o

Anyway, as I suspected, this is Tiberian Sun type VQA. If you try to play it in C&C1, it crashes the game.

TS VQA has higher colour depth than TD VQA. TD VQA is strictly 256-colour, and normally even has the same 256-colour palette for the ENTIRE video.

To convert to TD VQA, without too much quality loss, you need to make sure to

1. ALWAYS save as uncompressed avi (usually called "RGB" in codecs list) while editing. It'll take gigabytes, but every time you save with a codec is quality loss.

2. Convert the final video to a series of PCX frames with RAD Video Tools, using these settings.

3. Select 8-bit VQA in the VQA encoder, and leave all settings (key frame etc.) on their default.

For the audio, you should just use XCC mixer to extract the audio (use "Copy As WAV"), and then you can use it right away when reconverting.

(for other WAV conversion to get it to the correct format for conversion to aud/vqa, use this guide

Yeah, I know and I gave him full instruction how to do it, but as always if someone doesn't know "how", won't ask *boss* to help him...nah nevermind anyway.

BTW: Belated birthday wishes! :P (better late than never ;p)

P.S. I was looking for this download link for 10 minutes...just marvelous website.

Ah, okay. Didn't know you realized what he did wrong :)

and thanks! Been a week of deadline hell at work. I both dread and look forward to the weekend, since I got only one day left to finish my project X_x

Since I've noticed this thread, I've been wondering: are you looking for a subtitles script proofreader?

Also, a few things bother me in the translation, hope you wouldn't mind me sharing them?

EDIT: Ah, what the hell.

Mind you, I'm working on an ancient version of the files:

Minigunner - Strzelec (fizylier is an antiquated term, jarring when used in context of GDI).

Bazooka - Rakietowiec (common name for a soldier serving in Rocket Artillery)

Flamethrower infantry - Miotacz ognia (Miotacz ognia is a noun that can both refer to a flamethrower and its operator; Ogniomistrz is also an artillery serviceman rank's that doesn't have anything to do with flames)

Chemical warrior - Miotacz chemii

Watchtower - Strażnica (again, Baszta is a VERY antiquated term)

Also, consistency is important. If I recall correctly Polish grammar rules, you don't translate codenames etc., which means Apache and ORCA shouldn't be translated.

Also, have you considered translating APC as simply BWP (Bojowy Wóz Piechoty)? Granted, the M113 isn't an actual IFV, but it could look a bit prettier.

Thank's for Your interest in this project.

Let's see your proposals:

Minigunner

In 2nd World War, Polish (and all around world's soldier) were called 'Fizylierami" since 1st use of gun weapon. Strzelec for me it's too general form for guy who uses minigun in war.

Bazooka

It's an M20 anti-tank weapon commonly called "Bazooka". Renaming this to "Rakietowiec" for me - and i belive for rest of C&C users - reminds to a guy from Red Alert 2 who uses jet pack. I don't remember his name

Flamethrower infantry

Ogniomistrz - even if it's rank in artillery brigades - reminds for most of ppl who don't have military service experience, with man who uses Flame Thrower as weapon. Your proposal "Miotacz Ognia" for most of ppl reminds a weapon, thing not a man.

Chemical warrior

Same with "Miotacz ognia". I want to be consistent. Not to make player dizzy, who once had 'Miotacz ognia" and now 'Miotacz chemii".

Watchtower

The way i've picked up 'Baszta" was multiple use of this structure. Moreover the upgrade form of this building ("Advanced Watchtower") sounds silly in Polish. "Zaawansowana Strażnica". it sounds like a "experienced woman" than a high tech building.

Also' date=' consistency is important. If I recall correctly Polish grammar rules, you don't translate codenames etc., which means Apache and ORCA shouldn't be translated.

[/quote']

In Polish we are translating codenames - such as "Desert Storm". Also famous German Panzerkampfwagen VI "Tiger".

As polish grammar rules says - nouns ended with vowel has apostrophe. If noun ends with consonant has polish tip. That's all. The problem with ORCA is with it's ending: "Zniszcz nieprzyjacielskie ORCA'i" or "Zniszcz nieprzyjacielskie ORKI". Or it should be "Zniszcz nieprzyjacielskie ORCA"? I think 2nd 'coz it's more proper form and shows exactly your target - even if it's not the same codename in english.

As for You question - i think not. Project is already finished, but i don't have much time to polish it.

So, what, is it done now, or do I still need to change stuff? -_-

Shall I place it on the main news?

Not sure how news worthy it is, but, sure, if you want.

Pity the game still has a bug messing up multiplayer for pretty much any language besides English... (fixed now, with 1.06c revision 3!)

I have to apologize all of You guys (and i hope girls) for my absence. Exams, work and few big changes in life resulted that i really didn't have much time for all of this. Once a again - i'm very sorry for such irresponsibility to end this project with one hit. However i see my presence wasn't so needed 'coz Nyer gain so much experience in Polish that there is nothing to fix. :)

My work was was just a little part. Without Your huge involvement i would have just text that could be read on a side. Also thank You Plokite for a news on mainsite :)

Aheh. My knowledge of Polish is still not enough to properly abbreviate words to fit on the icons, though :P
