Thought on Scrin - Deep thought

Recommended Posts

ok, first off, whining warning, don't like this share thought thread, don't read and don't complain :)

well, been playing a lot of CnC3 and having a lot of thought on many things, lore and all... been playing scrin mission, and i have this deep thought... ok, i kinda hate the scrin, pretty much about everything to do with it.

first, don't you guys think it is the least command and conquer type of faction?? ever?? TIberium universe always been about human conflict, though the crystal may be alien, but the world and people always been, well, people, human i mean. so suddenly has to command an alien force, kinda weird and I constantly feeling detach from the solid and rich tiberium world...

ok, then would be a balancing issue, though the skirmish game pretty balance, but as long as you try to relate the units and everything else with the lore and story, problem arise, for example, sonic emitter, while it is balanced and is just a super defense weapon like the obelisk, it supposed to have a violent effect on the Scrin, but of course, in mission , it is, but in skirmish, it is not (I think...), so i guess the complex issue would be, should sonic emitter behave as it should be as in the lore in game and in skirmish?? and if yes, while it satisfies the lore side of concern, it created a real imbalance problem, which is, do damage to Scrin, and effectively, but shouldn't do much to Nod cause it is just a tiberium control device... yea, i know i have a lot of crap :)

then similar problem with the, then taken away in game weapon, the infamous catalyst missile(the big one), should it be used equally in skirmish, and in other in game mission, it should be interesting and truthful to the lore, again similar problem arised; only do damage to the scrin cause they have tiberium diet and only do damage to GDI refinery and perhaps, just perhaps Nod power plant with the little tiberium core upgrade.....

i guess what been trouble my mind lately is that how to make the damn Scrin right if I was to develop similar game?? for my opinion, i think Scrin shouldn't even make it into the game or should be a dedicated expansion/game to this faction cause it is just way off the reality and the world , the feel of command and conquer, besides ever with the demise of TIberian Twilight, the whole Scrin issue would never be resolve, we would not know who they really are, what they want, their true connection with tiberium and the tacitius, kane and a yet even more illusive race, they who first created the data matrix known as tactius, what they look like, and their relation with the Scrin, do they truly cousin in relation, but in what ways?? I guess i can leave with the fact that Tiberium is a secretive crystal with secretive origin, but seen the appearance of the Scrin, people want to know more!! and this is why i would always prefer no alien, cause tiberium would be cooler if it is just damn mysterious!!!

The short answer is... yes.

Yes I would prefer if the gameplay reflected the lore better.

Why don't Devs use the rock paper scissor approach to defensive and SP weapons v factions?

Gameplay vs story, its an old beast to deal with.

The Sonic Emitter and Catalyst missile can be explained away as the Scrin adapting to the situation. But its beast not to think to heavily about these things outside of the singleplayer campaign. It'll just ruin the experience for you.

I'd just like to point out that skirmishes are not canon. They never have been, and never will be. As such, the storyline is completely irrelevant in skirmishes and balancing is the most important factor.
