Just moved house and discovered to my horror that no cable internet or ADSL2+ is available. My ISP informed me if I requested a pair-gains-removal I had a 70% chance of getting better connection but it could take up to three months for the process to complete. So I'm stuck on a pre-paid wireless service (Vodafone) while they try the removal, that is comparatively expensive and that has a really low reception in my area to boot.

Yes I'm having fun.
:(

So that's where I have been the last couple of weeks - trying to sort that out.
So to make me feel better, what's your speedtest results?

Meh... The next door neighbours are getting 5-7 times this speed with Mr R. Branson's expensive fibre-optic Virgin Broadband... Bastards! :P

Case in point, here is the connection in the 'computer room' - which is a converted garage...

Sigh.

At least I'm on a laptop, so I can move to different parts of the house to get a better connection, it's bit like watching the cricket in the 80's and tuning the rabbit aerials to get better reception from the tv channel. But what a hassle...

As for me, I am still using a 768kps DSL connection. Not much for me to test there to make it faster.

How do I have one of the fastest connections on this site? I live in the US. We're not exactly swimming in a lot of really high-speed broadband.

It's probably not ten times faster. Remember, these are measured in megabits, not megabytes.
