On this day, 14 years ago, Westwood Studios released Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. A worthy follow up after Tiberian Sun and arguably the most popular of all the Command & Conquer games released over the years. Most fans would agree that entire franchise, from a storyline perspective, got messed up since Red Alert 2 was made by Westwood Pacific (later to be named EA Pacific), the same team who went on to make C&C Generals. While it was a sequel to Red Alert, it could not be considered a direct sequel in terms of continuing a story. It really was a entirely new alternate Red Alert universe.

You can make as many RTS games you like, you can invent so many new features, but you can never replace RA2. The feeling it brings just refuses to die. If only it had more campaign missions...

I don't expect they will until (if) the next C&C gets released.

EA would make a lot of money if they put a team on a HD upgrade for this game, just like how Age of Empires 2 has been put onto the Steam and sold to everyone all over again.

Yeah I would be a fanboy and buy a HD remake of this.

I hope RA2 will get to be on Origin's On The House one day... if it doesn't go freeware soon.
