Major file problems with C&C TFD

Recommended Posts

so i've recently tried playing C&C Zero Hour online using C&C online. After getting everything setup I made the decision to uninstall C&C TFD. When I went into the control panel to uninstall it it told me this "There was a problem starting C:\PROGRA~2\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\PROFES~1\RunTime\11\00\Intel32\Ctor.dll

The specified module could not be found."

with that error, i can't uninstall C&C TFD and therefore can't reinstall it to fix the problem.

please help.

System Specs:

Windows 8.1

Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz

8.00GB RAM

64-bit OS

Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GT 635M 2GB

HD: 1TB

Run everything, including the uninstaller, as administrator, no exceptions. Or disable UAC completely.

If you've hooked Generals or Zero Hour with the C&C:Online launcher (even though that is not according to the instructions for the two games), run the launcher and unhook them first.

I'm unable to run the program farther than the launcher screen from the disk only. Another problem i'm having is that the files are removed from my C drive. I removed them from there in the hopes of uninstalling the program when the uninstaller failed. I was successful in removing the files but the uninstaller still remains unaccepting of the command to uninstall C&C TFD. it claims it still cannot find the file. When i attempt to start the program from the disk the top option, which should state "install" says "launch" as if the files were already installed and ready to go. however, it cannot launcher as there are no files to go to. so i'm unable to run the program or attempt a repair on the program from within the program. I need something to fix the error message from the uninstaller itself inorder to reenable the installing of the program again. Also running the uninstaller, and the disk launcher as Admin did not fix this issue.

If you simply wanted the files out of your system and not install them again, you can ignore that. If not, browse to the DVD's files and find a setup executable. Run it as admin.

If you've had problems with malware recently, this thread may be of help to remove the Ctor.dll issue: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/327813/cant-uninstall-a-program-error-loading-cprogra1common1instal1profes1runtime1050intel32ctordll/

Alternatively, people seem to recommend Revo Uninstaller to uninstall things with if you get such an issue. http://www.revouninstaller.com/

As an absolutely final resort, get the Manual Download of the DLL file here and place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\10\50\Intel32 if it actually isn't there: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ctor

I just posted here:

http://forums.cncnz.com/topic/19606-can-anyone-help/ The complete removal is not hard, just a pain in the booty. As I stated in the previous post, delete or rename all the game folders and files then remove all Registry entries related to C&C, Generals, ZH etc.. Delete the Shortcuts as well, odd things happen for some reason with old Shortcuts even if they point to the correct files.

Re-install TFD completely then patch with tfd-103-rev4.exe it resolves many issues including the CD/DVD Copy Protection failure related to the recent security update from Microsoft (affecting Win Vista -> Win10)

which completely disables SPTD, both old and new installations, which is required for SafeDisc Copy Protection.

My TFD works correctly from the launcher. I apply Compatibility adjustments to the individual Executions, then run from TFD launcher without issue.

You may contact me in PM if you require more info or help... I'm happy to.

Regards,

Dak/AJ
