This week in our Throwback Thursday feature, we take a peek behind the scenes of the FMV shooting for C&C Tiberian Sun from late July 1998. To be exact, the shooting of the infamous "son of a bitch" scene from the GDI intro. During the three-week recording period which was mostly taken in studio, Westwood's video team went to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area within the Mojave Desert, not far from Las Vegas. It was there that Kris Iyer and Michael Biehn enacted easily one of the cheesiest scenes in Command & Conquer history.

Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. This week in our Throwback Thursday feature, we look at the evolution of the first Tesla Tank in the Red Alert universe. It first appeared in the Counterstrike mission "Legacy of Tesla" with the appearance of a Mobile Radar Jammer, as a campaign-only unit. In development builds of The Aftermath, it sported a similar chassis, but with a Tesla coil and a van de Graaff generator mounted on top of it. In its final appearance in the released version of The Aftermath, where it is available in skirmish and multiplayer as well, the Tesla coil is condensed and its profile is lower.

Another Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge server alternative run by fans has emerged recently. NGWOL, much like XWIS, mimicks the old Westwood Online server and utilizes its lobby structure. Ladders for both games are available and functional, and the tool provided can have the games switch back and forth between NGWOL and XWIS. Information on signing up and connecting can be found on their website.
