Freezing issues in C&C95

Recommended Posts

I am not sure what's up with the unexpected freezing issues I was seeing while playing C&C95 despite I installed all the movies and music to the directory. I am using the latest version of Nyerguds C&C95 patch (I think it's v1.06c r3.) The strangest part was when I played in some missions ingame, when I press the ESC button to the menu, the mouse froze but not the keyboard. When I pressed the ESC button again, the gameplay went back to normal and the mouse moved.

Another encounter with the freezing issue I discovered was in the select mission in the campaign map. After I completed a mission(s) for either GDI or Nod, the map clip didn't play and the game froze (and the music still played onwards), but somehow it still went through to the select destination section without a crash.

With a modded C&C95.exe consisting of some of my modified balance changes from TibEd, these freezing issues started to happen. Not sure what happens to the unmodded original version. Has anyone encountered this?

I haven't encountered this. What resolution do you play in? And what version of C&C1 do you have? Original? TFD? CnCNet?

Windows XP compatibility mode is known to cause games to freeze on windows 8 / 8.1 / 10

Actually I am running the C&C95 portable version (actually it's the Nyerguds version with the enhanced config tool) on a window with a 800 x 600 resolution (and not 1280 x 720 widescreen due to map issues) under Windows 7.

Although it seems as though the mouse is frozen, it is actually just invisible at that point. I have the same problem so I found that disabling ccdraw in the ccconfig.exe takes care of the problem. You lose some graphical options, but I have absolutely no problems when running this way.
