Greetings ladies and gentlemen. My name is Hecthor Doomhammer and welcome to the second edition of the Hecthor Doomhammer Red Alert 1vs1 Tournament (tm) in OpenRA.
Seeing as how last year’s tournament went in terms of organisation and execution, I am happy be hosting another edition of this kind of tournament.

Starting Saturday July 1st at 10:00 AM GMT / 12:00 PM GMT 16 of you will be waging a 2 weekend war to decide who take the honor, glory and the prize money on Sunday July 9th
Hosted and livestreamed from my channel on Twitch and joined by SoScared, FiveAces and Jazz_KCS as tournament officials. All matches will be streamed live and later edited and uploaded to my Youtube channel.

In this topic on Sleipnir's Forum you can see all the information necessary as well as sign up if you wish to have a shot at the prize pool, currently sitting at a solid €160.

With only 8 days remaining before my OpenRA Tournament starts, tomorrow, June 23rd will be your LAST CHANCE to sign up!
Know that the prize pool has increased to a whopping €250!!! And of course don't forget about the added prize of the Possible RA:GL Masters Seed for Season 4!
While we already have 16 players and a few reserves, I would still love to see this tournament reach 32 players!
For this occasion, I will be holding 1 last hype up stream of OpenRA's Red Alert starting tomorrow, June 23rd at 18:00 GMT / 20:00 CET and I will go until MIDNIGHT as Registration for the tournament closes then! So this is really your last chance to sign up.
If we don\t make 32 players, the Tournament will go between the 16 that signed up early. The rest will just be reserves.
Read up on the Tournament HERE! and SIGN UP TODAY, because after the stream ends, so will the registration. If you're 1 minute late, you're too late!

The clock is ticking!

See you all on my channel on Twitch!

And then there were only 4.
This year the Tournament has seen quite a few surprises, both negative and positive, but there can only be 1 who claims victory over all.

Tomorrow, July 8th 2017 starting at 10:00 GMT, I will be hosting the last day of this year's Hecthor Doomhammer's Red Alert 1vs1 Tournament (tm) where we will see both the Semi Finals, as well as the Bronze Match AND while we're at it, we'll go all in with the Finals as well.
Prepare for a marathon of a stream.

The rules of the Semi Finals have changed: no longer will we see 5 guaranteed matches where every country is represented, but we will see the even match 2 and 4 be a mirror image of match 1 and 3, with match 5 being RNG. This will be for a Best of 5.
This means that Player 1 on the bracket picks the map for match 1 and 2, and for match 1 he also gets to pick the starting positions. Both players pick their countries for match 1.
For Match 2, the players will not only switch starting locations, but also their countries.
Player 2 gets to select the map for match 3 and 4, as well as the starting position for match 3 and both players pick different countries.
Match 4 will see the switch of locations and countries again.

For both the Bronze Match and the Finals, players have to choose their 1 strongest country, and play that for a Best of 7 with randomized starting positions.

At the end of the road when we know the score, the prizes will be handed out:
4th: €10
3rd: €50
2nd: €75
1st: €135

and we can close of this year's edition of the Hecthor Doomhammer's OpenRA Red Alert 1vs1 Tournament (tm)

Join us tomorrow at 9:30 GMT so that we can start the semi finals at the end of this countdown
Of course the entire event will be streamed on my channel on Twitch

Hope to see you all then!

An interesting playtest (note: playtest builds are experimental and are not considered stable) version of OpenRA has been released yesterday. All of the current mods are now accessed separately instead of using a central launcher, a C&C3-styled interface for advanced movement options like attack move and waypoints has been implemented, new building physics have been added, 9 more Dune 2000 campaign missions have been converted, LAN games are now automatically discovered in the Multiplayer browser, and many more changes have been made.

This week in our Throwback Thursday feature, we look at the evolution of the first Tesla Tank in the Red Alert universe. It first appeared in the Counterstrike mission "Legacy of Tesla" with the appearance of a Mobile Radar Jammer, as a campaign-only unit. In development builds of The Aftermath, it sported a similar chassis, but with a Tesla coil and a van de Graaff generator mounted on top of it. In its final appearance in the released version of The Aftermath, where it is available in skirmish and multiplayer as well, the Tesla coil is condensed and its profile is lower.

Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We also encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.

We've fallen a bit behind on the news in the C&C community, so it's time to catch up.
C&C Communications Center has relaunched on Sunday with a completely new look and a vast archive of data and images from Westwood's RTS titles currently spanning from the venerable Dune II to Tiberian Sun and Firestorm. Much of the material you can see there hasn't been seen publicly in many years, and some of it... ever! Over the past week, the Twisted Insurrection team introduced new tracks for the upcoming version of the mod: Radioactivity (including some lyrics from Kraftwerk's song of the same name), W.I.R.E.S., Tungsten Souls, and The Surveyors. The first three tracks were composed by Swirekster, while The Surveyors is by OmegaBolt. OpenRA was updated to stable version 20170527, which fixes a few graphical issues and adds the "Fast" game speed. The Generals 2 mod for Red Alert 3 is showing further progress with the new APA tank models and textures. Red Alert: A Path Beyond was patched to version 3.1.1.0, introducing lots of balance changes, map tweaks, touched-up graphics for the Mammoth Tank, new Strela-2 model for the Grenadier and more.

Over a month ago, the team at GVMERS, who had previously covered the fate of the cancelled FPS Tiberium, created a video on the entire C&C franchise. What you are looking at above is the corrected, definitive version - certain facts about things that happened behind the scenes in Westwood Studios, EA Pacific, EA Los Angeles and Victory Games have been proofread, and each game is now presented in higher detail, in order to better describe what made Command & Conquer what it is, in both its good and bad times. The video is now 10 minutes longer in total, so be sure to check it out!
