According to the ati control center the gpu temp is 49 to 55 depending on how hard I run it, 60 when I was testing the card for stability. CPU is running around 52. I've got 6 120mm fans for cooling the case. I've got an ultra x2 750watt power supply.
I'm "fairly" sure the gpu isn't overheating. I've run most of my games at the highest graphics settings and the only one to give me any problems is C&C 3/kane's wrath. I mean I understand it's possible but I just don't see how when everything else runs flawlessly.I've done hours of WoW on the highest settings raiding. If that wouldn't cause a crash from overheating I don't know what would. I clean the case out once a month and have filters on the fans to catch what I can.
For the xp hard drive, all I did was install xp and update it, install c&c 3 and update it, update the video card to it's latest version, and tried playing. Everything went nuts so I uninstalled the latest drivers, swept the system to get everything, then got the last version I knew worked at least on the old card. C&C still went nuts.
I tried it again this morning for giggles and most of the structures were bouncing up and down, most of the infantry was half invisible, the tiberium was flicking aka usual glitches. I played for awhile and all of a sudden the screen went grey with vertail grey and black stripes. That I could see being an overheating gpu or memory leak/glitch but I don't see how when the temps never get too high.
I'm going to try putting the old card back in and see if the game goes nuts or not.
thank you all for any and all help or advice.
