Because they need to add the logo at the bottom, and smooth the screenshot a little bit (because in-game anti-aliasing isn't that great). That's it AFAIK.
-
Would need to check this out myself on the current build, to see what goes wrong.
-
Can you send me the mod project? Obviously somewhere something goes wrong, and it's probably inside the mod.

Kane's Wrath Mod SDK Community Project
Koen replied to Mighty BOB!'s topic in Tiberium Wars / Kane's Wrath
It would be a huge technical feat if you'd reverse engineer all the structures. I currently believe however that not all information from the XML files is retained within the manifest. If he can show that it works for several non-trivial assets, then maybe it could go somewhere. -
I joined. Couldn't get into a game though... very quiet?

This is a bug in beta 5f... downgrade to 5e: http://staff.science.uva.nl/~ksande/files/tibed2beta5e.exe There'll be a new TibEd 2 version soon.

Which game are you editing? What's your OS? And which anti-spyware, anti-virus or other background scanners do you have? The only thing on a timer is the auto-save. But if you disabled that, and it only happens if you click on something... it must be freezing on something else, as the auto-save should not be the result of an action. Depending on the game, different actions might occur. The C&C3 editor freezes when it is regenerating the list of assets, but that shouldn't take 15 seconds either.

I have a 64-bit Windows 7 machine now, but haven't really tested TibEd 1.x yet. Fixing issues in Visual Basic 6 programs is hard, because MS does not support it anymore.

Apply to game should do it... are you on Vista?
-
Yes, there's TibEd 1.7 for the classic games and TibEd 2 for the newer games. 1.64 and 1.7 are almost the same, except that 1.7 is freeware while 1.64 is shareware. Debugging TibEd 1.x on Vista is... really annoying. I don't know why it crashes sometimes. The error you have looks like it cannot write in a location it should be able to. Wait... probably the TibEd 1 backup folder is not writeable because it is in Program Files. That'll only affect the C&C95 editor. You could go to the Tibed folder and change the permissions on it to "writeable for everyone".

Oh boy. Note to self: Is beta 5f compiled with PREFER_UNICODE? Downgrade to beta 5e: http://staff.science.uva.nl/~ksande/files/tibed2beta5e.exe And wait for the new version to be released soon. This one will have a complete unicode overhaul (which you won't see anything from on the surface).

Tibed 2 Won't Build my BIG File In Tiberium Wars
Koen replied to ghostmangoth's topic in TibEd Technical Support
Hmm, not all the output is in the log... that's probably a TibEd bug. My internal development version is not quite the same for this. If you want me to have a look, e-mail the TibEd 2 project to me. -
No, Kane's Wrath cannot be edited and this will never be fixed (as it requires a Mod SDK for Kane's Wrath, which will not be made by EA). They released the unit graphics for some of the new Kane's Wrath units so you could include them into normal C&C3. Haven't looked at how that works. However, I have been programming on the C&C3 editor the past few weeks. The development version is now usable again. Hopefully there'll be a release soon.

Error, Ecomponent Error, can not edit anything.. help
Koen replied to jjohnson0000's topic in TibEd Technical Support
Are there INI files in the Data\INI folder inside your game folder? Then those are conflicting with TibEd somehow. -
They might lower the system specs again later, but for beta purposes, the graphics aren't final nor optimized yet. Unfortunately, my laptop only has an Intel X3100, which only runs C&C3 on low settings. It'll be 6 more days until I get home
-
Yup, that's my expectation too. But probably, the beta we will play is still a lot rougher than the one they'll put out for the public. They'll update our game a few times, probably.
-
Well, I don't know how far along the matching system is, but in the CommandCOM built we couldn't pick our side, we were randomly assigned. So I was Nod all the time, by pure chance
-
Yes, we should post the beta feedback there - once we get an account. Anyhoot, time to... wait.
-
Doctor Destiny will have to check his other e-mail account, because my request to change it was a bit late. Anyway, the beta will be interesting... when I get back from Greece in 9 days.

I think the distinction between pre-order rewards and collectors edition items isn't very clear when you fill out the survey. So, I'm not a fan of pre-order content (because I cannot get it in Europe most likely). Especially when you get map A at retailer X and map B at Y. Then you'll never get it completely...
-
When they say it's coming, it always takes a few days longer than you think

Well, I have to say about 90% raised their hands. I was one of the few who didn't raise his hand. Mind you, I think some people automatically raised their hand; it's a group thing I hope you can appreciate the pirate, bunny and military booth babe pictures in the CNCNZ CommandCOM gallery then . But I didn't get that many... this guy was there only for the booth babes? I will buy C&C4 if it will be a good game, and secondly because it is the conclusion of the saga. My

Well, in C&C3 they didn't have the 45 degree difference (I think...), because they didn't have the cell grid yet for the buildings. However, full free "3d" pathfinding was very challenging. For RA3, they simplified it a lot by putting the buildings on a grid. However, the building grid is not aligned with the unit pathfinding, which gives weird graphics glitches. Now, in C&C4, pathfinding will be less challenging because there will be fewer units (pop cap) and fewer "complicated" areas with many buildings (what we saw at CommandCOM, there weren't buildings yet). Anyway, I personally still had a unit who didn't go where I sent him without a little encouragement. But I didn't notice any graphical glitches in the pre-alpha.
-
Of course they listened, and I'm sure it will improve the game. But you can't please everyone, so some people will still go crazy

Two clarifications on the Tiberium flora and fauna: the artwork for the Tiberium on the maps we played wasn't done yet, so we didn't actually see a lot of Tiberium. We did see the Visceroids and the Mutated monkeys, and I have to say the civilian buildings really looked like a part of the map, instead of being "bolted on" as it looks in most other C&C games. I will have to clarify my open mind statement: - you have to keep an open mind on whether it will be a good game. I think it has the potential to be a good RTS game. - there will be some "minor" base building with defensive structures, but there won't be refineries or power plants. - if you are really attached to traditional base building and won't tolerate any changes there, then C&C4 will not give you what you want. The resource system will change a lot. I don't want to get your hopes up about the defensive class too much.
