can't wait for more. It's always a nice to read some C&C related articles like this one from the pc gamer.

Rock Paper Shotgun did similar thing over more than month ago, only for Tiberian Sun: Have You Played Tiberian Sun?
I hadn’t experienced the interim period between Dune 2 and Tiberian Sun, so the jump seemed enormous. I was in love. So much detail, so many units, so much unbound sci-fi, so much destruction, a true future-war: this was my dream game. First-person shooters fell by the wayside, and for years to come I consumed every RTS I could get my hands on.It was C&C I craved more of, though. I was disappointed when the immediate follow-up was Red Alert 2, finding the campy alt-history less appealing than the (very) vaguely Warhammer 40kish sci-fi of Tiberian Sun. -

USSR, not Russia.
And yes, Cuba, Iraq, and Lybia were also mostly irrelevant in RA2.
USSR = Union of Soviet Socialist Republics aka Soviet Union (Soviets)
Former Soviet Union states were (Real World, not RA universe where we have Cuba, Iraq, Lybia, countries of Warsaw Pact - former East Bloc, etc, all represented as USSR): Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
-
Yes, but the storyline was USA versus Soviets. The rest of the Allies were hardly even relevant to the plot.
by your logic, storyline in every RA game would be any faction vs Russia, because the rest of the Soviet countries were almost completely irrelevant to the plot.
-
RA1 and RA3 were Allies versus Soviets. RA2 was USA versus Soviets with some battles taking place in other countries and sub-factions available in skirmishes.
USA were part of the Allies faction.
-
but I don't think Russia is necessarily out just because it is in Red Alert
I agree.
RA2 was USA versus Soviet Union
Allies vs Soviets
And within a fictional narrative, there is a huge difference between Russia and the USSR.
maybe.
Russia would actually make a good enemy to both the United States and the GLA if we're throwing around different factions. In all honesty, I think it would be neat if they just went all out with factions. Throw in Russia, Africa (discounting the middle east), hell, even Australia/New Zealand, Mexico/South America... the possibilities are really endless here. As long as they can come up with new and fresh perspective (and not a copy of the units with different models), then this could really turn into a good all-out brawl.
Bring back the "world domination tour" and it's all set. Risk meets C&C.
It would be interesting to see all that countries, but balancing issues could be a huge problem.
Africa (discounting the middle east)
most of the middle east countries belongs to Asia, only Egypt belongs to Africa.

if the APA/Chinese have a tank that big, then imagine if they add a Russian specific faction/general type to the game, the tank would be as big as a.... you do the imagining XD
If Victory going to add another faction (or subfaction) to Generals (2), it's probably going to be USA. Russian (Soviet) faction is reserved for RA universe.

Yes, I'm aware of its really bad practical design, but I thought I've give it the benefit of the doubt, the artist has probably never studied tank design.
it seems they (Victory Games artists) hardly studied anything from "real world" and term "common sense" is almost unknown for them. Unfortunately this ridiculous (cartoony?) and illogical design choices follows every C&C since TW release (predator tank, scorpion tank - barrel's asymmetric position, tank with exposed aircraft-like cockpit, exposed threads, etc). Everything culminated with C&C4. That game is epitome of cartoony unit design. Now we could be considered lucky because Victory ditched (for the most part) EALA's unit design philosophy, even some traces are still present (exposed threads again and some other design choices).

so it seems that updating official forum and website gonna take a little bit longer than originally anticipated?

Recommendation
This. It's really a great mod. It captures that dark and gloomy atmosphere of TS on the best possible way.

I met Jon at the C&C Summit in December 2012. You guys are judging his online persona only, you don't really know the guy, so your negative reaction to his addition to the team at Victory Games is just down right mean. AGM is very passionate about the franchise, he is also very knowledgeable. I think he's a great addition to an already good team.
Yes, we are "mean", and he is a very nice guy who just happens to write very aggressive and offensive forum posts and comments toward anybody who don't share the same opinions as him.
-
I know plenty of people dislike AGM but I think he'll be a positive influence on the multiplayer side of things. Hopefully he'll push the team more towards more 'competitive' gaming as opposed to 'randomness and luck'. As for the single player, yeah just keep him away from that hehe.
I understand what you want to say but there is a "slight" problem: they are not going to do different gameplay mechanics for MP, skirmish and SP. Everything what they do with MP is simply going to reflect on skirmish and SP.

Sad day for C&C.

TS Reborn brings back old memories. Can't wait.

How the hell does Victory have so many devs from ex-New World Computing?
Jon Van Caneghem?
Playing a crapload of Generals isn't going to help him figure C&C out...
I agree, but what you can expect from people who claims that Generals is "classic" C&C game.

And polls exist just for the finding out how much that "some, but not for majority" is.
With this pool we can't find out, because we don't have question like: "Do you think TD and RA mammoth tanks are the same?"
It might be the same as polling which you prefer between the B-29 Superfortress or the Tu-16 Badger. They are at their cores the exact same aircraft, but that doesn't mean you won't get people picking one over the other.
wrong analogy. Let's put it this way: US Abrams M1A2 with NATO woodland camo and Egyptian Abrams M1A1 (export version-downgraded) with desert camo, are they belong to same series of tanks (Abrams M1) or they are completely different tanks?
-
The aesthetics. To some people that dark paint and red star is all it takes.

well said: to some, but not for majority.

Your images don't seem to be working...
And while the basic design is similar, the aesthetics are quite different, and that's what matters in a poll like this.
what's the difference then?
maybe this works:

The in game unit and cameo might be mostly the same, but they are different in the FMVs.
no, they are almost completely the same.
-
Why were TD and RA mammoth tanks separated? Isn't that practically the same tank?
-
That's really nice and atmospheric. GJ.
I agree. It really has that TS feeling.

Hi! Thanks again! Initially I made it for C&C Series website, and this logo in header now. Most likely that VicGames won't estimate it.
Nice job. New logo with classic feel
