  1. I think it's great that games start to make use of more modern technologies. 64-bit processors started to enter the mainstream in 2003 with the release of the Athlon 64 and only today, 9 years later the mainstream start to make proper use of the power 64-bit processors has to offer. In my option Windows XP should have been replaced years ago. Microsoft themselves have stated that Windows XP is a freak version of Windows that lived far over its projected lifespan due to the development issues they had with Windows Longhorn. This is confirmed by looking at the release dates of Windows for the home market: 1.0 (1985), 2.0 (1987), 3.0 (1990), 3.1 (1992), 95 (1995), 98 (1998/1999 for SE), 2000 and ME (2000), XP (2001). Most of these Windows versions were released two or three years apart except for XP which was rushed to meet the failure which was ME in the home market. Longhorn was supposed to be released in 2003, but was pushed to 2006 when it was released as Vista, followed by 7 in 2009 and 8 in 2012. Last time I checked the 32 and 64-bit version of Windows 7 were on the same disc, costing the same. , You will be hard pressed to find a new computer today without a 64.bit version of Windows installed. Computers supporting 64-bit instructions were common even back in 2006. Like it or hate it technology moves on just like everything else (albeit in a faster pace)
  2. That could be fixed by giving the id fadeshow1 a z-index of 0
  3. I just tried it on my laptop which is really stubborn when it comes to Tiberian Sun. The game runs perfectly now! AlxeB you are a god!

    Windows 8... Again

Windows 8 got the most important functionality inn:
  5. There was a few mods released around 2005 and 2004 that gave the GLA an air force All I remember was a release of the "New Tech Mod".
  6. The only reason to buy a 3D monitor is delve into 120 Hz goodness. :3 That is closer then you think.
  7. cnc-ddraw only stretches the game to the resolution you want. When you launch CnCNet hit the settings button before it launches the game and change the exe it launches to Arda's launcher. I'm unsure if Arda is compatible with people playing normal RA 3.03 though.
  8. You gain extra FOV by changing the resolution.
  9. Red Alert doesn't handle high resolutions that well unless you have a pretty decent PC. This is due to bugs in the game engine. The only way to play RA in a higher resolutions is to use Arda or ra-hires. Red Alert without any hacking can only do 640 x 400, 640 x 480 (with black bars) and 320 x 200 (DOS version)
  10. Try to set the renderer in ddraw.ini to opengl
  11. uh, cnc-ddraw + compatibility mode = bad idea. Update C&C1 to 1.06 r2 and use cnc-ddraw (read the configuration section) for both.
  12. That's pretty cool....
  13. If you have the latest version (1.06c r2), change the maxfps option in ddraw.ini to -1 (uses your monitors refresh rate), if that doesn't work change the renderer option in ddraw.ini from opengl to gdi. Edit: added a few missing parts...
  14. Drop it in the media subfolder

    No bases option?

What the no bases option does should be self explanatory; You get no MCV and therefore can't build a base so you have to use what you start with to defeat the enemy. The only way to get new units with no bases on is to enable crates and get units in them.

    RA 95 Mouse Issue

Tried using cnc-ddraw? Read the Configuration part after downloading.
  17. Getting TFD working: - Install the unofficial 1.03 rev4 patch - Install the unofficial C&C 1.06c rev2 patch - Get cnc-ddraw and drop it in your RA folder Done....works on Win7 64-bit
  18. I've encountered a strange issue. It seems like syringe keeps launching ra95.dat for me. I have to kill syringe.exe to make it stop. http://tore.cnc-comm.../lolsyringe.png Edit: nevermind, I renamed the wrong ra95.exe to ra95.dat, I used the ra95.exe launcher, silly me

Its the end of the world!

The Mayans never predicted the end of the world. They only said that the world would be quite different in 2012 compared to the world that lived in about a thousand years ago. If I remember correctly they had two calendars which reset each other once they ended. The end of the world thing was invented by paranoid westerners. Not even modern Mayans believe that the end is nigh.
  22. SUN.ini, RA2.ini and RA2MD.ini are in the directory by default. If not they are generated once the game is started.
