    Mismatch bug

It's because the crack is poorly made.
  2. A new short of the Direct & Dominate: Absolute Units series is out, titled simply "Crates". I'm sure everyone with at least 5 seconds of playtime in C&C games knows what surprises await our dear Pathfinder. Follow the rest of the series on its dedicated YouTube channel.
  3. One of the barriers for entry for Kane's Wrath modding has been the sheer number of official and unofficial versions of its fan-made mod SDK, WrathEd, including the availability of its links. Today, its creator @Lauren (a.k.a. Darth Jane, among many other names) decided to publish an updated version labeled 1.10 to GitHub with its source code and pre-compiled package available to everyone. While modders for Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath have been making their own definitions to fix the issues in the existing ones without direct feedback to her, some of them are incorrect but pull requests are welcome. This is the only release of the tool that will get Lauren's tech support, all others are hereby considered obsolete. For the download, click here, and for the source code itself, step right here (hope you know C#).
  4. Out of nowhere, an EA employee under the tag EA_Aeter wrote a news post on Steam that the C&C Remastered Collection has been patched on the server side with the following changes: Reset the Quickmatch ladder and launched Season 4 Quickmatch ladder resets will now happen automatically every three months at the beginning of each month starting June 1 Removed the Turkey sub-faction Build Speed bonus (essentially reverted back to June 2020 launch status) It is important to note that the Turkey subfaction bonus will remain as it was before this hotfix in skirmish and LAN multiplayer.
  5. For our next Game Night, we want as many people as possible to join. Which is why we want to ask you, our potential players, which game (out of the games we didn't yet cover) would you like to play, and when. The poll will close on 15 December.

  7. A quick update for C&C Remastered Collection has been released, this time focused on fixing several game-breaking bugs that the community has reported since the last patch: Fixed an issue where extra enemy Harvesters would instantly spawn in campaign missions Fixed an issue where extra enemy aircraft would instantly spawn in campaign missions Fixed an issue where the extra Key Binding conflict dialog box was not disappearing (we suppressed this extra dialog for now) Fixed an issue where the radar offline / low power sound is heard after completing a game Fixed a game freeze and connection lost error with player certain games on custom maps Fixed a connection lost error when playing in LAN / Skirmish Fixed an issue where the AI could take over player functions in certain custom maps Fixed an issue where the Repair and Sell commands were not working if you loaded a previous patch save game in the new version Further performance optimization in larger scale maps with tons of resources Expanded the Quickmatch MMR search ranges to help players get into games faster All users should receive the patch automatically upon launching the game on Steam or Origin.
  8. Welcome to the first-ever CNCNZ.com Game Night! For the longest while, I've wanted to make a multiplayer event for our forum members and followers, one where we'd just have fun with a chosen game or mod, without worrying of getting destroyed from higher-skilled players if we didn't want it so. So here's our chance of chilling out and playing C&C together. Free-for-all, 1v1, 2v2, 5v2, prettiest base contest, you name it, we can do it spontaneously. For the first night, we've decided to go with Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge , since it's apparently among the highest-regarded C&C games. If you already haven't done so, make sure your copy is properly installed and patched according to our new guide. The session will take place on CnCNet, so make sure you've downloaded the YR client from their website as well. Don't worry if you were unable to re-enable SafeDisc or your Ultimate Collection version was broken by the recent Origin update, the CnCNet YR client will run skirmishes and multiplayer regardless. There are (a) few rules, which will remain the same for all game nights: No cheating, intentional disconnects or map hacking (includes using one-sided maps where one player/team gets unfair advantages) Don't use exploits intentionally (especially in Tiberium Wars/Kane's Wrath) Treat everyone with respect and don't misbehave Don't teamkill We will make use of our new Discord server, which has a special text channel and four voice channels for the game nights. Hop in through this link: https://discord.gg/4PN3HEa The chosen date and time will be Saturday, 15 July 2017, at 19:00 GMT. You can use a time zone converter to determine what that will be in your time zone. If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to post them below. We hope to see as many of you as possible during the game night! NOTE: This game night was cancelled, as nobody showed up. We did have another go on 27 October 2017 in Tiberian Sun, and it was successful.
  9. So it turns out that at least part of the issues we've had with the site lately have been due to apparent incompatibility of the rather old theme we'd used with newer versions of WordPress. For the time being, I've put a replacement theme, where everything you see is subject to change. What was important to me is that users can now once again use the navigation bar and view the gallery items, which I've received the most messages about. This is not a finalized design by any means, so things can and will change in the near future as alignments are fixed, colour scheme is tweaked, and button visibility is brought up to previous standards.
  10. Exactly 20 years ago (25 October 2000), Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 hit the shelves in North America. It was the first time a Command & Conquer title was developed mostly by a team other than the original Westwood Studios folks at Las Vegas, and the new developers (Westwood Pacific, from Irvine) would end up making one of the highest-regarded titles in the franchise. A true icon of the genre, Red Alert 2 alone brought so many legendary units, quotes and moments to the, by then, already rich gaming world, and is still well-enjoyed to this day. For me personally, Red Alert 2 (with the Yuri's Revenge expansion pack) shares the top spot as favourite C&C game with Tiberium Wars (again, with the Kane's Wrath expansion). It is probably the RTS I've played the most, and one I'd always put as ground zero for anyone who wants to make their own game in the franchise - do not take anything from it (without a valid replacement), just base the gameplay around it. It is always easy to pick up and entertain oneself with, the units and techs are creative, and the campaign never gets old. I only wish that there was a fourth AI difficulty that would actually put up a fight on its own in 1v1... What are your favourite RA2 memories? Let us know!
  11. In Jim Vessella's latest update, he mentions the latest addition to the C&C Remastered Collection source code package - the map editor itself, which is something that the community has loved to expand on for multiple titles in the series. But alas, next week we will see the last intended patch for the C&C Remastered Collection, as the team feels the game has reached the vision that was meant for it during development. It will, however, include bugfixes, quality-of-life changes, and the introduction of the beacon system in multiplayer. Here's the full update: Fellow Command & Conquer fans, It’s been a little over three months since we launched the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection and we continue to be humbled by the response from players around the world. It’s been wonderful to see Command & Conquer back in the mainstream conversation, and the growing community even more engaged in the long-term success of the franchise. Over the past three months our full-time focus has been on supporting the Remastered Collection. We’ve done our best to listen to the community, and deliver upon some of the top requested items in a transparent and collaborative manner. Next week we aim to launch another Major Update for the C&C Remastered Collection. The focus of this update is also on community requests, including a Beacon system to ping your allies and displaying key information on the Multiplayer loading screen, amongst a handful of quality of life improvements and bug fixes. We’ll also aim to reset the leaderboards and incorporate some Matchmaking Rating and timing adjustments to address community feedback. With this patch, we finally feel the C&C Remastered Collection will have achieved the vision we had for the game when we first started development. As such, in our spirit of transparency, we wanted to let the community know we anticipate this will be the last patch for the game. To prepare for this transition, our goal throughout development was to create an ecosystem where the community would have the resources to take the Remastered Collection even further. Within this goal we released the DLLs and source code under the GPL v3.0, embraced community content with the Steam Workshop, and incorporated LAN Play with modding support. Today we want to add one more ingredient to that mix, which is the release of the Map Editor under the GPL v3.0 as well. The Map Editor source code is available now on Github at the link below, and will be included in the root game folder once the upcoming patch goes live. With these assets available to the community, we hope the Remastered Collection and other community projects will continue to thrive for years to come. https://github.com/electronicarts/CnC_Remastered_Collection We’re then soon approaching a special date in franchise history, with September 26th marking the official 25th Anniversary of Tiberian Dawn. We’ve of course been highlighting this anniversary throughout the project, but hope you will all come together for a special week to celebrate this franchise which we all love. Thanks so much for your ongoing support and looking forward to the rest of September. Cheers, Jim Vessella Jimtern This announcement and roadmap may change as we listen to community feedback and continue developing and evolving our Live Service & Content. We will always strive to keep our community as informed as possible.

    Board/card games

In the past few years, I've been involved in the local board gaming scene and helped run a few conventions. Thus, I've had the opportunity to play numerous board/card games in relatively short periods of time, and through that meet some nice people with whom I wouldn't have had any contacts with. Many of these games are simply amazing, from the introductory Settlers of Catan, through the ever-engaging Avalon and the intriguing Scythe, to the arena shooter(!?) Adrenaline. There is literally no niche in board games that hasn't been covered, so there's something for everyone, and more and more are being developed from big companies and small teams alike. What games do you play, what are your experiences? Let's start a thread.
  13. Have you rebooted the system after installing the missing DX9 files? They are installed in system-level directories and will only get properly loaded on bootup.
  14. We could exchange favourite waffle recipes
  15. He doesn't frequent the site.
  16. Tonight is the first night of a C&C birthday like no other - the community is organizing an 8-day marathon of multiplayer game nights in C&C Renegade and its standalone mods to celebrate the 19th anniversary of the game (released on 26 February 2002, Wikipedia is wrong ). Full information is available on the event's Discord server, and if you have issues running vanilla Renegade make sure you've installed it using our guide.
  17. The C&C animation series Direct & Dominate: Absolute Units is back from its brief hiatus with episode 6, following Pathfinder, Packer and Paycheck as they enter a large Viktor/Nod base to learn how exactly Tiberium is processed. The production level of these episodes is noticably ramping up... After watching, check out the newest blooper scene, and consider supporting the project on Patreon and/or Ko-fi.
  18. Some of you who have the original 2000/2001 discs of Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge may have noticed that the setup executable refuses to run on Windows 10 (at least the 64-bit version). I have attempted to go around it, which involves some registry file fiddling and manual file extraction, and it seems to work as far as installation goes, but I still can't get the games to work. Please note that the registry files have my own directory set because I didn't have the time to seek out and test how to do the CurrentFolder method. The procedure does tell you how to change that. With that said, here's a copy of my post from CnC-Comm: Please tell me where things are going wrong and how to set up the games themselves. A hint may lie in this link, but it may not work for you: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=4296.msg31975#msg31975

    Stronghold: Next

So FireFly recently postponed the release of the reveal trailer of Stronghold: Next (working title, duh) for early 2019. But, since I'm moonlighting at GameFront, I took the chance to extract as much info as possible from their dev videos on YouTube (they make some sort of video every single Thursday on any of their games, you gotta hand it to them for transparency!), which resulted in this mastodon of a post. Anyone else hyped cautiously curious on the game?
  20. Since I like archiving old C&C stuff, and Valentine's is getting closer, here are all the links to the RA3 Uprising Valentine's promo videos from 2009. Wonder how these never got mentioned on the site... Brenda Snow: Dasha Fedorovich: Eva McKenna: Commander Hill: Lydia Winters: Takara Sato: Note to moderators: Don't even attempt to embed these. I've learned posts have a 5 video limit the hard way.
  21. The link to our Discord server has unjustly only been in the announcement for our failed first Game Night (we'll organize a new one, don't fret!). So, to all those who are not aware, we have our own Discord server here: https://discord.gg/4PN3HEa There we can talk about anything related and unrelated to the C&C series, as well as organize and coordinate during game nights. There are also channels for modding and our usual news feed. We also have a few voice chat channels. Hop in and join us!
  22. The new patch for the C&C Remastered Collection is now live and available to everyone. There's a lot of changes, including those from the previous two beta branch patches (both documented and previously hidden ones), and possibly some new ones. Read the full change list and roadmap here. NOTE: If you were using the beta branch patches on Steam, make sure you DISABLE the beta participation for the game to receive this update.
  23. You may have seen a bunch of cute and chunky Tiberian Dawn unit videos floating around the community in the past several months. These come from Benjamin Tay, an animator who worked for Lemon Sky Studios (including the C&C remasters), who has decided to make a video series of short stories with such adorable unit designs. Direct & Dominate: Absolute Units follows a GDI light scout and APC scouting around a nearby Nod(dy) base. If you're new to the series, visit the official channel to catch up.
  24. In his first update after the release of the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection, producer Jim Vessella has shown appreciation for the positive response following the release, shouted out the work of @CCHyper who has immensely helped the project and created the new "installation" sequences, and commented on the upcoming patch. His update, in full, is below: Fellow Command & Conquer fans, The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection has now been live for ten days, and our teams have been absolutely humbled by the response from players and journalists around the world. I’ve been spending the past week engrossed in streams, articles, and community comments about the game, trying to absorb every piece of feedback players are providing. But at the same time, also just smiling as I observe players being transported back to their childhood with waves of nostalgia, hopefully providing a positive moment during these times. Congratulations and thank you to everyone in the community for helping to make the launch such a memorable event. I wanted to cover a few topics in today’s post. The first is to highlight one of the most meaningful features of the Remastered Collection - the Installation Videos. Players from around the world have been loving these sequences, with entire articles being written about the emotional reaction they garnered. But unless you went into the Bonus Gallery to read the details, you may not know that these two videos were not created directly by our development teams, but instead by long-time C&C community member, Luke “CCHyper” Feenan. Luke has been an integral part of our Community Council since the beginning of the project. When I learned Luke was a graphics designer by trade, I asked if he would be willing to remaster the installation sequences into something truly special. He created a five-second test for us, and it was instantly clear he would be able to pour the passion and attention to detail into the project. So we contracted Luke to work with us, and over the course of six months he created the sequences, brainstorming with Petroglyph and myself on how to shift them from an “Installation” sequence to an “Upgrade” sequence. We would review the progress with Luke every two weeks or so to provide feedback, and Luke’s skills and creativity were surpassed only by his professionalism. I’m so proud of Luke for creating content that will go down in C&C history, and that the first thing anyone experiences in the Remastered Collection was created by a member of the C&C community. The second topic I wanted to discuss was our upcoming patch. We’re currently putting the final touches on this patch, as we continue to prioritize and react to player feedback. The goal of this patch is multifold: Complete several of the top community requested features which just missed the launch date, including items like Private Game Lobbies and a choosing sub-factions for RA Quickmatch Address many of the top bugs which have been seen in the launch version, including a potential improvement to the framerate stuttering issue Implement some additional quality-of-life improvements, such as enabling the “Deploy” hotkey to unload APCs and multi-queue units on the Repair Facility in Tiberian Dawn (same now as RA) Iterate on our Quickmatch ruleset to ensure we’re creating the proper foundation for competitive play In total, there should be several dozen items addressed in this patch, and we’ll provide a comprehensive set of patch notes when the patch is released. Regarding the Quickmatch rules, we’ve heard strong and unanimous feedback from our engaged multiplayer competitors. In fact, we’re actually able to make several of these changes on the backend and have decided to implement several of these changes effective later today. The key changes to Quickmatch as requested by the community are the following: Increasing the Game Speed from Normal to Fast Reducing the Starting Units to zero Removing Aftermath units from Quickmatch in Red Alert (due to extreme balance issues) Adding two more maps to the Tiberian Dawn map rotation: Monkey in the Middle, One Pass Fits All We’re hoping the community can play with these changes over the next week and continue to provide us feedback as we strive to improve this mode of the game. Thanks again for all the appreciative words over the past ten days, and please continue to provide your feedback so we can improve your experience with the Remastered Collection. Cheers, Jim Vessella Jimtern
  25. There's been a few news in the Command & Conquer community in recent times, so here's a round-up: Direct & Dominate: Absolute Units episode 4 is out (shown above) Amars90 has conducted interviews with Frank Klepacki and Jim Vessella for United-Forum.de, and will premiere an interview with Joe Kucan on August 7th (Friday) at 20:00 CEST as part of their celebration of 25 years of C&C on Twitch, alongside content from other creators. The YouTube channel AI & Games has posted an analysis video on the AI in the C&C Remastered Collection. The annual World Series tournament in Zero Hour ended, with BoYcaH earning his first title. An overview with links to all replays from the event is here.
