  1. As far as I remebmer, the trains in Generals were nothing more than a road texture to create the tracks and map scripts ("follow waypoint path") to create the movement. Should still be possible in CnC.
  2. And we have arrived at fullblow nazi conspiracy theories. And thats for totally ignoring any of the points I made in my posting above. Are you even aware what Heß did? He was one of the people responsible for the Holocaust - a lot of the anti jewish laws were based on his suggestions. And, as Hitlers second in command, he knew about and supported the nazi crimes. No, not every nation. Just those who opposed. Again, by 41 germany was allready at war with most of europe. How would that even work? He could have passed a message from England to Germany since he was imprissoned and the Germany was at war with England LONG before the attack against the Soviet Union. England and France declared war on Hitler AFTER his armys attacked Poland, one of Englands allies. Hitler KNEW that could happen and still risked that. You cant really blame Churchill for keeping his promise to his allies. Even if Einstein had removed Churchill, I doubt the UK would have broken the alliance. Ever heard of the London Blitz or the Battle of Britain? The Luftwaffe bombed London every night for about 2 month in a row, long before the Royal Air Force could attack german cities. Or have you heard of german subs and their battle in the atlantik against british trading ships and the Royal Navy? And all of this happend before Heß flight to England. And Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg and all the other countries that were neither England or the SU and still would have been attacked by germany for varius reasons . But as Plokite_Wolf allreays said, you seem to have absolutly no idea what your talking about, so I guess this is my last posting in that regard.
  3. "Normally the great men that we admire from a distance lose their magic when one knows them well. With Hitler the opposite is true." "We believe that the Fuhrer is fulfilling a divine mission to German destiny! This belief is beyond challenge." "With all our powers we will endeavour to be worthy of the Fuhrer thou, O Lord, has sent us! " Heck, during the Nuremberg Trials he said he was proud of serving Hitler and he had no regrets. So yes, whatever his views might have been, in regard to Hitler he certainly was the lackey he's made out to be. What exactly do you mean by "retreated at this time"? Becaus Heß flew to England in May 41, Barbarossa (attack against the SU) startet in June 41 and the first mejor defeat happend in Stalingrad in winter 42/43. I fail to see how Heß flight had any effect on the whole thing. So... what was your point again? Also: A war isnt something you can run away from. Sure, you can retreat, but how does this help to end the war? Both Hitler and Stalin knew that only one could win - there would have been no truce between them, one had to lose. Exept there isnt any prove of that. He might have done it out of goodwill or because he was an idiot. Because if he didnt let them escape, the british army would have been crippled and might have agreed to a truce or at least wouldnt be a treat anymore for a while. Letting the enemy escape in the hope they might not continue fighting is incredible retarded - especially as he knew that there was no way he could invade the british isles. Are you serious? Are you really asking why one of the most famous Nazi members was jailed for life? If the British were that much concerned about him, why did he get a jail sentence instead of a death sentence (like the soviets wanted). Would have been a way easier solution to the whole thing. And yes, the son doenst believe his father killed himself. Thats ALLWAYS the case when someone famoues dies. Doenst make it true. By this time (Mai 1941), Hitlers armys had attacked Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Czechoslovakia (well, anexed it against its will), was fighting in Yoguslavia and Greece and was preparing for an attack against the worlds largest country and its allies. Clearly, Hitler was a excellent diplomat who wanted nothing but peace. Yes, Hitler wanted peace in early 41 - because the UK was the only enemy left and he knew he couldnt hope to invade the islands. Not because he was a nice person or some other bull****.
  4. Declaring what war again? England was at war with Germany for about a year and the Battle of Britain was allready over when Heß tried to negotiate, a bit late to prevent anything. BULL**** 1. Fighting against the SU was the whole core of Hitlers ideology - the communists were basicly his arch nemesis, everything else was just means to an end to prepare for this. Taking him out if it is unlikely, even delaying it would have been hard since the attack needed to take place in the summer and he wanted to end the war fast. 2. Heß was a yes man wo believed that Hitler was gods gift to germany and that his commands should allways be followed, no matter what. Its very doubtfull that he would have tried to argue with Hitler, not to mention to convice Hitler to delay the whole point of this war.

Age Of Empires / Age Of Mythology

I think the other one was Empire Earth, basicly AoE with more ages and in 3D. Never played EE or RoN (aside from the demos in some gaming magazines back in the day), as I kinda liked the medieval setting and later switched to Medieval: Total War. And frankly the scope of that game just made anything else seem boring in comparission.

Age Of Empires / Age Of Mythology

Yeah, AoE2 was (and still is) a great game. Its gameplay is fun and the highly detailed 2D sprites have aged far better than the low res 3D games from that time. Also an great campaign and a map editor that is simple, yet offers TONs of options. Quite possible the first game aside from the CNC series that got me interested in mapping and modding. My only problem with the current steam version is the low res intro and the controlls as I cant seem to find/memorize a lot of hotkeys... But that seems to be a common problem for old games. xD I remember playing AoE1 long ago (a while after the Conquerors addon for AoE2 was released) and beeing disappointed by its grafics (Aoe2 was really a big step forwards), but the gameplay was good. Also got AoE3 on steam, but I dont think I ever played it.
  7. DamageAndSpawnNugget is not used in KW but works fine. I distantly remember helping someone adding it and it turned out the defines for WrathEd hat a small error, hence the game could not read it correctly. Once that was fixed, it worked just like in TW.
  8. I recently run accross a annoying problem in 3ds max that I cant figure out: Some parts of my models gets resized when exporting: Basicly, I imported the CnC4 Reaper, split the laser gun from the obelisk on its back and want to export it. If I use WWskin or dont link the new mesh to anything, it works fine. But if I link it to a bone directly (no point in using wwskin since it it only affected by a single bone), it gets waaaayyyy to big in the w3x. Its like the model is 50% bigger than it should be. I also noticed that this only happens if I use an existing skelleton for the model - if I export the whole model including the bones, it looks fine. Any idea what exactly is causing this and how I can prevent if?

    Mod Help

Where exactly is your mods folder located?
  10. Is this just a statement or are you actually wanting to know something? Try adding it to a TW mod, the compiler might give you a better error message.
  11. Make it a simple animation maybe? Use a large preattack delay and play an animation that moves the firing bone upwards so it can fire down and then kill itself once it has fired. Also set the moving part as turret so it turnt to the target.
  12. No, the name has no importance to the w3x - the only thing that matters is the order of bones and their consecutive numbering. Also, where did you get that skelleton? Pretty sure bibbers w3x extractor should get most names from the TT models correctly.
  13. C&C Field. Even after all these years, I still remember the map with its tunnels, bunkers and its waterfall in the middle. Great map that was fairly balanced (maybe aside from Nod nuking that barracks from inside the tunnel >_> ) and was fun to play for both sides... All these GDI MLRS and tanks constantly shooting at the HoN and the anger/glee when a GDI attack force was whipped out because someone left his mammoth for repairs... good times.
  14. Well, there goes my idea for chrismas... Still, nice to see that the files are finally addvaible for everyone.
  15. RA2 in 3d is allready something cool in its own A amazing as the video is, I cant shake off the feeling that the VR controlls seem ill suited for a fast and bustling game like an RTS - especially when it comes to moving around the map, the player seems to struggle in some szene. Still, its a great proof of concept, hopefully it will be futher refined.
  16. Yeah, they should really have done that again. But dont forget the mission where you had to get a spy inside a soviet tech center to free Tanya, then get Tanya to safety and use your reinforcements to crush another soviet base. Or the mission where you had to protect the allied lab working on the Chronosphere while the enemy troops attacked from all directions... Or the one where you had to destroy the nuke missile silos.... just to get a video telling you that the missiles launched and you now have to capture the command center and disable the controlls before the missiles reach their targets... Or the soviet mission where you had to protect a NPC convoy with your aircrafts... That game had some really, really awesome missions. @ Nmenth True, they were called cruiser ingame, but the cinematics allways showed battelships. They just seem to fit the spirit of Red Alert better, carrier feel far to modern.
  17. Yeah, RA1 was/is perhaps the best game in the entire franchise. No other CnC game came even close to its single player campaign - a huge variety on mission objectives and cinematics that really gave an idea how much was at stake... And the new skirmish/multiplayer gave it far more replay value than CnC1. Even TS with its random map generator didnt come close. Heck, I am pretty sure I havnt played RA in the last decade but I can still remeber A Path Beyond, my favorit map in the entire game. And it had battleships. That alone makes it superior to RA2&3 with their crappy carriers.
  18. It should not, but it did - at least laser and repair show again the right way, but the lights are still missing >_>
  19. As some of you may know, I tried to turn the CnC4 Nod Widow into an Epic unit for my CABAL faction. However, I am running into quite a lot model related bugs that I just dont understand. (FYI: I exported to base model as w3x and added the turrets and addons later into the w3x) 1. None of the Turrets seem to pitch. All 5 turrets (main + 4 addons) have AllowsPitch=true and the model should support it, but none seem to move the barrel to target the enemy. 2. Lights do not show. Each addon slot should have 1 light that disappears when that slot is used. They look fine in w3xviewer but are invisible ingame :/ 3. Turrets dont hide/show the way they should Initially, there was a repair turret and a cannon turret that worked fine (as far as I remember >_> ). Once I added the laser turret however, it got weird: -The laser turrets are hiden ingame despite nothing in the xml/LUA telling the game to hide it. -Once you get the laser ugrade, the turrets are shown. However, it also shows the repair turret at the same time. -The repair upgrade shows particle effects but doesnt show the turrets despite having worked before. Cannon Turrets still work perfectly so I asumed it was sometinhg with the bones, but Repair and and Laser arent event attached to the same bone in W3DContainer. XML code: http://pastebin.com/Pi4E2fdX I am assuming its some problem with the LUA script hiding the wrong parts of the model, but frankly I have no idea about the whole thing D:
  20. Well, not directly, but they are all attached to the same bone in W3DContainer.
  21. I didnt set the "Hide" setting in 3ds, I did it with LUA. However, it seems if I hide either the Repair or the Laser turret, the other one will also be hidden. No idea why >_>
  22. They certainly added a lot of TS style units to Arena in the beginning: -KWs Titan and Wolverin were meant for Arena -GDI grenadiers with a disc weapon (the concept art from above), Orca Bombers and flying GDI infantry (tooltip sounds like RA2 Rocketeers) are mentioned in leftovers -Sandstorm and Mastodon are almost certainly from this phase of development and clearly based on TS units I am not certain if these units were additions to the TW unit list or replacements, but as far as I understood the idea, the player would have been able to customize their army and their units from a large unit pool. So you could choose what units you wanted in your army (do you want a Predator or a Titan as MBT? A Firehawk or an Orca Bomber?) and customize the unit with skins and weapons. From that I can tell, the unit roster consisted of reimagined TS units (see above), TW/KW units (not sure if the KW units were added to Arena or if they were initially meant for Arena and later added to KW) and a couple of new ones. When EALA was forced to turn it into CnC4, they updated/merged/cut a lot of these units designs.
  23. To be honest, that isnt a Zone Raider Concept. Its a TS style grenadier (Arena had a lot of units from older games) that got cut during development. A couple of leftovers where still in the released game. As the KW Titan and Wolverine (and a couple of other units) were meant for Arena, its safe to safe that both games were developed at the same time.
  24. So basicly the EA just solved that problem by adding a dummy? Good to know xD Pretty sure the soldiers need to have their own specialpower for USING_SPECIAL_ABILITY to work. And it needs to have the same timing as the squad ability.
