  1. I totally forgot to post this the other day. The problems with our downloads being blocked have been fixed and you should have no more warnings or horrible messages when attempting to download anything from CNCNZ.com. Popular sections like the Freeware Classic Command & Conquer Games, C&C Patch Centre, our GenTool mirror, are all 100% safe and available. Without going into to much detail, I can confirm that no data was compromised, there were no files containing malicious code. But something was reported to sources like Google as being suspicious so the block was put in place as a precaution. We are glad to have it sorted. And we apologise for inconvenience this may have caused.
  2. It has come to my attention that visitors using either Firefox or Chrome as their browser will probably be unable to download files from CNCNZ.com. For reasons unknown to me at this time the downloads are essentially blocked. The files will actually download, but your browser will block them due to them being suspect or containing malicious code. I've been running checks on everything through out the entire site but I've found nothing out of the ordinary. So I have further steps to take to get things back to normal. This means sections like Freeware Classic Command & Conquer Games, C&C Patch Centre, our GenTool mirror, or anywhere you see a download button are out of action. The good news. I've check all these files off-line and I can assure you that are 100% clean. CNCNZ.com doesn't host any harmful content and we plan to keep it that way. However this doesn't remove the blocks and warnings that can appear. We apologise for the current problem and we hope to have rectified as soon as possible,
  3. After a 2 year absence, the Roundtable Discussion finally returns. In Roundtable Discussion #36 we talk about the current state of the franchise, has the interest level in the franchise and/or the community changed, the most interesting things happening in the community right now, and lastly, what does EA need to do to bring Command & Conquer back and when. We even went out and found some long time C&C community members to join in as well and share their thoughts. CNCNZ.com Staff: Sonic, Nmenth, Doctor Destiny, Plokite_Wolf, gben, dbjs2009, DVD Player Invited Guests Tore (CNC Comm), One Winged Angel (W3D Hub), ToxicShock (GameReplays.org), Sybert (CBCPT) I've updated how the Roundtable article is presented just bit since we last did one. Click here to read Roundtable Discussion #36. Feel free to comment and share your feedback on this Roundtable. Update: We fixed some errors on the Roundtable page that managed to find their way in, these errors did effect the readability just a bit. Sorry about that.
  4. The new theme for the forum is up and running, its designed around the colours and style that arrived with the new look main site in early February. Like the main site, the primary focus was to refresh the blue colours. The change is noticeable here on the forums, but is not as significant as the main site. I didn't want to go crazy changing everything, just introduce the new things. "cncnzNewBlue", the name of the theme, uses a new top header background, I fixed the top navigation tabs so the active tab matches the the page selected. Most of the black backgrounds have been stripped out in favour of a very dark blue. Other than that I have not changed many other colours. Even the though the new them is active I'll still be tweaking a few extra things here and there as I see them, stuff that I've missed etc.... If you spot something that doesn't look right please let me know in this topic. The previous theme, "cncnzBlueRes", is still available for those who want to use it. Use the Change Theme pop up menu at the bottom to switch between them. And while we are on the subject of themes. The original IP.Board light theme has been temporarily disabled due a problem with it that I discovered while testing and working on this new one. I doubt many people used it anyway.
  5. It's been missing for awhile now, and now it's back. It's "Time To Play The Game"... again. In other words one of our catchy slogans from the past has returned to be part the official site logo. No real reason for it being back, other than the time was right. C&C games are meant to be played!
  6. A little late in posting this, as its already ticked over to the 2nd of January here in New Zealand. It's well and truly 2015 everywhere in the world now. I guess we can look back on 2014 as very disappointing year in terms of Command & Conquer. With no official word from EA about the franchise's future since the October 2013 cancellation of Command & Conquer, it was extremely difficult to keep CNCNZ.com fresh and updated. Many of our staff have moved on (or lost interest) and anything that was in the works has been put on on hold indefinitely. We did keep up with most modding news though, but we can only post so much. In the past couple months my own motivation as dropped somewhat. It wasn't all doom and gloom during the past Command & Conquer year though. The Totem Arts team deserve some recognition for delivering two major releases of Renegade X. The rebirth of Renegade's unrivalled gameplay received plenty of coverage here at CNCNZ.com and lots of high praise around the community. On a personal note, Renegade X would have to be my C&C highlight of the year. And the efforts of Revora creating C&C: Online must be mentioned as well. Games like Generals, Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3 would be dead and buried without C&C: Online. stepping in after the demise of GameSpy. So make sure you give them some support, especially if you still continue to play online and have fun doing so. As I've always done in the past, I post a quick list of credits and thanks to those who make CNCNZ.com possible. The CNCNZ.com Staff have contributed unique content for the site and forums throughout the year. For many years now our friends at at Revora have provided our hosting, without their support CNCNZ.com would obviously be nothing. Many thanks and respect goes to all supporters, visitors and members on our forums, as well as other our friends through out the Command & Conquer Community. So it's a Happy New Year from CNCNZ.com! We have no idea what 2015 holds for Command & Conquer. Will EA blow the dust off the franchise and bring it back? Is the franchise still relevant? I will admit for the first time in many years I'm not sure if CNCNZ.com will make it to 2016, but my commitment remains strong. Let's take it month by month and see how things go.
  7. DVD Player, a recent addition to our newly established Articles Team, has submitted his first article. "Camp Corner" is a new series of articles that will take closer look into the stories and settings of the Command & Conquer series. With the first one focusing on Red Alert. Here's a small sample.... Click here to read the full article.
  8. The new look design for CNCNZ.com is now up and running. Its a mix of old and new, still retaining our classic blue colour scheme, with one slight twist. The menus to navigate around the site should not only look better but from my testing should work better. Everything else is basically the same. You will also notice that our unofficial site mascot, the always impressive Mammoth Mark II, is now on display as a feature background. I'm still fixing a few bugs on the main page with how the news displays and some other minor things I've spotted around the site that need some fine tuning, but other than that our latest design is live. Feel free to share your comments, feedback or report anything that looks broken.
  9. The time has come to kick some life back into CNCNZ.com. And that can't be done alone. So we are now are on the hunt to add new people to our team. Official numbers have not been set, at this stage its a case of gauging interest. Are you still a passionate Command & Conquer fan? Do you have faith in the franchise? If that is you, its the sort of person we need on our side. The following positions are currently open. The requirements are flexible. News Team: People on our News Team will be required to search the C&C community and various other sources for C&C news, modding news and community news. Follow our pre-designed templates Correct spelling and grammar Professionally presented news updates Someone to cover the C&C online tournament scene would be a bonus Articles Team: People who would be interested should obviously enjoy writing, and be a C&C fan, of course. You will be asked to write articles covering a wide range of subjects, looking at the issues in our community, modding tutorials, discussing strategies and guides for improving a players C&C online skills and more. As an article writer, you will be in charge of coming up with fresh ideas for new articles that you think other C&C fans would be interested in reading. Have a look back through our past articles to see what former contributors have come up with. Follow our pre-designed template Correct spelling and grammar No HTML necessary, CNCNZ.com has a powerful backend with built in editing tools. If you can post on a forum you can create content for our site. Professionally presented articles Anyone interested in joining the CNCNZ.com staff as a part of our News Team or Articles Team can simply post a reply in this news thread and we will take it from there. If you would prefer, you can send me a quick a private message. Include any questions you may have. I'm considering this step one in a mini revival of CNCNZ.com, so why not jump on and join the ride!
  10. Can you believe that Christmas has come around once again? If you have been visiting CNCNZ.com over the years, you will know that I usually post some sort of C&C related Christmas image to sign off for the Christmas break. Well this year I've had to dig through the archives for this year's image. A new one couldn't be made since I don't have the right software installed to make new images right now. This is one of my favourite images, Santa Kane returns to say Merry Christmas. The team here at CNCNZ.com would like to wish all of our visitors and community friends a Merry Christmas! We thank all of you for the support once again through out the past year. Have a great Christmas Day! Please feel free to leave your own Christmas greetings and wishes in this news thread.
  11. Did you know the CNCNZ.com team is playing Renegade X, just look for the "-CNCNZ" tag our names. So if you see some of us in the game feel free to say hi, if we are on opposing sides.... take your best shot
  12. For those who don't know we have been experiencing problems with our downloads system in recent weeks. The problem has been fixed but the decision was made to close down the existing downloads section and scale it back. Since CNCNZ.com is a news and information site, and not a file repository, we are now only hosting a few selected downloads such as the official patches. So with that in mind the Command & Conquer Patch Centre and been created. Your one stop location to download all of the patches for every Command & Conquer game. The Command & Conquer Patch Centre can always be found under the Features menu on the main site.
  13. Due to some technical difficulties, some of our larger downloads are currently unavailable, these larger files are stored on another mirror. It will take some time to fix this, but a plan has been put into action to sort it out as soon as possible. This problem only effects a handful of our files, the majority of them are still online and available for download. We apologise for any convenience.
  14. What was once buried away inside our forums is now a full feature on the main site. 50 different bits of Command & Conquer Trivia, spread across 5 pages. Some of it you may know, but perhaps there are some you don't know. It spans the entire franchise and includes lots of images and videos. Click here to read them all. Thanks to Plokite_Wolf for collecting these.
  15. No website is ever truly 100% complete. So with that in mind, I've been spending a lot of time over the past few weeks adding new content to various areas of the site, as well as updating existing pages. Some stuff has even been pulled from our news archives to be archived as features on our main site. Content updates don't get mentioned too often but I felt our visitors should at least see a summary of what is new. New Features The Music of Command & Conquer CommandCOM 2013 – Eric Krause C&C Community Manager Interview CommandCom 2009: Joe Kucan Presentation CommandCom 2009: Louis Castle Presentation – History of Command & Conquer Renegade X Beginner’s Guide GDI Vehicles Nod Vehicles Technical Support & Help Guides Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour v1.01 – v1.04 Patch History Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge Patch Version 1.001 Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars v1.01 – v1.09 Patch History Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun v1.16 – v2.03 Patch History Command & Conquer: The First Decade Patch Version 1.02 Command & Conquer Renegade v1.012 – v1.037 Patch History Red Alert 2 v1.003 – v1.006 Patch History Red Alert 3 v1.01 – v1.12 Patch History Red Alert Patch Version 1.08PE Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath v1.01 – v1.02 Patch History Command & Conquer Generals v1.01 – v1.08 Patch History Command & Conquer DOS Patch Version 1.22 Help Guide for Newcomers (Tiberium Alliances) How to Check Browser Version and Update It (Tiberium Alliances) So that's just a quick look at what's been added recently. I still have more content to add and pages to update. So keep checking back.
  16. You may have noticed that things have slowed down around CNCNZ.com, and the C&C Community a lot in recent weeks. CNCNZ.com is a basic reflection of the community, if there is nothing happening, not much news gets posted. There have been some internal changes within our site. Most of, it not all, of our staff have essentially moved on. Projects like Command & Conquer Legos have reached their end, others are inactive for now. And for me personally, changes have been made in my personal life that have seen me having to neglect CNCNZ.com for the time being. Having some medical problems doesn't help either. I have received some e-mails and messages asking about the status of CNCNZ.com. Will it be closing? No more news? So I felt it best to publicly address all the questions here. A recent update on Project Perfect Mod also got me thinking about how CNCNZ.com is last of many C&C fansites that are still active. And, no I doubt I'll ever get bored of posting Renegade X news, Renegade X thing is the best to happen to the C&C Community in the past few months. Read the update on PPM for more. The good news is things are getting better for me personally and health wise. I'm still dedicated to this site. It has become part of me. I just have to put things on hold for awhile longer. CNCNZ.com will always be here, there are no plans to close it, as to what it covers in the future remains to be seen. Like a lot of fans, we are waiting and wondering to find out if EA will bring Command & Conquer back. As a long time Command & Conquer fan, I certainly hope to see Command & Conquer return to its glory days.
  17. CNCNZ.com is an old site these days, some might say it's the last of a dying breed. As time goes by we get bigger and bigger. But just how big has CNCNZ.com gotten over the years? Well some of these numbers may paint a picture for you. So let's break down some statistics here..... Main Site Content 524 pages 4073 individual images 5.5 GB of disk space used 15000 total files (approximately) Downloads 284 files 73 file categories 1519677 individual downloads 91341 makes the RA2 Patch v1.006 the most downloaded file Forums 4069 members 198754 total posts 4178 posts are news topics 36902978 topic views Just because these numbers have been published, doesn't mean we are finished. There are always new pages, new images, new files and more being added. For example the new Technical Support & Help Guides section has just been added, it's a work in progress right now though. Plus if you look inside the Games section you will see we now have pages for all the Command & Conquer games that have been released for various mobile platforms. Red Alert on your iPhone or iPad anyone? CNCNZ.com is on a new path, a new mission. We aim to build this site even more over the next few months. We have a vision to create a monumental shrine to the Command & Conquer franchise. We are in a bit of a holding pattern right now in terms of the franchise's future. But for now, let's all focus on the now, and the past. Let's celebrate how far this franchise has come, because it's been one of hell of ride so far! You're not reading to get this ride yet are you?
  18. Since our Downloads section re-opened I've been asked by a couple of visitors, how do you link to or share a link to a particular file on CNCNZ.com? With some extra coding, every download now has what is known as a "Permalink". Located just next to the "Details" button, as seen in the sample image below. All you have to do is right click here to copy and paste a Permalink to the file of your choice, this can be shared anywhere. This is the ONLY way to link to our files on CNCNZ.com. The real download links are hidden and we have blocked direct linking or "hot-linking" to our files.
  19. Found something elsewhere in the Command & Conquer Community you think we should report? It could be something about your site, your modding related project or another Command & Conquer community related announcement. Its very easy to contact the CNCNZ.com news team, you can do do by filling out the form on our Send us a News Tip page. When appropriate, we’ll credit you for providing us with the story. Whether there’s breaking news, or we’ve simply missed something, send your news tips our way!
  20. Our Downloads section is back up and running once again. It was taken off-line about 2 weeks ago for some unexpected maintenance. Long story short, the system that was in place was not functioning correctly and had to be rebuilt from the beginning. The new Downloads section is closely integrated with the main site. This means if you can't find the files you're looking for just enter the key words in the search box at the top of any page on the main site. The main Downloads index is present by each of the three C&C universes, then broken down into various categories. Clicking on the logo for each game with give you an overview of what's inside each category. Many of the files on offer have thumbnail previews, updated information, fully tracked download statistics. While you're browsing, simply click on the "Details" button to expand the download panel and show the detailed information. If you have any questions or you have found a problem, please let us know.
  21. Just a quick status update about our Downloads section that is still down for maintenance. It's taken a bit longer than originally planned to sort out the problems we have been experiencing with our Downloads system, most of this is behind the scenes. Essentially, it is being rebuilt from the ground up again. Popular files like the Command & Conquer: The First Decade - Unofficial Patch and Command & Conquer Gold - Unofficial Patch are still available for download though. There is still a lot work to be done, but the aim is to have the Downloads section back up and running early next week.
  22. There are new favicons for the site, and of course the forums. Its just minor edit really. Darkened the background colours, trying to avoid a washed out look as it shrinks, making the "C" stand out a bit more. There is only so much you can display in 16x16 icon. The actual icon is 32x32, but shrinks to 16x16 in your browser. This is what looks like... There is support for mobile users now as well. With various support for older devices. iPhone 5/5c/iPad will use the large 152x152 image. So if you add CNCNZ.com to your Smartphone's home screen and/or bookmarks you should get something like this (tested with an iPhone 5 on iOS7, not sure how if it works on Android phones.).... It make take awhile before your web browser caches the new icons.
  23. Due to some problems, we have had to take our Downloads section temporarily off-line. Over the past week we have been experiencing problems with the scripts we use to track and present our files. So until further notice our Downloads section is back to "under construction" mode. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. We hope to have things restored as soon as possible.
  24. Here in New Zealand we have officially arrived in 2014. We survived another year. For CNCNZ.com, 2013 can be looked back on as another successful year, but in terms of the community things really dried up towards the end, especially with the disappointing cancellation of Command & Conquer and the closure of Victory Games. So while we have no idea what's going to happen in 2014 for Command & Conquer, or maybe even further than that, we have some big plans and ideas for this place. Phase one of that plan was the relaunch of the site last month. When I make these New Year posts I always like to share a short list of credits and thanks to those who make CNCNZ.com possible. A big thanks to the CNCNZ.com Staff for their efforts on the site and forums throughout the year, keeping some of regualr feature ticking over. Once again, we received awesome hosting from our friends at at Revora. Phil and the crew there do a great job! And a huge amount of thanks goes to all supporters, visitors and members on our forums, as well as other our friends through out the Command & Conquer Community. So it's a Happy New Year from CNCNZ.com! Stick with us in 2014, the future looks uncertain but CNCNZ.com is still here, conquering it all, 24/7/365!
  25. Well its Christmas time once again, that means its time to post our traditional Christmas sign off message for the Christmas break. Each year I try to come with a new image. This year I used some of the cool art from the cancelled Command & Conquer game. So here's Dr. Thrax wishing you toxic free Christmas! So with that said, on behalf of the entire team here at CNCNZ.com, I'd like to wish all of our visitors and community friends a Merry Christmas! Thank you for all of the support once again through out 2013. Have a great Christmas Day! Please feel free to leave your own Christmas greetings and wishes in this news thread.
