  1. We're not jumping to conclusions here, but perhaps this is a clue that a new Command & Conquer game or project in the early stages of development within EA. A recent job listing post has added some fuel to the fire of speculation. EA Mobile is currently looking innovate on one of their most beloved IPs, and in the process they are looking for an exceptionally skilled and enthusiastic Combat Designer. And a little insider news tip, this new position will be working directly with Jim Vessella, who was part of the previous Command & Conquer development team back in the EALA days. So its all just speculation and guess work right now, but you never know. You can read the full job listing post right here. Thanks to Cypher for the news.
  2. In EA's official quarterly earnings call for Q3 of the current fiscal year that was released two days ago, the company touched on the performance of Command & Conquer: Rivals. EA seems to lament every single release as "below expectations" and try to hunt for a scapegoat for that outside the company (e.g. the same earnings call blamed the "poor" performance of Battlefield V on the "competition" of Fortnite and Red Dead Redemption II) instead of their own shortcomings. It would appear that the level of attention given to Rivals from its own separate fanbase, which surprised in size even myself as someone who immediately prepared a casket for it as soon as I heard about it, is not enough for the once overconfident publisher whose stocks have taken an insane dive in the past several months, and which fell even further on the day the earnings call was released alongside the stocks of many other publishers. On a personal note, I'd just like to share my disbelief at the lack of self-reflection executives and select developers within major companies have, taking absolutely no responsibility of their own and blaming everyone and everything else for their own failures. If EA manages to survive the year without major blows, we are looking at an upcoming C&C remaster release which brings hope that at least someone (you know who you are) recognizes that their own customers matter more than shareholders in the long run, but time will tell sooner rather than later whether that will be properly put in deeds and not just words.
  3. After a period of silence, EA producer Jim Vessella posted a new update on Command & Conquer: Remastered, this time concerning the sidebar, and entering full production. He had this to say: The post was originally made on the C&C subreddit.
  4. Mere minutes ago, EA producer Jim Vessella posted an update regarding the status of the original C&C source codes and what engine they will be using for C&C Remastered and Red Alert Remastered. This debunks a long-standing belief in the community that the source codes of Westwood-era titles have been lost, which is definitely good news!
  5. As of today, Command & Conquer titles that were released on the Xbox 360 back in the 2007-2009 period are officially available for the Xbox One as part of their backwards compatibility program. You can buy these titles from the following links, or just insert your Xbox 360 disc into your Xbox One console: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath (currently only the Map Pack is purchasable) Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (with Decimation Map Pack) Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Commander's Challenge I have inquired with Xbox Support on why C&C 3: Kane's Wrath is not listed as a separate purchase like the others are, and it seems it is still under review with no real ETA on when it will be publicly available, just to keep an eye on updates in the rest of the week. Stay tuned for more info.
  6. About half an hour ago, Jim Vessella posted an update on the progress with Command & Conquer: Remastered and Red Alert: Remastered on the C&C subreddit, which we bring you in its entirety:
  7. We've just received word that Jim Vessella, former EA Los Angeles producer (followers of Battlecast Primetime have seen him repeatedly) and current developer on C&C Rivals, has made an official statement on the OpenRA website about EA's interest in making a PC Command & Conquer game, which includes the possibility for remastering classic titles for the upcoming 25th anniversary of the series. Here is the entirety of his post: Fellow Command & Conquer fans, My name is Jim Vessella, and I’m a Producer at Electronic Arts. Ten years ago I had the pleasure of being on the production team for Command & Conquer 3 and Red Alert 3, along with being the Lead Producer on Kane’s Wrath. During those years, some of my favorite moments were interacting with our passionate community, whether at our onsite Community Summits, on the forums, or while attending various events such as Gamescom. As most of you may know, we recently announced Command & Conquer: Rivals, a mobile game set in the Command & Conquer universe. Following the reveal of Rivals, we heard you loud and clear: the Command & Conquer community also wants to see the franchise return to PC. And as a fan of C&C for over 20 years, I couldn’t agree more. With that in mind we’ve been exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary. We are eager to hear your feedback to help influence our current thoughts for PC and what comes next. Over the next few weeks we’ll be talking to fans in a variety of ways. In the meantime, please share your thoughts here on the OpenRA forums. As a long time C&C fan and developer, I am just as passionate about the C&C franchise as you are, and look forward to hearing your thoughts as they help us shape the future of C&C at EA! Thanks! Jim Vessella Jimtern EDIT: There's also a Reddit thread going on with Jim Vessella answering some questions and concerns.
  8. The recently released Mass Effect: Andromeda by BioWare appears to make use of assets held by EA that were not part of the series. Above you see the Movie Night sidequest scene, which plays the "Light Infantry" music track from C&C 3: Tiberium Wars. This is not the first time the Tiberium Wars soundtrack was used in media not associated with the Command & Conquer series, as different tracks were heard in Survivor, Top Gear, and Mongrels television shows.
  9. Do EA have plans to revive the Command & Conquer project that was cancelled way back in October 2013? According this poorly written article from the most unlikely source, The Gospel Herald, the author alludes to this fact, EA could be planning a Command & Conquer resurrection sometime soon. The more likely scenario here, based on the quality of the entire article, the author doesn't have a clue. So I'll have to file this under the "rumour" category. Here's the most interesting part.... So it's not the strongest of stories to go by. But it would be cool if it turned out to be true. We have not heard anything official from EA about the future of Command & Conquer since October/November 2013. I'll leave it to you guys to decide if there is any truth to this. I know which way I'm leaning. Full article can be found here.
  10. EA has put its Origin catalogue on discount for the Black Friday sale. This, of course, goes for C&C games, which are 50% off individually and 75% off for The Ultimate Collection. Now is your chance to get that game you're missing. These are the prices for Europe: C&C 3: Kane's Wrath - €2,49 C&C: Red Alert 3 - €4,99 C&C: Red Alert 3 - Uprising - €4,99 C&C 4: Tiberian Twilight - €4,99 C&C: The Ultimate Collection - €7,49 At the time of writing, C&C 3: Tiberium Wars did not have a visible entry on Origin for Europe for some reason.
  11. The Infinite Gaming Sale has started on Origin this week and there are some big savings on Command & Conquer games. Prices have been reduced by 50% to 75%. Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection - NZ$6.24 Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight - NZ$4.99 Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising - NZ$2.49 Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - NZ$ 4.99 Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath - NZ$2.49 Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars - NZ$4.99 The prices shown here are in New Zealand dollars, they will be different depending on what part of the world your in. Click here to see the full sale.
  12. There hasn't been much news to report in the past week or so. So I spent some time piecing together a new article called The State of the Command & Conquer Franchise & Where to From Here. I'm not much of a writer but I wanted to share my own thoughts on what is happening with the Command & Conquer franchise. I also address some of unconfirmed news that has crossed my path, like a rumoured 3 year window. And I discuss the ongoing and ridiculous topics of selling the Command & Conquer franchise. Here's a sample. Check out the full article right here.
  13. A few days ago this article, Is EA Allowing This Well-Known Gaming Franchise to Die? appeared on an unlikely source, Gospelherald.com. This article sort of retraces the demise of Command & Conquer that was cancelled back in October 2013, and then it questions if EA are ever going to make another Command & Conquer game or just let the franchise die and be forgotten like so many past EA franchises before it. Here's a small sample.... You can read the full article right here. Thanks @NightTrain45 for the news tip. Here at CNCNZ.com, we are looking towards Gamescom in August to see of EA have any plans or announcements about the future of Command & Conquer.
  14. Just like E3 back in June, once again long suffering Command & Conquer fans have lucked out, EA have had their Gamescom 2015 Press Conference and no surprise announcements about the future of the franchise were made. Traditionally, Command & Conquer has always had some form of a strong presence at Gamescom in recent years. So where does this leave the Command & Conquer franchise moving forward? Unfortunately we can't answer that, but it doesn't look good at all. With August 2015 being the 20th anniversary of the original Command & Conquer it was the perfect time for EA to bring Command & Conquer back. Sorry EA, you've missed the boat here and failed to capitalise. If you're interested in what EA did announce at Gamescom, you can watch the full press conference right here. Alternatively, GameSpot have good summary.
  15. It looks like Electronic Arts are making changes to your Origin account. If you have purchased games from Origin in the past you will have an Origin account. This will soon change as your Origin account becomes an "EA Account". In an email being sent to Origin account holders, EA said this is "to better represent all of EA's games and services". No other features or reasons were given. The change will happen automatically "in the coming weeks", EA said. Members will use the same login ID and password to access the account.
  16. E3 has been underway for the past couple of days now in Los Angeles, and all the big players like Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, and of course EA have all made their various announcements filled with glitz and glamour. Lots of interesting things have been revealed this year, but sadly nothing for us Command & Conquer fans. I paid close attention to what EA was doing, hoping to see a new Command & Conquer game being announced. It was probably wishful thinking anyway, because Command & Conquer has never made a big splash at E3 over the years. Focus now shifts to August and Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. And oh yeah, August 2015 just happens to be the 20th anniversary of Command & Conquer. Now doesn't that sound like the perfect time to announce the rebirth of the Command & Conquer franchise?
  17. The official forums for Command & Conquer have been a bit of a grave yard in the past few months, understandably since there is nothing happening with the Command & Conquer franchise right now from EA's direction. However reports have come through that the Official Command & Conquer Forums are currently offline. There is no statement from EA as to why, not that one can be expected anyway. But rumours suggest they have been closed temporarily to fix a security leak someone tried to exploit recently. An update will be made when and if they return.
  18. As originally posted here http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/forum-114/announcement-3-command-and-conquer-cancellation-victory-closure-faq/ on the Official C&C Forums.....

  20. In a short article on EA's Customer Service Help site, our first clue to the future of the Command & Conquer franchise may have been found. The help article explains what people can do to get any money they have spent, on the now cancelled Command & Conquer alpha, refunded. But it also says that people who purchased Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection, will still get early beta access once production resumes under a new studio. There is already some rumour and speculation that Command & Conquer has already been given to a new studio. Presumably another one within EA. But of course we can't confirm this right now.

    EA Backstabbed Us

We' were so excited about the new C&C and EA backstabbed all of us...... Really sad to see all hardwork go in drain, although a box 60$ would have been much better than free to play model but still wiping off everything , EA again proved why it is the most hated thing, they can only make stupid FIFAs
  22. As it was announced, EA would be present at this year's GamesCOM event, which will take place from August 21st to August 25th. EA staff has released information about the event over at EA's GamesCOM website, answering a few important and frequently asked question, notably about tickets and location. EA's booth, which will be located in Hall 6, will include a Command & Conquer section, where fans attending will likely be able to see a gameplay demo and/or play the game, alongside some other surprises, as is seemingly hinted at by the presence of a massive tank at the C&C kiosk's entrance. To see an interactive map of the EA booth, click here. Additionally, each EA game will have PCs designed to specifically run the respective game. Attendees will also be able to participate in a contest and win one of the customized C&C PCs that will be running the game over at EA's booth during the event. You can see a run-down of the Command & Conquer PC's system specifications below: Command & Conquer - PC Hardware Motherboard: MSI 970FX Processor: AMD FX8350 Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD7970 Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8 Go (2x 4 Go) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 Hard Drive: 120 Go SSD Corsair Neutron GTX Power Supply: Corsair GS800 Cooling System: Corsair Hydro Series h100i Case: Corsair 300R Black Peripherals: Mouse: Razer Taipan Mousepad: Razer Goliathus Keyboard: Razer Deathstalker Headset: Razer Pro Kraken The source for this information can be seen by clicking here, although the page is only available in German.
  23. As we reported yesterday, EA had another round of staff lay-offs recently that affected studios in Los Angeles and Montreal. The team at United Forum asked them via Twitter if this meant any changes for Victory Games, who are based in Los Angeles. It appears that they remain "mostly untouched".... Click here for the original conversation.
  24. Hot on the heels of Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 4, Electronic Arts have announced some staff lay-offs that have affected studios in Los Angeles and Montreal. EA would not specifically name any teams or studios, but multiple sources say that they've shut down Visceral Montreal. Since Command & Conquer is developed in Los Angeles, we don't know if this means anything to the Victory Games team based there. "Transition is our friend", says EA President Frank Gibeau, who posted this statement about these lay-offs. Below is a sample... You can read more about this story on Kotaku right here.
  25. Two of EA's "BioWare" studios, one of them being Victory Games and the other Mythic, have both dropped the BioWare label from their names. The change is described as the result of a new focus for both studios. Here's a report from Game Informer. Another report on this change can be found at Kotaku.
