  1. A new blog has been posted on the Official C&C Site that covers the basics to get both C&C Generals and its expansion, Zero Hour, running in modern operating systems like Windows 7, you can find it right here. It's reasonably detailed and should help most people. However, the same procedure has been posted on our forums for nearly 3 years. So for those of you reliving Generals and Zero Hour, or playing it for the first time ever, you now have two helpful guides to choose from. Click here for the guide on the Official C&C Site, or check the one posted in our forums.
  2. Kampy, a new member on our forums, has posted a mini campaign for Zero Hour that he has made, called Capture Europe. It features five consecutive missions in one map. You must take the role of the United States to recapture Europe which has been taken over by the GLA. Capture Europe includes lots of custom coding and has a play-time of at least three hours. 3. I don't see what the big deal is about Minecraft, but I do like seeing creative things in our community, like this, for example. In this thread on the CNC Maps Forums, snowy007 has been recreating the world of Command & Conquer Generals in Minecraft. Some screen shots showing the USA Command Center, Barracks, Fusion Reactor and Airfield have been posted. 4. The team working on the Contra mod for Zero Hour has posted six new units for the 008 release - GLA Armoured Train and Toxin Wagon, USA Seraphim and Lancer battle mechs and Medic and Repair Droids. Here are some samples: ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/GLATrain-render.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/USALancer-render.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/USASeraphim-render.jpg Click here for more.
  5. Here's a treat for our Zero Hour fans. On Monday, February 27th at 18:00 GMT, the best players of the Zero Hour World Series 2012, SiZe and Ruiz, will fight in a final match for $150. The match will be broadcasted live on Stanislav TV. Maybe you can learn something from their gameplay styles.
  6. The team working on the Generation X mod for Generals: Zero Hour has uploaded the 1.1 patch for the USA Beta released last December. The patch changes the Armoury, leaves only two vehicle drones (Field and Combat Support Drones), fixes USA mismatches, missing terrain textures and some more gameplay-related bugs. You can download the patch right here. Make sure you have the USA Beta v1.0 release before proceeding.
  7. C&C Untitled, a mod for C&C Generals: Zero Hour, has had a few new units unveiled across all three factions in their February 2012 update. Here are 2 samples: ' rel='lightbox'>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/Yayo01/update2-3.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/Yayo01/update3-1.jpg You can read the entire update and view all the new units right here.
  8. The team working on the Contra mod for Generals: Zero Hour has released some new renders showing the Saturn Walking Fortress, Nemesis Gunship, Harbinger Cargo Helicopter and Omega Mobile Particle Cannon for the USA, as well as the Chinese Armoured Train and Civilian Bunker. Here are some samples: ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/Saturn-render.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/Omega-render.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/ChinaTrain-render.jpg Click here for more.
  9. Version 0.3 of the Visual Reality Mod for Zero Hour has been released. For those who are not familiar, this mod only changes the visuals of the units, turning them to their closest real-life counterparts, without touching the balance and gameplay. If you have an earlier version installed, make sure you delete it before downloading this one. ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/FbvuX.jpg Click here to proceed with the download.
  10. We try not to report on rumours and speculation, but as they get stronger, they become too hard to ignore. This update follows on form the news post Addressing the Generals 2 Rumours. These rumours speculate that BioWare could be developing the next C&C, possibly Generals 2. Sounds a bit far fetched, doesn't it? Well, today's news may be a bit more believable. Based on some "Internet sleuthing" by fans, the new rumour is that Victory Games is actually part of the recently established BioWare label, and Victory Games is the new BioWare studio. Here's the report from VG247.... A very quick tease of this new BioWare RTS can been seen in a video posted at GameTrailers.com. Or just watch the entire 3 seconds of footage below. Don't blink or you may miss it. So are we looking at the next Command & Conquer here? Personally, I'm not convinced. But we will find out early next month at the Spike Video Game Awards, where BioWare will reveal this game.
  11. After a couple of months we finally have a new poll here on CNCNZ.com. Today's new poll is based on the hottest news item right now. Are the C&C/BioWare Rumours true? Do you think they are true, perhaps you're undecided or maybe you just think there is no way these rumours are for real. If your reading this update on the main page, just look to your right and vote in the poll box. If you're reading this via the forums, click here to cast your vote. And, as always, don't forget to share any feedback or comments about this poll as well. Here are the results of our previous poll, What did you think of the C&C Community Bracket Game? A fairly even spread here. But 30% of the voters thought it was average at best. The full results of this poll can be found right here.
  12. In the past week or so, some Generals 2 rumours have surfaced. They appeared to have come from the team at United-Forum, a large German C&C fan site. I've even been sent a couple of messages and some e-mails asking why this news hasn't appeared on CNCNZ.com. I'll explain why. But first, let's back track just a little. Based on a news item at GameInformer that teases the December announcement of BioWare's new franchise and shows the screenshot seen below, United-Forum strongly believe that this is possibly the next Command & Conquer game, and they think it could be Generals 2. ' rel='lightbox'>http://i.imgur.com/16Tyc.jpg So why hasn't this news appeared on CNCNZ.com? Simple, because it's not credible enough, it's a rumour and a very weak one at that. Yes, BioWare is another EA developer, but they are not developing the next C&C, and why would EA go to great lengths to create Victory Games, hire Jon Van Caneghem, establish a new team, only to have BioWare make the next C&C? Does that screenshot above really look a C&C or Generals game to you? Oh, and another thing, BioWare don't make RTS games. Victory Games is EA's development studio for C&C and RTS games. No disrespect to our friends at United-Forum, so I'll say what I posted on our Facebook page last week, I feel this a case of clutching at straws here. We all want news on the next C&C game, but making stuff up is not the way to get it. All we do about the next C&C is there is a Command & Conquer PC game in development. No other official details are available yet. Confirmed in this post on the Official C&C Facebook page.
  13. The team working on the popular Contra mod for Generals: Zero Hour has created several new vehicles and structures - the Antiradar Missile Launcher for the GLA Stealth General, as well as the Coyote Light Tank, Raven Combat Drone, Leech Droid, Laser Crusader and Communications Center for the USA generals. Here are some samples: ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/aml-render.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/Coyote-Render.jpg ' rel='lightbox'>http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/11/10422/Leech-Render.jpg Click here for more.
