  1. October is definitely "Red October". Did you know that four of the five Red Alert games that have been made were released during the month of October? The original Red Alert on 31/10/1996, Red Alert 2 on 26/10/2000, Yuri’s Revenge on 12/10/2001, Red Alert 3 on 28/10/2008 (US) and 30/10/2008 (EU). The exception is of course Red Alert 3: Uprising, that was released in March 2009. For this update we are here to recognise the 6th anniversary of Red Alert 3. There was a big 7 year gap between Red Alert 2 and Red Alert 3, when EA announced the game the community was excited, but many were sceptical about what the EALA team could deliver. EA poured a lot into the development of this game, revealing an all star live action cast, and don't forget the massive marketing campaigns. Bringing back Frank Klepacki to work on the soundtrack was something that felt truly special for all C&C fans. They even got me on a plane to fly over to Los Angeles, visit EALA and play test an alpha build during the Red Alert 3 Community Summit in June 2008. So here we are 6 years later. We can look back on Red Alert 3 as quality Command & Conquer game, high production values, staying true to what Westwood Pacific established in Red Alert 2. However it didn't reach the lofty heights EA expected it would. But how can you not like Red Alert 3 anyway, it gave us this awesome remix..... What are your memories and favourite moments of Red Alert 3? Please share them with us in this news thread.
  2. 11 new concept arts of units from RA3, have been found on artist Wil Panganiban's personal blog. These can all be seen by following this link. Alternatively, more concept art has emerged for RA3, showcasing cut units such as the Mastermind and the Prism Tank, units that were previously available in Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge, alongside new ones. You can see all these other concepts here, over at CNCSaga.

This new section includes a guide that explains How to claim your old nick name(s). 15. It was announced last month that hundreds of video games, including those made by Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Gearbox, Nintendo, Konami, Capcom and more, may be taken off-line as GameSpy's multiplayer servers shut down on the 31st of May. What this means is the multiplayer services for the games listed below will no longer function. Games Effected Command & Conquer Generals Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath Red Alert 3 From what we understand, Electronic Arts says it is working to transition old multiplayer games away from the soon-to-be-defunct GameSpy network backend, but some hurdles remain. And that's basically all we know at this stage, there have been no further announcements from EA. It may be a case of the community seeking alternatives such as Hamachi, Tunngle, GameRanger and Evolve in order to continue to play these games online.
  16. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/03/gamespy-multiplayer-shutting-down-hundreds-of-games-at-risk For C&C, this means the closure of servers for Generals, Zero Hour, Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3 (not sure who holds Tiberian Twilight) unless an urgent server move is made. Seeing how so many games are hosted on the same server platforms, that'll be quite a job.
  17. For the past couple of days we have been asking fans to share a photo or photos of their Command & Conquer collections on our Facebook page. All of the games, T-Shirts and other memorabilia you have amassed over the years. We know there are many long time fans of the franchise so now we want you to show us. Show us how dedicated you are. If you have a collection you would like to share post it on our Facebook page, or just as a reply in this news thread. I'm now wondering if we can get any of the CNCNZ.com team to share their collection?
  18. Two days after its predecessor became 13 years old, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 marks the fifth anniversary of its North American release today. Released by EA Los Angeles on 28 October 2008 in North America and 30 October 2008 in Europe, Red Alert 3 found the Soviet Union in disarray following the events of the Post-War Crisis, giving them no choice but to use the time machine to kill the person responsible for their enemy's advantage - Albert Einstein. Returning to their own time, the Soviet time travellers found themselves in a sandwich between the Allies and the newly formed Empire of the Rising Sun. Red Alert 3 had 7 missions for each side (21 in total), having the shortest single-player campaign in the series if we do not count the expansions. It featured many Hollywood stars who were not wholeheartedly accepted by the community, but the game's main advantage was its fast-paced and varied multiplayer gameplay. Hence, the game's server is still full of players and tournaments are being held, with the latest one being a celebration of today's anniversary. Although significantly more complex to modify than its predecessor, its modding community is not negligible nevertheless. Share your opinions and memories on Red Alert 3 in this thread.
  19. The CNC Minecraft team has released a new Red Alert 3 texture pack for the tremendously popular Minecraft. It's approximately 90% complete, but there are still some items that need to be finished, like armour. All of the blocks have been done, though. This texture pack will be updated when Minecraft 1.7 is released. Visit the CNC Minecraft site for the download.
  20. On October 28th, Red Alert 3 will have the 5-year anniversary of its North American release. GameReplays.org will be hosting three tournaments during the month of October to celebrate this: a 3v3 one on the 13th, a 2v2 one on the 20th and a 1v1 one on the 27th. They will all start at 14:00 GMT. All first places will receive a cash prize or a year's GameReplays subscription if the money cannot be transferred, but cash will only be involved if a certain team or player number has been reached. For more information, registration links and rules, click here.
  21. Ykudza from CNCSaga.ru has found four new concepts of the interface for Red Alert 3. The final RA3 interface is significantly different from the variant pictured in this images. Additionally, there is the presence of a "Capture the Flag" mode, which implies it may have been on the cutting room floor during Red Alert 3's development. Click here to see the other images.
  22. YkudzA from CnCSaga.ru has noticed two never before seen pieces of Red Alert 3 concept art on the website of Feng Zhu, one of the former EALA concept artists. These show the European and Soviet Destroyers, but what is more interesting is that they have timestamps from 2005! This find gives Mark Skaggs' announcement from 2004 some background.
