  1. The Twisted Insurrection team has released a newscast for the month of October. They've been working hard on polishing the game up for the 0.6 release which is now officially due on 19 November 2016, possibly sooner if they finish everything on their to-do list. GloboTech has new aircraft voxels by ErastusMercy, Lin Kuei Ominae has finished several Nod buildings (click above for the full image), certain terrains have been redone, skirmish/multiplayer maps have been updated and joined by some new ones, and two new tracks have been published - Prodigal Son by OmegaBolt, and Eidolon by Mentalmeisters' own Speeder! Check out the October newscast here for more.
  2. The popular standalone mod for Tiberian Sun, Twisted Insurrection, has received a trailer for the upcoming v0.6 version, showcasing all of the mod's features and gameplay points. The new release is scheduled for November, and a lot of the development in the past few months was focused on the Twisted Dawn campaigns, new theaters including an interior one, and a new client shared in design with Dawn of the Tiberium Age. The fans will have quite a lot to play with this winter.
  3. Once again we have another edition of C&C Music Monday. This week we slow things down just a bit with the hauntingly sounding "Ion Storm" from the Tiberian Sun soundtrack. Who enjoyed the Ion storms in Tiberian Sun? The lack of lighting, no base power, no radar. A new track will be posted next Monday. And as always, don't forget to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  4. Over the past two days, the Dawn of the Tiberium Age (DTA for friends) standalone mod for Tiberian Sun has received several updates, including numerous bugfixes, one of which was the bug where the game would continue if all AI enemies were eliminated, as well as asset additions and brand new features in the updated game client. The newest version at the time of posting is v1.1555, though to be on the safe side, keep an eye out on their ModDB downloads page for any other potential updates.
  5. Here's cool new video from World Beyond. Its called Command & Conquer Tiberian Series Tribute: The Brotherhood. An original heavy rock track featuring lots of footage from Tiberian Sun, Tiberium Wars and Tiberian Twilight. Watch it in the video above.
  6. This week's selection for Music Monday comes from the Tiberian Sun soundtrack. Its "Lone Trooper". Fitting in with many of Tiberian Sun's tracks its another very atmospheric one, especially the intro. Lots of techno beats are also featured. A new track will be posted next Monday. Don't forget to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  7. This week's edition of Throwback Thursday features a look back at three different Command & Conquer games and the appearance of the other Kucan, not Joe, it is in fact his younger brother Daniel Kucan. Joe Kucan's brother has played three different characters over the years. First, you see him as Jake McNeil from Tiberian Sun in 1999. Next up, he was Joshua “Mitch” Mitchell, the founder of Steel Talons, in Kane’s Wrath from 2008. And then lastly he briefly appears in the GDI ending of Tiberian Twilight from 2010, as a passer by who is asked by a reporter for his opinion on Kane’s ascension, to which he says: "Kane’s gone? Yeah, right!" and walks away. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We also encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  8. As always, its Music Monday time once again. This week we revisit Tiberian Sun's atmospheric soundtrack with the track "Mutants". This one has a very unique intro that makes way for a very techno sounding beat. "Mutants" was composed by Frank Klepacki and Jarrid Mendelson. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  9. This weeks selection for C&C Music Monday is "Link Up" from the Tiberian Sun: Firestorm soundtrack. Another classic track from Frank Klepacki. Featuring a deep hard thumping base tune mixed in with communication sound effects. Parts of it even sound like an old dial up modem. As always, a new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday. (Apologies for the minor typo in "Firestorm" that appears in the video above.)
  10. PC Gamer has posted their list of the 50 Best Free PC Games. Each game has game brief description and links so you can download them. Tiberian Sun made the list in the number 3 spot. You can check out the full list right here. Remember, many of past Command & Conquer game have been released as freeware over the years. And we have them all available for download in our Freeware Classic Command & Conquer Games section.
  11. The selection for C&C Music Monday this week is "Killing Machine" from the Tiberian Sun: Firestorm soundtrack. Another full on, hard hitting signature rock track from Frank Klepacki. The music that came with Firestorm was very different from Tiberian Sun's atmospheric tracks. And "Killing Machine" is a perfect example that Frank wanted the music for the expansion pack to be more rock based. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  12. How about some new music from the one and only Frank Klepacki. This is new track is a remix of "Space Echo". It will be included in future builds of the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun and in the future, the Twisted Insurrection OST Vol. 6. You can listen to the new track in the video above. And don't forget, Frank Klepacki has released his new album, "Digital Frontiers". It's available for purchase in digital download and CD formats.
  13. There hasn't been much news about the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun in recent times. Despite real life issues taking priority, the team have been hard work and have new stuff to show. And that starts now with this great looking cinematic of the GDI logo to be used for campaign purposes. Watch the video above.
  14. It's Music Monday time once again, where we share our favourite tracks from the archives of Command & Conquer soundtracks. This week's selection is "Pharotek" from the Tiberian Sun soundtrack. Composed by Jarrid Mendelson, this one is has a strange and sometimes haunting sound, but totally fits within the atmospheric theme that the Tiberian Sun soundtrack is based around. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  15. Just because its 2016, it doesn't mean you can give up playing any of the classic Command & Conquer games like the original Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun or even Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge. With the power of CnCNet the classic Command & Conquer games live on for a new generation. And thanks to SNiPE, a video guide has been created for those who want to get started and learn how to play their favourite Command & Conquer games on CnCNet. Watch the video above.
  16. In a new article the Wayward Strategist has taken a retrospective look at the Brotherhood of Nod from an artistic and visual point of view. Take a nostalgic look back through origins of Nod in Command & Conquer, how they evolved in Tiberian Sun, a return to a more classic look in Tiberium Wars and well their complete departure to wacky designs in Tiberian Twilight. There is even a part devoted to how Nod appears in Tiberium Alliances. Here's a small sample. Check out the rest of the article right here.
  17. Throwback Thursday for this week pays tribute to arguably the most iconic unit of them all, the mighty Mammoth Mk. II from Tiberian Sun in 1999. GDI's unmatched quadrupedal walker was designed to change of the course of any battle. It was a brutal combination of raw power, heavy armour and awesome fire-power thanks to it's Rail Guns. Its very clear that Westwood Studios were inspired by the the AT-AT's from the Star Wars franchise for the design of the Mammoth Mk. II. And of course we have always liked the Mammoth Mk. II here at CNCNZ.com, as it has featured in the layout of our site for many years now. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  18. A new version of the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun has been released and its available for download now. Version 0.4.5 includes some performance updates and numerous bug fixes to the client and the mod itself. The main purpose of this update however is to showcase the start of the new GloboTech Campaign that will be included in Version 0.5. The mission included is the teaser version of the first mission in their upcoming campaign. Completely new faction artwork has been made including a new sidebar, unit icons, briefing interface and loading screens. Visit the Twisted Insurrection site for more information and download.
  19. This a repost of the news item that was originally posted on Thursday 3rd December. For this week's Throwback Thursday we are going back and looking at some of the most iconic units from Command & Conquer games . Starting with the GDI Titan in Tiberian Sun from 1999. After the first Tiberium War, GDI decided to abandon the use of tanks in the traditional sense, instead opting for large bipedal walkers. Hence the debut of the Titan Mk. I. Standing at around 25 feet tall and armed with a powerful 120mm cannon, the Titan is force to reckoned with. The other advantage to large bipedal walking units, the can stomp on anything below their large feet. Many Nod soldiers have fallen victim to getting crushed by a group of Titans.
  20. With updates to the current public release of the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun coming to an end, development has now shifted on the next internal Version, 0.50. There is lot to accomplish in next major release, so here is quick summary of what has been planned. Additional campaign missions Twisted Dawn campaigns GloboTech's own mini-campaign Completion of more faction structure artwork Unit revision (add or replace units) Further and more thorough bug fixing Many more multiplayer maps Better or improved client options and features Some more cinematics for campaign missions New additions to the TI OST The video above shows off some the great video work being done. Watch the cool looking Nod Logo cinematic. You can read more about Twisted Insurrection v0.50 development right here.
  21. If you have been following the development of OpenRA, you will know that Tiberian Sun is coming to the open source reimplementation of Westwood's classic Command & Conquer games. Progress has been made but the OpenRA team haven't shown to much of it. Until now. As posted on Kotaku Australia yesterday, SoScared101 on YouTube discovered a work-in-progress version of Tiberian Sun in a developer's build of OpenRA, and of course it's now captured in the video above for all to see. We are not sure if the OpenRA developers want the public to see all this yet but its still pretty damn cool anyway.
  22. It's a new month and another instalment of Throwback Thursday. Our theme of looking at the famous actors who have been in Command & Conquer games continues this week with Michael Biehn, who played Commander Michael McNeil in Tiberian Sun from 1999. Michael Biehn is another veteran actor who has been in many iconic movies over they years. He was the original Kyle Reese in 1984's The Terminator, other memorable roles include Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), Navy Seals (1990) and The Rock (1996). Tiberian Sun was his first foray into video games. In 2013, he returned the video game scene to voice Cpl. Dwayne Hicks, in the disaster that was Aliens: Colonial Marines and then he was the voice of Sgt. Rex 'Power' Colt in the successful Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Michael Biehn will always be Commander Michael McNeil to Command & Conquer fans. Especially since he had the best and most corniest line in the game, right in the opening GDI intro, "Chandra you son of a bitch". Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  23. Every Command & Conquer fan's favourite messiah, Kane, has been named at number 3 in WatchMojo.com's Top 10 Immortal Video Game Characters. Check out the video above to see the full countdown.
  24. A hot fix patch for the Twisted Insurrection mod for Tiberian Sun has been released. This patch fixes a few small bugs in campaign missions, some more in the main client code and a few tweaks to some animations. There is also a change to the way mission selection works from the main menu. From now on, selecting a mission from the main menu will no longer result in the campaign launching from the start like in previous releases, now instead it will simply send you back to the main menu and give you the option to select the next mission manually instead. You can read more about this update by clicking here.
  25. Hi all, I have a small question, for Tiberian Sun Redux I want to remake the original functionality of the building in Tiberium Wars. If you don' t recall what the building was/did. The Waste Facility is basically the same as the Tiberium Refinery where a harvester collects and bring it to the refinery, but instead of a harvester and tiberium, the Waste Facility, use a Weed Eater, which will then collect veins from the vein hole monster to create a chemical missile, and this is what I want to re-create, but before I spend hours of useless time which I could spend on something else for the mod, I want to ask some other CnC 3 modders if this is possible. What I was thinking is, if it is possible to connect the Timer/Counter/cool down to the tiberium storage level, and when it reach 100 % capacity that it the missile is loaded. theoretically it should work. use the original Tiberium Refinery code Modify the code of the TR so it spawns a Weed Eater instead, that would search for veins instead of Tiberium When the capacity is reach, missile is ready to fire. but is this even do able in Tiberium Wars. Again I just want to make sure, because if I spend like a month on it and it isn't even able to do, I could better just spend that 1 month on the assets for the mod instead.
