  1. On Friday, W3D Hub posted a pretty intense update on what they've been doing behind the scenes lately. Apart from a new intro that goes with their logo inspired by Westwood's 1998-2003 orb logo and a run-down of what they've accomplished from their 2018 roadmap, they've announced that the W3D Hub launcher now supports the regular C&C Renegade with the option of installing the latest version of Scripts, an announcement for the W3D Kit that will accomodate many needs of Renegade modders, a new wiki for W3D engine development called the Tacitus, and last but definitely the most, the first public release of W3D tools for 3D Studio Max 2017 that is meant to support model formats from C&C Renegade, C&C Generals/Zero Hour and the Battle for Middle-earth titles. More details can be found in their official post.
  2. Happy (belated) New Year, everyone! Now that the holidays have ended and my personal health issues have passed, it's time to review what's recently been going around the Command & Conquer community. The biggest news, as you can see from the image above, is that last night, Frank Klepacki and The Tiberian Sons performed Command & Conquer tracks live at MAGFest. This music spectacle was streamed live on Twitch, and there is a recording available here at around 01:05:14, with a YouTube mirror (hopefully in higher quality) likely to end up on the official MAGFest channel. If you haven't already, watch that concert (don't just listen to it, that's all I'm willing to spoil!), you owe it to yourselves. W3D Hub have revealed their latest project - the Tiberian Dawn: Ground Zero standalone mod for Renegade, which will be properly based on Tiberian Dawn. The highly polished final version 009 of the Contra mod for Zero Hour is now out. GenTool has been updated to version 7.6 with three bugfixes. You can grab it from CNCNZ.com or the official GenTool website. The 2.0 alpha version of the Tiberium Essence mod for Tiberium Wars has been released. The massive 3.78 patch for the C&C Untitled mod for Zero Hour has been released. The Dawn of the Tiberium Age has been updated to version 1.176. The Mental Omega mod for Yuri's Revenge has a screenshot hinting at an ominous and oddly familiar device.
  3. Our friends over at W3D Hub have decided to celebrate the recent announcement of classic C&C remasters with a series of events this week. Finish among the top 3 players with the best screenshots in Interim Apex on the 7th, Red Alert: A Path Beyond on the 8th, or Expansive Civilian Warfare (ECW) on the 9th of December to win not only a copy of C&C: The Ultimate Collection on Origin, but also one of the six awesome poster designs of your choosing (first come, first served) by @CCHyper. More information can be found in this post on their forums.
  4. Earlier today, Red Alert: A Path Beyond received the 3.2.4.0 patch. While you might mistake it for a balance patch when looking at the changelog, it is a major thing - a new unit, the Allied Chrono Tank from Red Alert: The Aftermath from 1997, is now a purchasable unit, complete with the chronoshift ability! This is a version you do not want to miss, so update the game or download it fully from the W3D Hub launcher!
  5. The standalone Renegade mod called Expansive Civilian Warfare (ECW for short) just got its first release since it came under W3D Hub's roof in 2015. It is the successor of the map Roleplay2, and includes a huge open world in which players can do whatever they choose, from taking jobs, driving hundreds of vehicles, buying estates, interacting with wildlife, and more. The full description can be found in the original announcement, while Testament released a handy tutorial that is recommended reading. You can download ECW through the W3D Hub Launcher the same way as you can Red Alert: A Path Beyond and Tiberian Sun Reborn.
  6. The results are in for the Players' Choice part of this year's Mod of the Year and Indie of the Year awards in the Upcoming category. In the Mod of the Year, the C&C community was represented by the Tiberian Sun Rising mod for Tiberium Wars at 5th place, while in the Indie of the Year, we had Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising getting an honourable mention. Both award events have one more important date scheduled. On the 29th, we will know the results of the Players' Choice in the Released category.
  7. W3D Hub has posted an update on version 2.0 of Tiberian Sun: Reborn. This update includes information of fan maps being included for release, a view of alternate vehicle cameras, a new Nod building, and an image that is open to speculation. Read the full post here.
  8. The team behind the standalone Renegade mod, Expansive Civilian Warfare, have just released an announcement on W3D Hub. Created by Blazea58, Jerad2142, Canadacdn & Napalmic, ECW is a sandbox game with lots to discover! With over 100 different weapons and items to collect, over 47 different player-controllable vehicles including helicopters and mechanical walkers, and at least 15 jobs to earn money and level up, ECW has something for everyone! The mod is currently in testing and is not available to the general public but is accepting testers to speed its release. Read the full announcement on W3D Hub here.
  9. Version 3.1.3.0 of W3D Hub's Red Alert: A Path Beyond has been released. This update sees several infantry changes including the return of the "old-style" Grenadier, health increases for mid-tier infantry, and a nerf for the Allied Medic. Version 3.1.3.0 also includes various map fixes and added aesthetics for the Master Control Terminals and base infrastructure. Full changelog available on the W3D Hub website here. You can update your game via the W3D Hub Launcher.
  10. Another patch, version 3.1.2.0, for W3D Hub's Red Alert: A Path Beyond has been released. Apart from the usual array of balance changes and bug fixes, the help screen has been revamped, buildings' interiors receive new props, the "Militant Force" track now plays at the ending score screen like in the original Red Alert, the Missile Silo's basement received a window to the missile tube which closes during the launch phase, and some new purchase quotes have been added to some APB-specific infantry units (Sergeant/Starshina and Captain/Kapitan).
  11. W3D Hub posted some updates on their upcoming projects recently. Firstly, they showcased new models of the Navy SEAL's C4, Soviet doors and the Patriot Missile Site for Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising. Then, we got a look at assets made for release 2.0 of Tiberian Sun: Reborn, namely the GDI and Nod Limpet Drones, the Mutant Hijacker's wrench, and the new riot shield for GDI Riot Soldiers.
  12. We've fallen a bit behind on the news in the C&C community, so it's time to catch up. C&C Communications Center has relaunched on Sunday with a completely new look and a vast archive of data and images from Westwood's RTS titles currently spanning from the venerable Dune II to Tiberian Sun and Firestorm. Much of the material you can see there hasn't been seen publicly in many years, and some of it... ever! Over the past week, the Twisted Insurrection team introduced new tracks for the upcoming version of the mod: Radioactivity (including some lyrics from Kraftwerk's song of the same name), W.I.R.E.S., Tungsten Souls, and The Surveyors. The first three tracks were composed by Swirekster, while The Surveyors is by OmegaBolt. OpenRA was updated to stable version 20170527, which fixes a few graphical issues and adds the "Fast" game speed. The Generals 2 mod for Red Alert 3 is showing further progress with the new APA tank models and textures. Red Alert: A Path Beyond was patched to version 3.1.1.0, introducing lots of balance changes, map tweaks, touched-up graphics for the Mammoth Tank, new Strela-2 model for the Grenadier and more.
  13. W3D Hub has released version 3.1.0.0 of Red Alert: A Path Beyond. This is the first major version since the first Delta release, with quite a lot of changes. The most important ones are the availability of Soviet Airfields and Yaks, Thieves being able to steal 33% of ore from ore silos on any map, Radar Domes having a special terminal for airlifting basic vehicles when the War Factory goes down, Redeye/Strela weapons no longer having homing characteristics, Grenadiers no longer having an "artillery form", and lots of balance changes, tweaks and aesthetic improvements. Check out the full changelog here and if you haven't done so already, get the W3D Hub Launcher from here.
  14. Some great promotion for the team at W3D Hub. They have been featured in a large article on Kotaku UK. Despite a few inaccuracies that are mentioned in the article, it's great to the Command & Conquer name on a major gaming publication. The article talks about the history of C&C Renegade and W3D Hub's current projects. Here's a sample. You can read the full article on Kotaku UK for more. Also check out the post on the W3D Hub forums.
  15. Earlier today the W3D Hub team released version 0.7.2 of the W3D Hub Launcher. Featuring many under the hood improvements to the server listings to make them more reliable. The W3D Hub Launcher is your way to play the likes of Red Alert: A Path Beyond and Tiberian Sun: Reborn. Visit the W3D Hub site now to get the updated launcher.
  16. W3D Hub have posted the list of changes, fixes and upgrades that are coming in the next major release of Red Alert: A Path Beyond. The list is rather detailed. No date has been mentioned that tell us when this release will be made available. But it can't be too far away. The original post can be found here.
  17. W3D Hub has released updates on Red Alert: A Path Beyond and Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising. The APB update concerns the changelog for patch 3.0.8.2, which fixes the netcode, adds zoom cameras for Tesla Tanks and Phase Tanks, enables Tesla Tanks to reveal Phase Tanks within 75 m, and slightly rebalances the game, among other tweaks. Updating to this version is necessary if you are to participate in tonight's APB Game Night at 7 PM GMT. The AR one shows off two Allied and one Soviet infantry unit, and shows how far the graphics department got.
  18. The W3D Hub team have announced two more Red Alert: A Path Beyond Game Nights taking place over the next couple weeks. The first one has been scheduled for this Friday the 24th of March. The second one is set for Saturday, the 1st of April. Yes that will be happening on Aprils Fools Day. At the time of posting this news no start times have been mentioned yet. More details can be found here.
  19. Just playing catch up with this news. Early last week the W3D Hub team released another updated version of Red Alert: A Path Beyond. Some of the general changes can be seen below. But there are many other bug fixes and changes concerning the infantry, vehicles, buildings, maps and more. AI-controlled Allied/Soviet bots and defenses now earn points for their team when they damage or kill things, so they will no longer put close games in jeopardy when they steal your kills. AI-controlled combat units now use moonsense715's refined AI, which will attempt to strafe in combat, and not get too close to its target (except melee ants). Hitbeeps have been disabled entirely since CJ is no longer around to fix the issues with them (most notably, the "60 hitbeeps per second if you cause a damage-over-time effect" one). Hitmarkers are still there though. Follow this link for the full list of changes in this version. You can update the game via the W3D Hub Launcher.
  20. Just a few days ago, W3D Hub made version 3.0.7.4 of Red Alert: A Path Beyond available for download. This all important update fixes the recent "rubber-banding" troubles that have been so troubling. There are other fixes and changes also included, as detailed below. GENERAL NetUpdateRate is now set correctly, this should annihilate your rubberbanding problems! Being scoped in when the map ends no longer causes you to stay scoped on the next map. Added engine.cfg override for monitor refresh rate. Added armour bar to HUD target box for any unit that has armour. This should reduce the confusion about inconsistencies in weapon damage. INFANTRY Infantry armour is now more effective against "weak" explosive splash damage, reducing health damage by 62.5% instead of 50%, and the armour itself is completely immune to this damage. Effectiveness of "strong" explosives (artillery, V2, C4 and hand grenades) is unchanged. VEHICLES Light Tank, Medium Tank, Heavy Tank, Mammoth Tank can no longer carry passengers. BUILDINGS Purchase terminal zones now have physical collision, so it is no longer possible to get so close to them that you are unable to use them. Fixed shape of Construction Yard roof VIS sector, should prevent some oddities when camera is over the "arch". Construction Yard second floor has grates beneath the PCTs, so even if the PT zones fail, you should not fall through them when buying stuff. Added blocker behind MCV in non-tunnel version of Construction Yard basement, so it is no longer possible to get stuck behind it. Sub Pen now has mesh fences on the ends of the piers, making it harder for Allied infantry to disembark directly into the pen (but still possible) and harder to fall into the water while trying to defend against navy as an RPG/Volkov. Naval Yard now uses the same mesh fencing as the Sub Pen. Collision plane on Allied Barracks basement stairway now properly connects to the lower floor; this means that infantry descending the stairs will no longer "fall" and get accuracy penalties as a result. AESTHETICS Added Kaskins' Imperial Age bullet tracers with his permission, to replace the outdated and broken emitter-based tracers. Weather particles no longer fall through water; this also allows us to add weather back to naval maps that previously had it at some point. MAPS RA_HostileWaters: Added light snowfall. Fixed water brightness. Water now fades at shorelines. RA_Siege: Fixed water brightness. EVA now reminds you about the cannon side objective every so often. Cannons now repair at half the previous rate and take 25% more damage from Hinds. Cannons now use the same radar marker as base defenses. Added collision planes to the landing pads, so ground vehicles should not get stuck on them and infantry walking onto them should not "fall". Fixed a bad texture blend on the hills behind Soviet base. RA_Under: Added snowfall. Parts of the Soviet Radar Dome are no longer untargetable. You can update to the latest version using the W3D Hub Launcher.

There's been a lot of news in the Command & Conquer community to cover, so here's a quick overview of what's going on: CnCNet has reached a new milestone, with over 720 players connected at the same time Techraptor has posted an article giving a nice retrospective view on the Red Alert games The Tiberian Dawn Redux mod for Zero Hour has received patch 1.43, with eight new missions and some edited ones, as well as balancing and bugfixes Twisted Insurrection received two hotfix patches following its latest major release, 0.61 and 0.62 W3D Hub published a new update on Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising, showing off the Ore Purifier, the Tank Destroyer and Tanya's Sig Sauer pistol. 22. After the recent release of patch 3.0.7.2, W3D Hub is hosting a game night in Red Alert: A Path Beyond on Saturday, November 19th at 21:00 GMT. They will activate a special event rank module which will only record the stats from the game night. Everyone is welcome to join, and this is your chance to play on a populated server!
  23. Another minor patch has been released for Red Alert: A Path Beyond by W3D Hub. The radio command spam has been fixed, Tesla weapons are slightly nerfed against infantry, scanning for Phase Tanks and gapped units can no longer be made through mousing through another targetable object, RA_CanyonRiver has been revived, and some other balance changes and minor fixes were added. You can update to the latest version via the W3D Hub Launcher.
  24. A minor patch has been released for Red Alert: A Path Beyond by W3D Hub. The changes focus on polishing up the balance, particularly regarding naval units, graphical and camera tweaks, sounds and map pathing. A new camera is available for the Mobile AA Gun as well. You can update to the latest version via the W3D Hub Launcher.
  25. Three days ago, W3D Hub released the October 2016 Update on Red Alert 2: Apocalypse Rising. Quite a few additions have been introduced in since the last update in June: bots in multiplayer mode including basic infantry and even functional Engineers; fully skinned Attack Dogs, and Spies with the ability to disguise as a friendly or enemy infatnry unit (shown above). They have also listed some job openings, so be sure to check that out as well. You can read the full update here.
