  1. For Throwback Thursday this week we go back the original Command & Conquer from 1995, and a look at the coolest ever installation for a PC game. They just don't make them like this any more. It was even fun to set up the sound card. Who remembers always having to type in the PORT, IRQ and DMA settings for sound cards? As the installation progresses, all sorts of text and images fill the screen. Unique overlapping voices get faster and faster until the screen goes blank, pause for dramatic effect.... "installation complete". The game is ready to be played. . Perhaps there are some younger C&C fans out there who have never seen it before. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We also encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  2. For Throwback Thursday this week we look back the debut of the Ion Cannon in the original Command & Conquer from 1995. Introduced during the First Tiberium War, the Ion Cannon circled the Earth on a geosynchronous orbit. It became the signature weapon of the Global Defense Initiative. Like it's more recent versions, the first generation Ion Cannon was capable of obliterating any location on the world with a precise, calculated strike of unforgiving destructive power. The Ion Cannon was pivotal in the destruction of Kane's Temple of Nod in Cairo. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 3. This is the first time we have done a C&C Music Monday by request. A long time poster on our forums, zocom7, asked us to feature "Just Do It Up". So the classic and original version by Frank Klepacki from the Command & Conquer soundtrack has been selected. Every time I hear "Just Do It Up" it just reminds me of the good old days of classic Command & Conquer gaming all over again, especially when I used to play it into the long hours of the night. If you want a different version of "Just Do It Up", check out the . Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  4. Following on from the Confidential Top Secret Tiberian Sun Dossier we posted near the end of April. We have some more recovered materiel. Watch the video above from the , Where Kane says "Discovered by the Brotherhood, and I named it after Tiberius Drusus Caesar", have you ever wondered what Kane really meant? The answer has been found in the form of these recovered parchments. Kane's Tiberium Parchment | Part One Kane's Tiberium Parchment | Part Two Once again, where these documents come from is not important right now. Read it, share it and give us your feedback about it.
  5. Today’s pick for C&C Music Monday is what I was originally going to feature this time last week before a quick last minute change. Its "In Trouble" from the original Command & Conquer soundtrack. An amazing catchy beat in this one. The video above is the soundtrack version, complete with the cool voice inserts such as "Ah its not good, it doesn't look good", "Perhaps you need another shot?" and the very strange "Let me clear my throat!". The in game version does not have them. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  6. It took me all day to decide on this week's pick for C&C Music Monday, I settled on "Warfare" from the original Command & Conquer soundtrack. Sometimes this one is listed by it's alternate name, "Full Stop". Back in 1995/1996 when I first discovered Command & Conquer this was the track I always played each time I started a mission in the game. Being able to change the music any time you liked was one of the coolest features in the game. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  7. For C&C Music Monday this week I wanted to go with something different, something with a slower pace, so today we have "We Will Stop Them" from the Command & Conquer soundtrack. Sometimes this one has been known as "Deception" or Kane's Theme. Whatever you want to call it, it's one evil sounding track, yet it has a funky and catchy beat. And in true Frank Klepacki style of this era, some more voice samples add another layer. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.

    tibed for C&C95 No Info

I am having an issue with tibed. Although I do not believe that tibed is at fault here. This issue only takes place with C&C95 where I open the editor screen and all values are vastly incorrect (see screenshot). Most of the info on the building tab is all zeros. This makes it virtually impossible to use for C&C95 and I would very much like to use it. Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?
  9. It's time one again for Music Monday, we started this new feature last week, sharing our favourite tracks from the archives of Command & Conquer soundtracks. This week, another personal favourite of mine, "Prepare for Battle" from the Command & Conquer soundtrack. An epic sounding track that starts out as an instrumental piece, by the 1.23 mark, its all heavy guitar riff kicks in! This is how soundtracks for RTS games should be made. One of the coolest things about "Prepare for Battle" is the fact that Frank Klepacki gave us a new version of it called from the Universe at War: Earth Assault soundtrack. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  10. This week's Throwback Thursday goes back to the original Command & Conquer from 1995 with a look back at another iconic unit, the Brotherhood of Nod Flame Tank, also known as the "Devil's Tongue". Armed with twin fixed flame cannons joined to two large pressurized napalm tanks mounted on the back. The driver's canopy is located between the giant flame-throwers. Designed to intimidate and strike fear in their enemies, Nod used the Flame Tanks for eliminating infantry. Many have fallen to the hot flame of Devil's Tongue. The Flame Tank was one the of the mainstays in Nod's arsenal and it's definitely an iconic C&C unit. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 11. We are going back to multiple years for this week's Throwback Thursday. Many of the Command & Conquer games began life with a different logo to what see on the box covers for them today. During the alpha/beta stages of development of the original Command & Conquer in 1994, the game featured a slightly different logo. We don't know what made Westwood change it though. Fast forward to 1999/2000, Red Alert 2 was announced featuring an odd looking logo, it was soon changed one that matched the first Red Alert logo. In 2001, Yuri's Revenge was announced with a simplistic looking design, this was also changed later to fit with the Red Alert 2 style. In 2006 when Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Was was revealed, EA used a very different looking C&C logo, with a modernised twist and a big green stylised number 3 behind it. The logo was redesigned some months later and looked much better. In 2008, Red Alert 3 was announced sporting a very eye catching logo, complete with backwards lettering to go with the game's Russian artwork theme. The logo was changed to a more simple looking one though. But I think it would have been cool to keep the first one. Of all these unused logos for C&C games, which one looks the best to you? Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 12. In a new article the Wayward Strategist has taken a retrospective look at the Brotherhood of Nod from an artistic and visual point of view. Take a nostalgic look back through origins of Nod in Command & Conquer, how they evolved in Tiberian Sun, a return to a more classic look in Tiberium Wars and well their complete departure to wacky designs in Tiberian Twilight. There is even a part devoted to how Nod appears in Tiberium Alliances. Here's a small sample. Check out the rest of the article right here.
  13. Just because its 2016, it doesn't mean you can give up playing any of the classic Command & Conquer games like the original Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun or even Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge. With the power of CnCNet the classic Command & Conquer games live on for a new generation. And thanks to SNiPE, a video guide has been created for those who want to get started and learn how to play their favourite Command & Conquer games on CnCNet. Watch the video above.
  14. Throwback Thursday continues this week. And we are going back to where it all began. Its a look back at the chemical breakdown of Tiberium in Command & Conquer from 1995. This is how Tiberium was first presented to us. Long before EA got all scientific and basically changed it's properties and it's appearance for their games. Most of the chemicals that make up Tiberium are all understood, but its the unknown parts of it that always remained a mystery. That's what makes Tiberium a substance of alien origins, growing on our planet, in the Command & Conquer Tiberium universe of course. Tiberium became the centre of the entire storyline. So dangerous, so hazardous, yet so valuable to both the GDI and perhaps more so to the Brotherhood of Nod and Kane. Remember, you can click on the preview above to see a larger and more detailed image. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  15. I was asked for a clean version of the Command & Conquer 20th Anniversary logo that has been used on our recent news updates. Here it is.... Its transparent background is great to create your own Command & Conquer 20th Anniversary wallpapers and artwork. Credit goes to Neogrant from http://cncnet.org for making this
  16. 20 years ago today, Westwood Studios released the first Command & Conquer and redefined Real Time Strategy games forever. 31st August 1995, do you remember where you were on that date? Were you even born? Well yes I was born, but I sure as hell don't remember anything important that far back. But that's how long it has been. 20 years is a fantastic achievement for a gaming franchise, and I feel it is something we, as the fans, can be proud of. I'm sure the original development who were at Westwood all those years ago are just as proud. While the future of the franchise remains unknown, we can at least celebrate the Command & Conquer 20th Anniversary and enjoy the legacy of the franchise. Why not mark the occasion by playing some classic C&C online via CnCNet. We invite you to share favourite and fondest memories of the original Command & Conquer in this 20th Anniversary news topic. 20 years of Command & Conquer. Here's to another 20 years!
  17. There hasn't been much news to report in the past week or so. So I spent some time piecing together a new article called The State of the Command & Conquer Franchise & Where to From Here. I'm not much of a writer but I wanted to share my own thoughts on what is happening with the Command & Conquer franchise. I also address some of unconfirmed news that has crossed my path, like a rumoured 3 year window. And I discuss the ongoing and ridiculous topics of selling the Command & Conquer franchise. Here's a sample. Check out the full article right here.
  18. For Throwback Thursday this week we are going all the way back to the original Command & Conquer in 1995. Its the always memorable scene where Kane decides its time for Seth to be eliminated. Up to this point in the Brotherhood of Nod campaign your orders were being given to you by Seth. You are told by Seth that "power shifts quickly in the Brotherhood", and he seeks to have you taken out by sending you on a near impossible mission. This doesn't exactly sit well with Kane, so with one bullet straight to the head, Kane kills Seth, reveals himself to you and grants you a well earned promotion. A true badass moment. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  19. Every Command & Conquer fan's favourite messiah, Kane, has been named at number 3 in WatchMojo.com's Top 10 Immortal Video Game Characters. Check out the video above to see the full countdown.
  20. A few days ago this article, Is EA Allowing This Well-Known Gaming Franchise to Die? appeared on an unlikely source, Gospelherald.com. This article sort of retraces the demise of Command & Conquer that was cancelled back in October 2013, and then it questions if EA are ever going to make another Command & Conquer game or just let the franchise die and be forgotten like so many past EA franchises before it. Here's a small sample.... You can read the full article right here. Thanks @NightTrain45 for the news tip. Here at CNCNZ.com, we are looking towards Gamescom in August to see of EA have any plans or announcements about the future of Command & Conquer.
  21. We are really rolling back the clock for Throwback Thursday this week, back to the beginning of it all. In the original Command & Conquer there was always this mysterious and strange looking object that could been seen on the maps during the single player campaigns. For years fans debated, speculated and theorised about what this object was. It basically became known as the "crashed UFO". Years later many people believed it was an actual UFO or a Scrin ship. Turns out it wasn't either of these, Westwood didn't think up the Scrin idea until a few years later anyway. The mystery was solved as far back 2007 by a former Westwood artist, he confirmed that it was simply a canopy of a wrecked helicopter. It was also said to be "a crappy piece of art and doesn't even fit in with the art style". More info about this can be found here (English Translation). So in the end it wasn't much of mystery, no conspiracy about it or fore-shadowing the storyline of later Command & Conquer games in the Tiberium universe. It just some out of place art. But we still consider it part of the Command & Conquer nostalgia. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  22. Its Throwback Thursday time once again. And today we are really winding back the clock, 20 years to be exact, to the original Command & Conquer in August 1995. It features something that has disappeared from the more recent Command & Conquer games, and probably from many other games too. The score screen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge were the last C&C games to have a score screen. And up to those games, Frank Klepacki even wrote music just for the the score screens. Back in the old days, after you completed that hard fought mission in the either GDI or Nod campaigns you were shown this screen that summarised how good you were. Yeah you beat the mission but the score screen always said you could have done better. And like all classic games of that era, you could type in your initials next your score for that extra ego boost! Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  23. This is some amazing Command & Conquer fan art, created by Raphael Ruas De Figueiredo. Inspired by this classic screenshot from the original Command & Conquer. If you know of any other cool looking Command & Conquer fan art, please share it with us.
  24. 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the original and classic Command & Conquer, released by Westwood Studios in 1995. With that in mind, Tom Bennet has informed me about a special article that he has written. It looks back the past 20 years of Command & Conquer and Red Alert. Tiberian Origins: 20 Years of Command & Conquer, is a well written article, loaded with lots of Command & Conquer charm and featuring fresh insight from former Westwood developers Frank Klepacki, Eric Gooch, and Joe Bostic. Tom actually got in contact with Frank, Eric and Joe to get their thoughts on the early days of the franchise. There is even a cool interactive Command & Conquer time line towards the end. Here's a small sample.... Follow this link to read the article. Make sure you scroll the page to start reading.
  25. While the future of the official C&C forums is still uncertain, new events have taken place. Those of you who have bookmarks that used to lead to the forums may have noticed that the link currently redirects to the Tiberium Alliances forums. The Tiberium Alliances community manager, EA_Fixnow, has created a special subforum there, called simply "Command & Conquer Franchise", with 4 boards: one for general chat and one for each series. You can read his statement below: You can check the subforum out by clicking here.
