  1. It has been well over a year since the last major version of GenTool, was released. That changed today with the arrival of version 7.4. 2. Welcome to this year's first instalment of Throwback Thursday! This week, we remember the GLA Angry Mob, which appeared in C&C: Generals and Zero Hour from 2003. It was notable for being the first squad unit in the Command & Conquer series. This mechanic saw wide use in EALA's subsequent Battle for Middle-earth series, as well as C&C 3: Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath, where the majority of infantry units were also represented by squads. Angry Mobs were just that - groups of furious, but poorly trained common folk who joined the ranks of the GLA. Even one mob was a bad omen for GLA's enemies on the field, as they proved quite effective against enemy units. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. 3. In this week's Throwback Thursday, we look back at the American superweapon from C&C Generals - the Particle Cannon. At first, it looks like a discount Ion Cannon from the Tiberium universe, but unlike its GDI counterpart, it has the ability of moving the beam to any location of the owner's choosing as if it were a unit, potentially causing a lot of damage in a larger area. In Zero Hour, the American Superweapon General Alexis Alexander had the Advanced Particle Cannon, which was 50% cheaper, but took longer to recharge. As with other superweapons in Generals, multiple Particle Cannon Uplink buildings could be built at the same time. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. 4. Released today is the latest C&C Tiberian Dawn Redux Mod promo video showing off how the Mod looks in 2016. A few sneak peeks at the new campaign missions can be seen if you know where to look. Eight additional campaign missions are slated to release soon with patch v1.43 with the campaign videos included. This video itself is a remake of the original Mod trailer that hit the Net way back in 2007. DOWNLOAD CURRENT RELEASE FACEBOOK PAGE
  5. In this week's edition of Throwback Thursday, we remember another iconic unit from the C&C games - the Overlord Tank and its variations from C&C Generals and Zero Hour. What is a C&C game without one version or another of the Mammoth? Apart from its two destructive barrels, the Overlord Tank could be outfitted with one of three extensions on its top: a battle bunker, a gattling cannon or a propaganda tower, as well as uranium shells and the Nuclear Tanks upgrade. General Ta Hun Kwai's Emperor Overlord variant, however, came with a pre-built propaganda tower, but could also be upgraded with a gattling cannon, though for some reason the Subliminal Messaging upgrade did not affect its propaganda tower in official versions of Zero Hour. Still, the Overlord is very much worthy of the Mammoth Tank line. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. 6. Hello this is my first post here. I wonder why Challenger missions in Zero hour are so easy even on hard difficulty? I mean let's take a look on Air force challenge. He is so easy even on hard difficulty, he never uses A10 strikes, never use Battle ship and never buy any upgrades for his planes. Also after first wave of the attacks he then suddenly stops attacking you like he doesn't have money... Also he doesn't use battle plans for strategy center unless you make it in scripts. I have downloaded a program called ''FinalBig'' i have opened Zero hour maps and i can edit official maps in World editor. There i can edit Air force Challenge map. So my question is why he is so easy? Most of his scripts are disabled in the game and not properly put. if you open scripts and look you can see that for example his ''Laser Guided missile'' upgrade is not running at all because it requires from him to have less than 800 money which is impossible. I edited a few things and i made him to use all available upgrades in the game. He uses bunker busters, Countermeasures which he didn't. But how to edit him to use A10 strikes? There is script for it but it just says for him to be able to fire it, i don't know how to make waypoint for it because he can't use that ability. He is really really weak in challenge. I did buff him a little but i can't seem to make him use general power. I was able to put him to use particle cannon which works good but can't do for powers. Also look at Nuke general. He never uses his Migs to fight you, he always send small troops, literally does nothing, while Doctor Thrax is made to be like pro gamer same goes for prince Kassad. They are the only ones made to be good at hard difficulty others sucks. Is this because EA didn't had time to make others better? I really want to edit those scripts but i don't know every one of them. I'm not that skilled. So is there any guide on internet that might help me on that or any patch that will make Al better? Maybe that unofficial patch? Sorry for this long post.
  7. I am currently running Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and am considering upgrading to Windows 10 within the next month. I have read conflicting information on various sites about whether Command and Conquer Generals will run on Windows 10. I have the original (UK) C&C Generals disks, manual and serial number. The game is patched to version 1.08 which I believe is the latest (and last) patch for Generals. I don't have Zero Hour. I am able to play the game fine on Windows 7 thanks to information I've read about changing the 'options.ini' file and manually starting/stopping driver secdrv.sys used by Macrovision's SafeDisc copy protection scheme. I should point out that I've only played solo play games up until now. Once I've upgraded to Windows 10, will Generals still work? If not, what do I need to do to continue playing this awesome game? Following on from this, assuming Generals can be made to work on Windows 10, will the Generals WorldBuilder also work? Many thanks in advance for your help. Mark
  8. This weeks edition of Throwback Thursday looks back at how C&C Generals got censored in Germany back in 2003. Censorship is strict in Germany. And the time of the release of the game, German officials decide too many of the game's core elements resembled real world events. Obviously the most notable change was the fact that all the Generals and human character were turned into Cyborgs. But here a list of all the major changes to a game that many people in the rest of world never got to see or play.... The intro was completely removed due to having a few not-so-subtle references to real-life politics/politicians. The three playable sides had their names changed to no longer reference real-life countries. The campaign was renamed to "mission". The world map on the loading screen was removed and any references to real places or countries are altered. Interestingly, the spoken briefings were not altered. As expected, the human soldiers are altered to be cyborgs. This includes changing the portraits of all units and having robotic voices. The terrorist was removed from the game and instead replaced with a driving bomb. Other than the visuals, however, the functionality is exactly the same. Human civilians are removed from missions. The second GLA mission was removed completely. It involves hijacking a UN convoy and stealing their supplies, as well as killing any civilians (or destroying their houses) who try to take the UN supplies for their own benefit. Completing the last mission for any of the campaigns does not play a video. The expansion pack's intro is present, but the portraits of the generals which appear at various points in the intro were covered up by lazily edited in copies of the portraits from Generals Challenge. The portraits of the generals were censored as usual, other than that though they kept their human names, with one exception: Dr. Thrax was renamed to Dr. Trax to remove the pun on anthrax. Strangely, the Skirmish Mode portraits were replaced with the win/lose portraits from Generals Challenge. The credits of Zero Hour showed a US Ranger in the background, this was removed, leaving German players with nothing but blackness. 9. I just did a clean install of Windows 7. I installed all my drivers and programs, and am now trying to play C&C Generals Zero Hour. Every time I try to launch it, I get the following error. generals.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedury entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic link library dbghelp.dll. Every time I click the OK button, it closes the one I clicked on and opens another one. I literally have to open task manager and force close generals.exe I have never seen this error before, and even though I tried searching for information on it, I am unable to find anything specific to this program. 10. Something that hasn't featured enough in our Throwback Thursday feature is content from C&C Generals. Well that changes today as we look back at the C&C Generals Combat Card game. A simple and free little game released by EA back in 2003. The idea of the game was to capture the opponent's units. This was accomplished by first choosing your faction, you would then pick one of the Firepower, Speed, Cost or Build time attributes on the card you were dealt. If you selected the Speed attribute and the opponent's Speed attribute was lower you would win that round. Capture all 12 to beat the opponent. Want to play this games yourself? Download it here. It requires no installation. Just download the file and run it. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. 11. So apparently the people of Aleppo need to watch out for GLA Bomb Trucks. Source article: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-05-12-uk-russian-embassy-tweets-screenshot-from-command-and-conquer-generals
  12. Yeah, i saw that some people are posting their "Let's Plays", so i came to a point, where i asked myself: "Why not to make my own video?".... so i tried to play Tiberian Sun on Windows 10, but FRAPS keeps crashing game all the time - IDK why, just because... anyway, i turned on C&C: Generals on Brutal difficulty and that's how it goes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0I4TfMu_lU&index=1&list=PLb0z-AlVEKaZe7OAaikEBQkUcIQbECKkS Without voice commentary - only annotations. I find it boring to talk for 5 minutes about stuff, which prolly goes all wrong. I could add some commentary after recording, but with subtitles it's less exhausting. P.S. 1st clip is in 360p, because YouTube hates me - rest is fine.
  13. We turn to C&C Generals for this week's Music Monday selection. It's the "Generals Main Theme". An epic sounding heavy rock track, perfect for waging war. This track also doubles as one of the battle themes for the USA as well. The composer of the soundtrack for C&C Generals, Bill Brown, also released the , a heavier version of this theme. A new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  14. The Generals Gentlemen posted another video in their "What Makes RTS Games Fun" series just a few days ago. This one discusses micro and unit differentiation, featuring Tiberium Wars, Red Alert 3, C&C Generals and other RTS games. Watch the video above.
  15. The focus for Throwback Thursday this week looks back at the GLA's Super weapon from Command & Conquer Generals in 2002. The Scud Storm fires 9 missiles onto the targeted area, which randomly strike anything in a wide radius. These missiles not only explode with devastating force, but also leave behind deadly clouds of toxin that will damage any vehicles and kill any infantry that try to enter the target area after the attack. A truly devastating weapon for a devious GLA commander. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. 16. Hello guys! I've made a small but fun mod for C&C Generals Zero Hour. It modifies the behaviour of the neutron missile in following ways. -Overall radius is bigger and the damage dealt is higher. -Creates EMP blast which turns off buildings and units for a certain amount of time. -Creates neutron blast which kills pilots of vehicles in a radius smaller than the EMP pulse. -Creates MOAB like shockwave that pushes units and building debris around Shockwave mod style. -Shockwave/Contra styled delayed explosion. -The countdown is raised from 6 minutes to 10. You really should use this mod alongside a shrubbery fix mod so you will be able to observe how the nuke ignites trees. Will probably break things if you try using it with other mods, but it's inside it's own .big file so you don't have to worry about breaking anything if you install/remove it. The installation instructions are inside the .zip. Images Video Download http://www.moddb.com/mods/two-stage-nuclear-device
  17. This week’s instalment of Throwback Thursday goes back to Command & Conquer Generals in 2003 to look at another iconic Command & Conquer unit. Every Command & Conquer game has had a big tank for one of the factions. In the Tiberium universe we got the GDI Mammoth Tank, in the Red Alert universe (from Red Alert 2 onwards) we got the Soviet Apocalypse Tank. In Command & Conquer Generals, the tradition continued with the Chinese Overlord Tank. And of all the big tanks, the Overlord was probably the most versatile in terms how it be upgraded. Add the Battle Bunker to give the ability to garrison infantry inside it. Add some extra fire power with Gatling Cannon upgrade, or keep your forces healed at all times with the addition of a Propaganda Tower. The strategy with this upgrade system was to decide what upgrade you needed, as only one of them could be applied to any Overlord Tank at a time. 18. Here we go with the first Throwback Thursday for 2016. And for this one we roll back the clock to the early days of C&C Generals. These were the first ever screenshots shared around the community when the game was first revealed to the public in early 2002, it could have possibly been earlier than that. Either way, everyone was blown away by how amazing the game looked. This was the first time we were seeing a C&C game in a real 3D engine. These screenshots included units that would eventually be cut from the game. But what catches your eye the most, the super awesome water effects that also got changed. Some would say it got down graded. You can view larger version of these early C&C General screenshots right here. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. 21. We are changing things up for Throwback Thursday this week. We are going back to Command & Conquer Generals from 2003 and looking back at the unique secondary late game incomes that can be generated by the likes of the USA Supply Drop Zone, Chinese Hackers and the GLA Black Market. Clever players could use these secondary late game incomes to turn the tide of the battle. Even when primary resources have been depleted. For the players who play as China, it is not uncommon to see hundreds of little Hackers, spread over the map, syphoning money from the internet. No other Command & Conquer game has featured anything similar to these specialised units and structures Definitely one of the more innovative ideas Command & Conquer Generals introduced. Remember, you can click on the preview above to see a larger and more detailed image. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 22. C&C Generals and Zero Hour fail to start. The .exe appears in Task Manager for a second and then it disappears. I've tried manually adding the .ini to the Command and Conquer Generals data folder. CPU: AMD FX-6300 6 cores, 3.50 GHz GPU: AMD Radeon R9 280x RAM: 16 GB OS: Windows 7 64-bit Professional Motherboard: MSI 970 GAMING (MS-7693) DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Game Version:Generals 1.08, Zero Hour 1.04 Edit: I am using the Generals Deluxe Edition, not The First Decade or The Ultimate Collection
  23. Hi generals, it's my first post. 1) I've managed to zoom out in Zero Hour (editing the .ini in the data folder (gamedata.ini). 2) I've managed to set the optimum resolution for my screen (1366x768) for both generals and zerohour 3) But I can't zoom out in Generals (it doesn;t have an ini folder in data folder like zh) What am I doing wrong? I have the ultimate collection running in windows 8.1 Has anybody managed zooming out in generals?
  24. Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is Hecthor Doomhammer. After having streamed and played Rise of the Reds for a little over a year, I decided to delve into the core and go back to the beginning and thus I played, for the first time ever, the campaigns of Command & Conquer: Generals and its expansion: Zero Hour. I also want to familiarize myself a little more in the world of Gen / ZH mods and since I am primarily a livestreamer, I came up with the idea of streaming some gameplay of me playing a few different mods for C&C Generals and Zero Hour and give my, unbiased, first impression on them As shown in the video below I have thus far confirmed 4 mods: CNC Holland Generals: Crazy Mod C&C Untitled Generals: Contra The video itself explains pretty much everything except the date I am starting, but that all depends on a few yet unknown factors, so for that I do ask you all to keep your eyes on my Facebook Page where I will make all announcements, every single day on what exactly will be happening on my channel on Twitch And before any one starts naming suggestions, I do suggest you watch THE ENTIRE VIDEO ALL THE WAY TO THE END Enjoy and hopefully see you then!
  25. Well, Generals, it's time for me to learn the basics and why you guys love this game and the mods so much. After having streamed Rise of the Reds for over a year, I owe this to not only myself, but also to all of you out there. So for that I ask you to join me as I will be playing through the original campaigns of Command & Conquer: Generals for the very first time, on my channel on Twitch I will be starting off with the Training Missions and see how much of the campaigns I can complete in 2 hours for today. And I will be starting tonight at 18:00 GMT I present to you all the countdown And I hope to see all of you then!
