  1. For our final Music Monday, we bring you Rain In The Night Part 2 from Tiberian Sun: Firestorm. Unlike the calming "first part", this track gives the sense of something lurking or awaiting to happen. We are phasing Music Mondays out in favour of our C&C Radio feature on our website, and are looking into more and better ways of bringing you entertaining content and gratuitous nostalgia.
  2. New versions of Open Source HVA Builder (v2.14) and Open Source Voxel Viewer (v1.83) have been released over at Project Perfect Mod. They feature an updated version of the Voxel Engine, fixes for 360° rotation, the ability to cap the HVA Builder's rendering speed to 60 FPS (which is on by default), the ability to change between games and palettes, fix for the View Transform option, and restoration of HVA Builder options from v2.11 and v2.12 that were missing in v2.13. Click here for more information and download links.
  3. For this week's Music Monday feature, we picked another very well-known tune - "Slave to the System" from Tiberian Sun: Firestorm. Apart from being in the standard Firestorm playlist, this track was played in both the GDI and Nod final missions (Core of the Problem) when CABAL's Core Defender was unleashed on the battlefield, so it was an apt final boss theme. A new track will be posted next Monday. And as always, don't forget to share this on social media using the hashtags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday. Also be sure to follow our new C&C Radio feature on the main site for more C&C music!

  5. In this week's Throwback Thursday, we remember the reinforcement of Nod's arsenal in C&C Tiberian Sun: Firestorm from 2000 - the Cyborg Reaper. These advanced cyborg walkers were armed with a multi-missile launcher, as well as nets thrown at infantry to completely neutralize them for a short period of time. They were Nod's only anti-air vehicle(?) apart from elite Attack Cycles, and were a mainstay of CABAL's army during his conflict with both GDI and Nod after the Second Tiberium War. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 6. Nyerguds, one of the community's most famed members and coders, has created the Westwood Font Editor, a tool which allows the editing of the official font files of various formats found in earlier Westwood games (Eye of the Beholder series, The Legend of Kyrandia series, Lands of Lore series, Dune II and 2000, Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Sole Survivor and Tiberian Sun, to name a few). This will allow easier development of fan-made localizations and modifications. You can download the latest version by following this link, the source code (written in C#, built on .NET Framework v3.5) is available as well. See this development thread for more information and full list of supported formats.
  7. In this week's Throwback Thursday, we look back at the Mobile War Factory, also known as the Fist of Nod among Kane's faithful, from Tiberian Sun Firestorm. An adapted idea of the Mobile Construction Vehicle, this unit could deploy to and from a fully functional War Factory which could be placed anywhere with enough flat land, enabling the owner to create full armies behind the enemy's back if used properly. Only one could be built at a time. While this idea wasn't officially revisited as such in further C&C titles (if you don't count the Tiberian Twilight Crawlers), modders often used the functionally identical Soviet-themed Iron Fist unit by Dark Elf, Sleipnir and DeeZire in their projects. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 8. Frank Klepacki has contributed his second track for the Twisted Insurrection standalone mod for Tiberian Sun. This time, it's the Killing Fields Remix, with the composed by VEF4. The track will appear in the seventh iteration of the Twisted Insurrection soundtrack, which already sports a long track list. It's awesome to see the game music legend support fan projects.
  9. For Throwback Thursday this week, we remember the tunnel logic introduced in Tiberian Sun from 1999. Units could traverse a tunnel between two ends as if it were a normal path, only protected from above. The logic was quite well-integrated, as the units could do everything they could outside of the tunnel, including attacking enemies in range. They would also make use of tunnels when being ordered to move to a place they could only access by going through it, instead of being given special orders for it, which shows how well they were "fused" into the game's code. They also appeared fully coded and with art in Red Alert 2, but were not used in any map for some reason. Still, they can be added in the FinalAlert map editor. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. 10. In this week's edition of Throwback Thursday, we look back at a very rare feature in video games, but a much favoured one among C&C fans. In C&C games up to and including Yuri's Revenge, as well as in Dune 2000, Westwood would put track lists in the sound control menus. Basically, we got C&C's own little media players, where you could listen to Frank Klepacki's then-to-be classics in any order and any time you wanted! This is also how many of us memorized all those track names before having YouTube and personal composers' websites to check them. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We also encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  11. This weeks selection for C&C Music Monday is "Link Up" from the Tiberian Sun: Firestorm soundtrack. Another classic track from Frank Klepacki. Featuring a deep hard thumping base tune mixed in with communication sound effects. Parts of it even sound like an old dial up modem. As always, a new track will be posted next Monday. Share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday. (Apologies for the minor typo in "Firestorm" that appears in the video above.)
  12. FunkyFr3sh, one of the CnCNet developers and CnC-Comm regulars, has just uploaded his new patcher for Tiberian Sun. Judging by the feature list, it's definitely a must-have, especially for higher-end PC users. Feature list: Fixed the following error: "A mouse is required for playing Tiberian Sun." Fixed the following error: "One or more DLL files were missing or damaged. Please reinstall." Fixed the menu problems on Windows 8 / 8.1 Random freezing can be fixed by setting "Single Processor Affinity" via the config No-CD Patch Graphics Patch HyperPatch Game Launcher Config Program Online support via CnCNet with hundreds of players FinalSun Map Editor To run this patcher, all you need is a copy of Tiberian Sun and/or Firestorm, patched to 2.03 (non-English versions available here). 13. Hello guys. I posted my first map for Tiberian Sun Firestorm on the PPM boards, thought I'd share it here as well. > from post on PPM forums: I threw myself into TS mapping a few days ago, and I have got to admit that I have been absorbed. Anyway, this is the first map I've made. Although making a map for a twelve and half year old game seemed like a weird idea, I'm glad I did, because I have learned a lot through the process. Map name: Trouble Beyond Players: 2 Time of day: Night Ion storms: Yes Downlaod link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6034290/Leveldesign/troublebeyondv01.mpr >> Link to full ingame view of the map >> Link to full editor view of the map I would have liked to add mutants, alien lifeforms and triggers to make the map become more alive. However, after loads of testing, I thought it was fine as it is. Comments and critique is warmly welcome. I hope you enjoy The map is also uploaded on my personal site. EDIT: Map update 1: Fixed cliff error and identical cliffs being next to each other. Screenshots are updated. A few screenshots: EDIT: Removed a screenshot. There seemed to be a problem between the link and the post editor.

    TS Missing FMV's

First of all, I couldn't find a trace of a similar topic via CNCNZ's search engine so don't harass me about that. Alright, I've downloaded a "new" freeware Tiberian Sun game since I lost my last one somewhere in a PC clean-up. Seems as though it's not the TFD version, yet it doesn't contain any of the FMV cutscenes that are supposed to appear before and after missions during both campaigns. Including the general faction intro videos. From what I've seen in a short run-through, only the victory and defeat short cutscenes are included. Don't ask me for a link to the download because I oblitherated any traces of it "by accident" a few days ago. I need help (instructions & download links if possible) on how to add those missing cutscenes back in the game. This is not Firestorm we're talking about, but I would appreciate any help regarding FS aswell 'cause I'll most likely be aquiring the expansion pack to go along with the original again. It's been a while since my last digging and whatnot through older games, but I think I'm in need of FULL versions of the files listed below for TS (and perhaps some other ones + also for FS if possible), but I'll let the 'classic C&C hackers' that prey on innocent gamers around CNCNZ run me over it, ofcourse... MOVIES01.mix MOVIES02.mix (both are already present in the game folder, by the way) Also, the 'intro/sneak peek' button does nothing, so it's safe to assume that FMV is not there.
