Splinter Cell Conviction Looking Awesome!

Recommended Posts

This is the only game at E3 that has captured my 100% attention, Splinter Cell Conviction.

Ubisoft hadn't shown Splinter Cell Conviction to the public in two years but brought it back impressively this E3. The game's creative director said it could be tricky for us to play during an E3 demo. That didn't scare us.

What has wowed people at E3 who have seen the new Conviction in action is how cinematic and how stylish it looks at every second. One striking visual signature is the giant mission goal text directions that appear to be digitally painted on the walls of buildings as you stalk through the game's open-world levels. Imagine a mansion painted with full-story-high letters telling you to infiltrate it. Or imagine having your mission directives displayed as a black-and-white film projected dynamically on a bathroom wall on and around Sam and the guy he's beating up.

But is stylishness what Sam Fisher and his world needed?

What Is It?

Splinter Cell Conviction is the fifth console Splinter Cell game, slated for an exclusive launch on the Xbox 360 later this year. When it was shown in 2007 it seemed to feature an unkempt Sam Fisher elbowing his way through a park in Washington D.C. A preview trailer for the revamped game leaked before E3, suggesting that the game had been changed and would be re-introducing some of the slickness of Sam in his super-spy prime.

YET another one you mean. :P

I'm glad this one has been picked up again. I mean it was announced a long while ago but then there was no info for ages.

You can say that about every major gaming franchise. Even C&C. Just look at the list of new stuff announced or demonstrated at E3, so many squeals, third and fourth game in the franchises.

Yeah, I can think of quite a few that are just horrible... But that is just me, I'm sure someone somewhere likes em', else they wouldn't make em'.

Wait, watching the trailer does this mean Sarah is alive? Was her death faked to get Sam to go undercover? What about all the stuff we first saw, will that still be in the game? Will 24 still be an influence?

In the last Splinter cell game, I think if you beat the game at the hardest level she survives or somethign...

From memory, the Playstation 2 and XBOX games did away with the Sarah storyline. For the Playstation 3 and XBOX 360, Lambert tells Sam after the first mission, which causes him to do things that would have him either expand his life or simply try and end it. Heck, the precious item for the training missions is a photo of Sarah.

Are they gonna pull a Jill Valentine here? Tell me they are not going to do a Jill Valentine here.

@ Leang - To be fair, they didn't actually say she died, only that she was missing presumed dead, they also did it in game so they can get away with that. Its not as though she died tragically in another game and THEN they bring her back later...

But if they did that in this series, it would be lame, but its not like it hasn't been done before. :o

Game is looking pretty sweet. ^_^

Though the whole point and die thing seems noob friendly, but its alright I guess. :)

Allow me to quote from the the Gordon Freeman thread.....

pfff... and *you* call yourself a gamer!

:)

All of the Splinter Cell games are great. With 2 exceptions. Pandora Tomorrow (#2), way to short and Double Agent (#4) has some really annoying elements to it. The best game was Chaos Theory (#3), pretty much close to perfection. But this new game is by far the most violent and much darker in terms of content and story.

And of course I was quoting Lukey from the Civ4 thread, what we have here folks is "flood of irony".
