New Renegade X Trailer & July Update

The Renegade X team returns with their July Summer 2009 update and a brand new game play trailer that you can watch below.

 

But that's not all. The July update also features a the Renegade X July Podcast covering topics such as the State of the Renegade-X.com site, The team's direction for the mod, Renegade X's art and gameplay style, New Features, The First Release and more. God, the screen shots are to drool for. The one with the mammoth tank in front of the Hand of Nod, wow. Downloading the HD trailer now, as well as the podcast, will watch 'em tomorrow when I get off work for sure!

 

Heh, I don't get why they don't use an ico image for their forums. Their R icon on their forums would be perfect, like this

Yeah the target outlines do look odd, I'm sure they have reasons for adding them.

Whats the weird indoor terrain? I didn't recall seeing that in C&C.

That's under the water inside the tunnels on the C&C Islands map from Renegade.

Obviously with the power of the UT3 engine the RenX team can make it look better.

I agree I don't like those target outlines has well but still I like the mod and I think its coming along great.

Oh i see, didn't recall that, must be years since i last played it.

 

Yes the Unreal Tournament 3 engine is excellent for this game/mod.

 

I hope they can make unit/structure outlines optional in the option bar, these outline bars reminded me of RA3. In fact I don't mind at all.

Regarding that red outline thing you saw in the video. Here's a quote from (NE)Fobby(GEN).....

 

As for the red outline, that's the new bounding box. You saw it in Renegade, but now in Renegade X instead of a square around an enemy, we wanted to modernize the HUD and create a sleek silhouette. It's not completely finished at the moment but it will be in time.

guys those people should be paid for what they do!

 

i understand that they will gain lots of fame from this amazing project they are doing but still its a lot of work they all ready have other jobs to do, and they can pool it off pretty damn well! and they are doing it for FREE and FUN! maybe if they merge with the x-tiberium team they can do damn amazing project now that they are so familiar with the UT3 engine.

 

i don't know about you but i am gonna see if they accept some sort of donation, i will donate them some money just to thank them for their amazing job. :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Well.... no work today so got to see the trailer earlier. Let's just say I would kill to be able to play this mod asap ;)

I did not realize just how simplistic Renegade maps were... From that distance, the game looks like a dung beetle's breakfast.

 

I also hope they implement something to prevent the various base-to-base exploits that hindered some of the maps (like this one), but without altering the original designs too much.

It will not be stand alone, and most likely never will.

 

The fact that they are using an EALA IP (C&C) on an Epic Games engine (UT3) prevents them from doing it. (Unless they can afford to buy the UT3 engine lol)

they said you need to have the ut3 installed.

 

i remember once a great mod for w3 the Project Evolution that will recreat the entire starcraft 1 in 3d, but finally was "left to the public"

my point is that the guys in order to allow you play the mode you should have w3 installed w3 fx installed and a starcraft cd-key and the SC broodwar cd-rom inside your disck drive(for videos) just to avoid legal mess with Blizzard, which just announced sc2 :P lol.

 

one think i love with westwood and eala is this they promote mods and they dont care if you use the command and conquer its its, Blizzard was really bad on those legal issues, and very mod unfriendly, untill they saw that w3 had great mod success and now they are trying to promote mod in sc2 with the new map editor.

 

what ever, EALA rocks on how it handles the modes and the names and the legal stuff. and thats why you will see the best and maybe the most mods based on their engines, and games.

Yeah we're doing that. For example on Islands we've added a natural stone archway that prevents MRLS from shooting the Hand of Nod while sitting next to the Barracks. Sniping from wall-to-wall and wall-to-field still works though.

 

 

Also oh my god.. that was me yelling about the Stealth Tank at the end. I had no idea they used that and laughed so very hard when I watched the video.

Didn't notice that UT3 was required for this mod to work, fortunately had a copy lying around.

Yea, the outline when targeting kills it.

But everything else is looking good. I really wanted it to be standalone mod, don't feel like buying and installing UT3. But oh well, anything to get to play this game.

Yeah you will need a legal copy of UT3 installed for Renegade X. The good news UT3 is cheap these days.

 

I purchased my copy of UT3 a few months ago. Can't say I like the game but I don't care.... once Renegade X gets released it will be worth it :)

UT3 is an excellent game at relieving stress! For those out there whose busy and stress with life, you should get this one.

Just watched the trailer there.

 

This game is looking pretty awesome... Although, can't say I like the stupid bunny jumping bull****... That is about the only thing I dislike from those old games. :P
