How To Play Generals / Zero Hour In Windows 7 X64

Recommended Posts

Ah, thanks for the tip for the uninstaller/installer. That worked.

Uninstalling that update didn't help the "DVD-ROM" error or the "Manual" error :( Anything else I'm missing? Thanks so much for responding.

Try disabling your antivirus and/or firewall, something must be preventing the 1.03 patcher from executing properly.

Hi, i m having an issue running zero hour. While ago i had the same issue but i fixed it trying different things and it worked once i disabled whatever i had on the startup. Suddenly it happened again but now it didnt fix it so its something else.

Whenever i m running zero hour you see the first screen with the blue map you know and after it closes automatically so it doesnt run game. If you have any idea what to try.

I m running windows 7 64-bit. Thank you in advance.

  1. Go to the Control Panel. Choose Windows Update, then Installed Updates.

In the list of updates, search for the one that has the number KB3086255.

Right-click on it and remove it.

Reboot.

Go back to the Control Panel, then Windows Update. Manually check for updates.

When the list of pending updates appears, choose Important Updates.

Right-click on the KB3086255 update and click "Hide This Update".

Exit the Control Panel.

If you don't hide it, it will install on your next shutdown.

That's an unrelated update, which too can be removed in the same way - the GWX Control Panel is completely unnecessary.

it wasnt the update. And also i have my windows patched so it doesnt have anything related with GWX and windows 10 (i hate them). The reason that it wasnt working it was that i have the files installed on a different drive. When i installed on the c the game it worked from both drives. I am assuming that it needs something from the registry? I dont want to keep the files on the c but if there is no other way i m gonna live with this.

Well, install it on the other drive properly, then.

After nine hours of trying to figure this out I simply had to put the .ini file in this folder. You will also see the Zero Hour Data folder too. Copy the same .ini file in there too.

C:\Users\**Your Name Of Computer**\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data

Let me know if this helps people.

This worked for me in Generals (which is the favorite of mine anyway) but not in Zero Hour. Either way, thank you so much, man. Thank you!

Are you running Zero Hour as administrator and in compatibility mode for WinXP SP3?

Hello, pepole!

I was got C&C Generals Deluxe Editon many years ago. I want to install again to my computer before 4 hours. I was playing this game before updating my computer from Win XP SP3 to Windows 7. I reinstalled the C&C Generals (not Zero Hour). I clicking on the icon on my desktop but it doesn't open the game. I searched many different solving tactics but nothing worked. I detect "I NOT HAVE AN FOLDER NAMED COMMAND AND CONQUER DATA FİLE" in my Documents.

Can anybody sent the file to me or how can I solve this problem? I waiting for a reply.

Greetings.

I own both Gen/Zh, fully operational on Windows 7. Lucky enough to never run into issues for all the years of playing . It's go retail or go home, I guess.

If your using Win 10  64 bit I actually got it to work by using no compatibility settings and by making sure the Scale And Layout in Display Settings is at 100 percent, I also noticed that if you run the Ez config it only shows 4 graphics resolutions and so I set the options.ini resolutions to one of those. Also make sure Direct Play is installed. Reminds me of having to use an old games for windows offline account for Resident Evil 5 lol what a pain in the neck.
