Sonic 293 Posted December 22, 2009 A brand new Command & Conquer 4 Developer Diary video has been posted. This video takes a look at the new way you will collect Tiberium in Command & Conquer 4. Its been the lifeblood of the Command & Conquer series since day one and now it gets a makeover. Tiberium harvesting will never be the same. Share this post Link to post
Malovolpe 3 Posted December 22, 2009 That looks like a rather interesting mechanic. Share this post Link to post
ORCaLoVeR 0 Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) While i am still a die hard fan on tiberium harvesting........ This is actually an intresting feat. Not the same as tib harvesting, but still acceptable Still, it would have been cooler if they where gonna be picked up by harvesters alone. This keeps the harvester in game. And like every factions get their own harvester type. The assault faction has a mech harvy with the slowest speed but the best armor and defensive arnament Support class gets an airborne class wich is the fastest but the most vurnable towards air attacks and AA units And the Defense class gets an traditonal style harvy with wheels and such. Just my 5 cents Edited December 22, 2009 by ORCaLoVeR Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted December 22, 2009 Tiberium crystals that fly in, LMAO... I can't WAIT to hear the reason behind this one. Share this post Link to post
Silverthorn 0 Posted December 22, 2009 At least I find the whole thing interesting rather than always stick to the traditional ways. At least it's ok. I wish the traditional ways return together as well, imagine there's a leaked pipe and in the end Tiberium spews out, then you get to harvest again via Harvesters. Fast & actioning? Yeah right, I bet it'll never enter the World Cyber Games for sure! --------- On the off side, I have my feelings that I might be blaming Chris Tamburrino for the art direction since he's the Art Director. Especially look at ALL of the crappy Nod unit models, they're still terrible and he approves them! Jeezz! And another, I still doubt that the GDI EVA voiceovers are going to be kept the way it is as the remixed EotRS rather than changing it completely to make it sound more like the real TS EVA, I rather take out a pistol and shoot myself in the head. Malevolence 6 Posted December 22, 2009 I still don't understand why is it that tiberium crystals fly down from the heavens? And why will it float above my head when I "capture" it? It just reminds me of Sims 3. I thought it's funny. XD Share this post Link to post
Leonick 0 Posted December 22, 2009 Oh damn :/ the second i saw the video i were hoping for the ingame explanation for the mechanic but no such luck :/ oh well the mechanic works pretty well, although it looks a bit stupid and i am worried that their explanation will suck Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 289 Posted December 22, 2009 I really want to know who is dropping them in. They land in contested zones to be grabbed by either faction... It would be foolish for either side to fly them in like that rather than just deposit them right into your deploy zone. Even more insane to be the handiwork of the Scrin. So who is the neutral entity that bestows crystals to the first taker, the tiberium god? Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted December 22, 2009 An okay idea, but yet badly executed in my opinion. Having a special unit to be gathering these things instead would be more appropriate. Visually it should be more realistic, like in a sealed box, container or something like that. It seems ridiculous that any unit (in this case infantry) can just pick up and run around with the very resource of the war. Looks to be a good multiplayer RTS arena game, but it doesn't seem to aid the amount of seriousness players are going to have towards the campaign. Anyway. Yet an other example of what age this title seems to aim at. Share this post Link to post
ORCaLoVeR 0 Posted December 22, 2009 A nice feature indeed but not well excecuted These things. Lets say they spew out a large amount of Tiberium in a container(As with that Tiberium Control network thingy). You have your harvester to collect these things. Each faction gets their own type of harvester for more awesomeness. You have to protect your harvy at all cost, hence making these tiberium spitters important This whole..........Fly the tiberium in thing is......... Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted December 22, 2009 Tiberium crystals that fly in, LMAO... I can't WAIT to hear the reason behind this one. Did you watch the video? It is explained. I really want to know who is dropping them in. Perhaps there be something in the story that covers or reveals that. Because now that you have mentioned it makes me wonder as well. Share this post Link to post
recover 2 Posted December 22, 2009 It would be less "WTF?" if it appeared from the ground. From one of those tubes in the TCN or something. Ah, well. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted December 22, 2009 Sonic - Luk3us is eluding to the same thing than Nmenth was.... I like this method for upgrades, I don't like this method as a replacement for tiberium harvesting, I hate the flying tiberium. Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted December 23, 2009 Glad I'm not the one to explain how it's more efficient, to first harvest the tiberium, then put it in a dropship and then drop it right back into a tiberium wasteland in the middle of a battle, than having the original way of harvesting. Sorry but it just doesn't make much sense to me. I doubt it'd even be more fun at all. Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted December 23, 2009 WTF is this shiiiiiiiit? I will harvest my own Tiberium kthnx. Don't need no magical god shards... Share this post Link to post
G0NE2W4R 0 Posted December 23, 2009 Flying Tiberium crystals? From where and from who? The old harvesting method is not fictional...its actually more realistic than this new mechanic, although interesting. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted December 23, 2009 Best comment I've read since this video was made public. From the upload on YouTube . Here we go again with the whiney bitches who pointlessly give negative comments! Have you guys even TRIED the game!? I don't want to constantly pay for a graphical update and a couple new units. If you don't like the game then just don't buy it!! Couldn't have said it better myself. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 289 Posted December 23, 2009 Have you guys even TRIED the game!? Yes, and the mechanic is as stupid as it looks. I don't want to constantly pay for a graphical update and a couple new units. If that is the only difference you can see between the games, you are not too bright, not very observant, a biased non-C&C fan, or a variation of those three. If you don't like the game then just don't buy it!! This is the final chapter of Kane, what do you mean don't buy it? If we are real C&C fans, we are obligated to buy it. (I know this person is on YouTube, not here, so this response is to all those that agree with them) Share this post Link to post

"If you don't like the game then just don't buy it!!" only works in case if you are a causal gamer, not a hardcore, longtime fan of the C&C franchise. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted December 23, 2009 Yes, and the mechanic is as stupid as it looks. For a moment there, when my buddy tried it, he was asking me if this is EA's attempt to "rick-roll" the C&C community. I couldn't help but laugh. As for me, I try to be nice, so I am awaiting for more updates and if possible, the storyline's explanation on this stuff, if it ever makes sense. This is the final chapter of Kane, what do you mean don't buy it? If we are real C&C fans, we are obligated to buy it. Second that, I am getting this whether its nice or not, for the sake of continuity and the conclusion to the story arc. I'm just praying the product will turn out fine. Share this post Link to post

Some people actually cares for the franchise and don't want to pay for crap. Being a loyal fan through a decade give you your right to say your honest opinions. If you don't like this "whining" you don't have to comment it. Share this post Link to post
Silverthorn 0 Posted December 24, 2009 (edited) Agreeable, me too, being a loyal fan, but I already decided to step down and "die" as a true Westwoodian C&C fan. Under new supervisions or not, the franchise I'm sure will continue to go downhill. Newer & younger fans will not know much of its history, but the veterans will do. And one day, those newer fans will see our real problems and they'll join with us, to hate the franchise. But then again, things could have been worse in this Kotaku article. http://kotaku.com/5431752/command--conquer...esting-tiberium Really? We the community will like it? You said we like it, EA guys, but WE'RE NOT!! NOT IN C&C4! Are you continuing to please yourself? I'm sure it still is. Don't try to hide your true colors, because once it has been revealed, it'll never be hidden again! Edited December 24, 2009 by Silverthorn Share this post Link to post
Malovolpe 3 Posted December 24, 2009 I am still getting this game. Gameplay looks interesting and refreshingly new and the storyline is gonna be awesome, err hopefully awesome i should say. Share this post Link to post
