Kataris 0 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd like to know if it's possible, through even external programs, if you could run RA2/YR in windowed mode using 32-bit color mode. I've tried D3DWindower and DXWND to no avail. Also, there's a problem where whenever movies play in RA2, they're distorted and low pitched. Is there any way to fix this? I have update 1.6 and my sound acceleration is at Basic. I'm also running under Windows XP. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted January 14, 2010 RA2 runs like **** under 32-bit color mode as it was designed in 256-bit color depth. You'll have to use 16-bit to get rid of the distortion. And with that, I also suggest using the built in -win switch instead of a third party application. Share this post Link to post

But since 16 bit color mode is terribad, I'm going to use fullscreen and just change the resolution in the ini so it doesn't mess up my dual monitor setup. However, I still have the sound distortion problem. Edited January 14, 2010 by Kataris Share this post Link to post

Kataris 0 Posted January 14, 2010 What sort of sound distortion are you getting? The pitch is very low, and while the video plays at full speed, the sound is slightly delayed from the video, but somehow keeps up so that it's always slightly desynced. The only case of something like this happening is in Fallout 2, and it only happens in the first menu, and the save menu. I haven't tested if it distorts all sounds on my computer yet, as the problem with Fallout 2 does distort all playback. I'm currently using two sound cards, one for playback and one for recording (this is just so that I can use stereo mix to record my voice and other voices over voip software without everything causing an echo). The one that I use for playback is an onboard realtek card (disgusting, I know) on an Asus M2A-VM HDMI motherboard. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted January 14, 2010 I wonder if the multiple audio devices is causing the issue. Does each have input? I assume they do. I'd try disabling the one you use for recording then giving it a try with the onboard audio. I've found that RA2 plays nicer with onboard devices than dedicated ones. Share this post Link to post
Kataris 0 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) I've tried this. It does not make a difference. I'll try using playback on my other sound card to see if it makes a difference. Hopefully it does. Edited January 14, 2010 by Kataris Share this post Link to post
