What is the legal status of Counterstrike and Aftermath?

Recommended Posts

I doubt it. Maybe a gray zone at best.

But is that really going to stop you? ;)

Actually I've got Worldwide Warfare and plan to get both addons' original big boxes. My question is just a curiosity ;)

They released Firestorm as freeware, maybe we could ask someone from EA directly about other addons?

Well, I released the Covert Ops in my C&C95 patch, and EA put a link to my patch on their site, so I guess they don't mind. So I doubt they mind about CS and AM.

According to nathancnc:

You can get all of those off of my site if you wish. And yes, I did get the OK from EA to put these up for download

Covert Ops

Counterstrike

Aftermath

Strictly speaking, I don't think that OK from EA is legally binding or have undergone much consideration by EA management. I would assume that it was Apoc who gave the ok. But really, I don't think they care either. :hand::talker:

An OK is an OK until they say otherwise ain't it? :P

I don't think it's freeware, legally speaking, but I don't really think they care either.

And that's why it's called "abandonware" :P

I just realized that this subforum has a typo.

It is named "Red Alert / Countersike / Aftermath".
