Malevolence 6 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Just found something interesting. http://www.conveythis.com/translation.php I tried to translate "Command And Conquer" in 56 languages and back. Guess what did I get? "Law that queen." Next... "Kane Lives In Death" ...56 translations later we get: "Mccain Days" Then... "For king and country" ...56 translations later we get: "The king and the clown." Lastly... "One vision. One purpose. Peace Through Power!" ...56 translations later we get: "Long - term goals of the world!" And something absolute random... "Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh! Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh! Caught in a bad romance Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh! Oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh! Caught in a bad romance Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah! Roma-Roma-ma-ah! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la! Want your bad romance Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah! Roma-Roma-ma-ah! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!" ...56 translations later we get: "A, a, a, a, a! A, a, a? A, a, a, a, love! He - his boss - he - he - tristshat it! Note the block, yeah, yeah! Rome, Missouri, Virginia, Georgia, there, oh, no, no! Crime and nothing more romantic, no, no, no, bear! RAM! Film: "Oh, no, no!" Lol! Post your interesting silly translations here! Nyerguds 100 Posted August 17, 2010 "Hello world!" --> "Welcome" ... okay this is messed up. "f*** you" --> "children" lol. On to song lyrics... "I wanna take you on a roller coaster" --> "I won." (btw, to clear up confusion, the first translations DID change that to "I want to") Video games... "I'm Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate!" --> "Bird activity and win!" Share this post Link to post

Nyerguds 100 Posted August 19, 2010 "somebody set up us the bomb" --> "Ball in October" Odd switches: Italian switched it from "Set bomb" to "September bomb" Serbian switched it from September to October, lol. "We hunt for the Red October!" stayed relatively good... it went to "We are looking for Red October!". And then it came to Japanese, which messed up "Red October" to a phonetic mess. The end result was "Reddookutoba our eyes." Share this post Link to post

Inferno 22 Posted August 20, 2010 I'm guessing it takes out the words it can't translate? Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 289 Posted August 21, 2010 I'm guessing it takes out the words it can't translate? I don't believe so... I tried one with Chronosphere in it and the word, while spelled differently by the end, was still there. I didn't post that one because other than pulling "Golden gate bridge" out of nowhere, it wasn't particularly interesting. Share this post Link to post

Nyerguds 100 Posted August 21, 2010 As I said, it usually messes up on Japanese. If the word doesn't exist in traditional Japanese, the Japs just use a phonetic equivalent. And Google Translate ALWAYS seems to fail at 'translating' those back to English. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 289 Posted August 22, 2010 56 languages isn't good enough! I feel the need to make it worse, much worse. Therefore, I will translate it 56 times, then the results 56 times, then those results 56 times. Yeah... that ought to do it... "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" ...168 translations later we get: "But the same." Hmm... Share this post Link to post
