Play the Classic Command & Conquer In Your Browser

Recommended Posts

As originally announced at Project Perfect Mod. How would you like to play the original Command & Conquer in your web browser? Ronco is in the very early stages of recreating the game in HTML5, allowing it to run in a modern web browsers like Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Don't even bother trying this with Internet Explorer 9, its not a real browser anyway. Apparently it works best with Chrome.

Click here to give it a test run. Remember this a prototype pre-alpha build, but you can interact with it, control the units and attack. It still needs a lot of work but its a start.

While it's obviously in it's early stages, I'm very impressed by this interesting design. Even the demo is a tough mission to beat. ;)

As if the original TD didn't have tough nuts in its campaign :P

Tried to run it myself in IE8, it stops loading at about 80-85%.

The most difficult thing will be to recreate the AI and the same pathing and behavior of the units that existed in TD. All C&C clones start with map and unit rendering because that's the easy part. :)

Nice work though. I hope it will turn out great!

Well, if this AI won't have that "hunt the forgoten poor northern bastard" feature that will be really cool.

I hope in an advanced mode we could choose new units or new design for old known units. But this is just a wish of a player, disregarding any complexities or restrictions.

Just gave it a go, felt very strange playing such an old RTS again, and yeah the demo isn't a walk in the park either.

Well, so far the enemy doesn't move, so the artillery ensures a flawless victory.
