Zee Hypnotist's Campaign Mod for Yuri's Revenge

Recommended Posts

Guest Rabbit

So, here's another project I'm putting together. It's a campaign mod for Yuri's Revenge. What makes this one special, however, is it will be a full conversion in the sense that I will be changing all the EVA commands and in game videos, along with the maps for single-player.

I wanted to sort of give a little teaser of sorts, and then add in some info of what I'm doing.

So, here's the first mission briefing of the Allied campaign. I recommend you watch it in the highest settings that your internet can handle.

Keep in mind, this is a quick recording, it will all be redone later.

Now, as for the overall campaign. I've yet to work out all the mission details, but the basic premise of the overall game will be this:

The Allied Forces are struck again by the Soviet Military as the Lybians and Iraqis, who's soil remained untouched in the war, have decided to take the battle into their own hands. With the Russians eliminated, the Lybians have sent in the first strike, using all their remaining technology, and leftover Russian equipment. The Iraqis join them very soon in their own battle for control, as the Allies spent all their resources fighting off the Russian threat, and thus, a new war is beginning soon after the first one.

As the Allies, you are essentially expected to defend the United States, then meet up with the European forces to eliminate the nuclear threat that both Lybia and Iraq are bringing to the table.

As the Lybians, you are essentially aiming for the complete destruction of the United States government and the control of the European Union.

I'm not quite sure if I'm really going to put together a Lybian campaign on the pure basis that, well, I just don't have actors for that kind of thing. This might just be an Allied change only.

Lemme know what you think, and feel free to add suggestions.

I'll come up with a list of any help I may need in the future.

Honestly, I can't wait for this!

LMAO, the player wakes up in a room with C&C Legos on the table :D

Oh, when you want to make an HD video for RA2, don't bother. The Bink format just sucks.

If I'm not mistaken, this mod will be the first of it's kind, featuring full videos throughout the game.

In terms of RA2/YR, it is. Looking generally in C&C, you're a little late.

Well that's a pretty neat thing. I'm glad to fill the void with YR though.

This is nothing less than genius, keep it up :D

Because of the difficulty expected in creating videos for a Lybian campaign, I'm considering making the two campaigns as follows:

Domestic: This campaign entails the defense of the different Allied countries

Foreign: This entails the attack against the Libyans and their allies.

What do you guys think?

Meh, you just need the right props. Wrap a guy up in dirty rags so only his eyes show; instant terrorist!

Granted, that guy actually looked like a terrorist even without the mask, but with a little charcoal on the eyebrows and skin, you can pass with a pasty white guy.

Just get a guy who can do accents, and you're good to go.

You need a good director. The Forgotten mod needed one too.

Well I'm cool on the acting and directing, I just would need someone capable of, well, not being me.

You have friends, do you not? What are they for other than manipulating into doing your will?

Of course the friends that are most easily manipulated will inevitably be the worst actors, they will need to be whipped into shape.

As for directing, it depends on just how much cheese you like. If you want vanilla Yuri's Revenge to look like it was filmed on a multi-billion dollar budget behind the best names in show business, you are doing fine.

The Forgotten mod deserves some respect for the effort they put into making their own FMVs, but the amateurism was, nevertheless, blatantly obvious. Your sample video may have just been a draft, but it appears the Forgotten mod is a par above your work.

You cannot expect to reach the professionalism that a nice-sized budget and equipment can bring, but with the right oversight, you can still accomplish much.

No offense intended by any of that of course.

Oh of course, none taken, I'll accept any advice and criticism you can throw at me, cause for the most part, it's very helpful.

I'm still in the earliest of planning stages now, but as for the video, I plan on throwing in more real backrounds than fake ones. My hope is that I can get an actual military base involved, seeing as how I still have some access to a local reserve station.

That would be a great advancement indeed.

I don't think they'll be very considerate.

Cool project. Looking forward to see the progression.

As for scenery, why don't you map around for some abandoned industrial facilities and factories? I imagine the insides with bare concrete and stuff could easily make it look like a military facility (Oh, and just add some cammo netting and weapons here and there).

Don't have any, really.
