It's red lasers. Nod is red. GDI/Forgotten don't use red lasers (GDI would rather use blue ones).

It's a delay tactic is what it is. Their fans will stop whining for Nod because they know it is coming, but they don't have to release Nod until all the puzzle pieces are revealed.
