C&C:RA2:YR Crashing

Recommended Posts

Guest Piemanpm

So here's my specs before we begin:

CPU: Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz. ODed and Running at 3.5GHz

RAM: 12GB

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Motherboard - ASUS P6T SE

Display: Samsung T220 / TECO TL3291RWAK Duel Monitor on a ATI Radeon HD 6870

I installed C&C:TFD from a image I own because I no longer have the disc. Installed the 1.03 Rev4 patch and tried to play YR and I crash out at random intervals with this, not even finishing the map I'm playing which is Skirmish, Team Alliance, Territorial Imperative. Speed = 6 with this error:

* Edit *

I ran the FD as admin, and set all the .exe's in the RA2 folder to run in compatibility mode with windows XP ( Service pack 3 ) and to " Run as Administrator ". Doing that seemed to solve my problem for a game, then half way through the next game and subsequent games ( within the first 5 - 15 minutes ) crash with the above error. Could anyone please help me?

Start with running them in compatibility mode for Win98, not WinXP (as WinXP also has some issues with it)

Ah right. I will try that now. Cheers dude. Thankfully it's not long till Command & Conquer - The Ultimate Collection is released soon, hopefully they've fixed all the issues with them all.

Ok. Tried running all the .exe's in compatibility mode with Win98 and it didn't make a difference. I noticed a file named gamemdx64.zip so I extracted that and replaced the gamemd.exe that was already in there. I've also tried disabling my AVG and still no luck.

If there's a file called except.txt in your RA2 folder could you upload it?

I doubt they fixed anything. If I know EA right it's just The First Decade + the newer games if it's something else I'll be surprised.

Also have you tried updating your graphics drivers and DirectX?

Seems if I run RA2MD.exe as admin, it doesn't crash. Weird.
