Jarmen Kell to Return in the New Command & Conquer?

Recommended Posts

In a post on their Facebook page, French fansite CNC Saga suggests that the GLA commando, Jarmen Kell, could be back in the next Command & Conquer. This of course is based on some of the new Generals 2 concepts that were posted yesterday.

I guess anything is possible, but its really just guess work for now. You be the judge.

Although this Jarmen Kell look-alike might end up as cut content like many things in the previous C&C games, this does imply a return to the roots. And he looks more badass (but less sneaky).

EDIT: He's referred to as Kell in this video, anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-LBW2jTIJc4

It's not like he was an actual character in Gen1. It's just a name with some nostalgia attached, really.

Actually, it is him. 100% confirmed. If you watch the Dam explosion video, the other GLA General, Dankel, or Danko, whatever his name is, actually mentions his full name.

There is also reference to an Asian Pact/Asian Protectorate Army General who's name is pronounced "Jao". I believe this is how "Zhao" would be pronounced, if it isn't actually how "Tao" is pronounced in Chinese. If it is the latter, then it could be the famous Chinese General from Zero Hour?

Are you actually implying that China is/was considered as a faction in Gens2 as well? :o

The third faction is called the "APA". I suspect it's something like "Asian Protectorate Army" or "Asian Pact Army", if not the "Asia-Pacific Army". And they refer to one of it's Generals as "Zhao" (just checked, that IS how Zhao it is pronounced in Chinese), and in one video, you can see the GLA rogue General killing a General or Officer that speaks in an Japanese or Chinese accent and lays out his sword to his enemies before admitting defeat. He also speaks of honor. Not to mention the rogue GLA General kills him and asks his troops to fire on the remaining soldiers to draw them into the reactor (Chinese Nuclear Reactor, anyone?) so he can blow it up and kill them all together.

If so, China could be back for Gens 2 or the C&C F2P.

Of course China will return, but, as Alex said, it's better to return under a generic name such as Asian Protectorade Army in order to avoid problems with governments like Generals and Zero Hour had.

Errr.... Generals 1 was banned in China not because China was a playable faction, but because you had to destroy the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong and the Three Gorges Dam, as well as use nukes liberally and suffer a nuke yourself in Beijing as China. Also, trivia: the Asian Pact was China's name in the German censored re-release.

Yeah, but if you don't call it China, or the monuments you are obliterating by their actual names, you can probably get away with it.

That's kinda what Banshee said, no? Gen1 had those problems because of the name(s) attached to the faction/actions, not the actions or names alone. If they had used generic naming, there wouldn't have been the problem.

Which is exactly what happened with Red Alert 2 (Paris Tower instead of Eiffel Tower) and Generals 1 in Germany (Asian Pact, which is how I guessed that the 3rd faction would be named the same way in Gen 2 (Gen 2? Sounds awkward to say...)).

For the Eiffel Tower, it is a little different. The use of the name and design are protected by copyright. EA didn't pay.

:haha:

On a side note, anyone noticed the RA2 Paris Tower actually has 3 legs instead of 4?
