Sonic 295 Posted August 2, 2013 So my little Samsung phone has been getting a bit scratched up on the screen in the past 2-3 months, generally making it look ugly. So for the past week I started looking at a new one. Looked at some of the Windows 8 phones, but in the end I went for a shiny new black iPhone 5. Probably more than I need really but exploring the world of "apps" is rather fun We all know what they look but here's a pic anyway.... Spent most of my Friday afternoon/evening learning how to use it, its impressively intuitive to use. A clever (and nice looking) app, Light https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/id379753015?mt=8 Use your iPhone like a torch... genius Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 2, 2013 Hey I thought long and hard about getting this. Very pleased with it. Due to is ease of use I can see myself using it more and more. So much more than my old Samsung. Plus its true what they say, Apple products just have s feeling of quality about them, this iPhone feels and looks awesome. The 8 mega-pixel/1080P camera is better than my Sony Cybershot camera, so I'll probably sell that along with my my old Samsung phone soon. Share this post Link to post
neogrant 4 Posted August 2, 2013 A clever (and nice looking) app, Light https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/id379753015?mt=8 Use your iPhone like a torch... genius You'll be pleased to know iOS7 has a built in light, so no need for an app! In general, iOS7 rocks anyway (in a beta at the moment) Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 2, 2013 Well I was having lunch with a female "friend" of mine on Friday, she has the iPhone 4S, she showed me that Light app, made me laugh so I had to have it Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted August 2, 2013 You bought an Iphone... Eww... Apple.... The closet thing to a smart phone I have is my tablet, which is awesome. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted August 2, 2013 Oh, come on, Sonic. You said before you did not like buying an Apple product. You could have gone for a Samsung Galaxy S4 because that's what many people like to use. It has more purpose and functionality than an iPhone. Share this post Link to post
neogrant 4 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) Those samsung "phones" are just turning into huge phone tablets! Edited August 2, 2013 by neogrant Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 3, 2013 Oh, come on, Sonic. You said before you did not like buying an Apple product. I don't ever recall saying that. Maybe your just making **** up for no reason. You could have gone for a Samsung Galaxy S4 because that's what many people like to use. It has more purpose and functionality than an iPhone. Looked at them, they looked ok but I kept going back to the iPhone 5. Like I said before the iPhone felt like it was a better quality product compared to others I looked at. While we are on the subject here... I've browsed the main site and these forums on the iPhone, main site is not so good, well its bad really. There are plans in motion to fix that and give the main site mobile support. But the forums are already set for it. Perhaps many of you guys have noticed that before. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted August 4, 2013 The forums could default to mobile but short of that, it works. And lol... an iPhone. They're not even that great. I'd take an Android over anything iOS powered. I do like my Windows Phone though. 1 Share this post Link to post
neogrant 4 Posted August 4, 2013 Android, malware/virus, have fun with that... I've heard good things with the Windows phone though. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 4, 2013 The forums could default to mobile but short of that, it works. Yeah that's what it does. Anyone who goes to http://forums.cncnz.com on their mobile device will see the IP.Board Mobile theme. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted August 4, 2013 Not mine. It loads whatever theme I have chosen on my account. Share this post Link to post
neogrant 4 Posted August 5, 2013 If you're on your mobile, change the theme to mobile (or use mobile version). It shouldn't change your preferences on your desktop, they should stay separate. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 5, 2013 Yeah that's how it works for me. When browsing the forums here using the desktop PC I see the full theme of course. If I login via the iPhone I see the mobile theme. So I assumed it worked that way everyone else. Share this post Link to post

Like I said before the iPhone felt like it was a better quality product compared to others I looked at. True, the iPhone does have exceptional quality and design, but some issues remain. While its performance, battery life and features are concerned, the iPhone remains a solid great smartphone compared to other smartphones. When the iPhone 5 was first released worldwide, there were issues with the Google Maps app, people saying that it doesn't work, but later it was fixed. Because of intense competition from other smartphone makers (notably Samsung Galaxy, Droid, Android and Windows phones), iPhone sales have started to drop. Doctor Destiny 41 Posted August 8, 2013 If you're on your mobile, change the theme to mobile (or use mobile version). It shouldn't change your preferences on your desktop, they should stay separate. Not for me. If I change the theme on my phone, it applies it to my account and I get mobile on my tower. I just deal with it. Dunno why it doesn't default to mobile while I'm on my phone. Sonic 295 Posted August 8, 2013 I think I've fixed that problem. Based the post you made here, you said you have the Lumia 810 Windows 8 phone right?. I've made a settings change so you should the get mobile theme when your browsing on your phone now and the blue them when your back on the desktop. Share this post Link to post
neogrant 4 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Otherwise it might be something down with your phone settings, if your phone is not using "mobile version" of sites; Edited August 8, 2013 by neogrant Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted August 8, 2013 Hey, check that **** out. It works. Sweet. Thanks. [EDIT] Other mobile sites load fine. It was just this one and Revora... or any IPB based sites. Share this post Link to post
