GTA V PC version to be released in 2014

Recommended Posts

Update (it has been confirmed):

and

I lolled at this.

Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/19/gta-v-pc-petition-hits-470000-signatures

Petition: http://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/rockstar-release-gta-v-on-pc (over 617k signatures already and they got their wish!!)

The big technical problem to release GTA V to PC will be the system requirements and the game's performance (even when ported to PC) and I'll bet it'll be way bigger than Battlefield 4's requirements. Even if anyone wanted GTA V to PC, it must have a Blu-ray disc(s) with it just like the PS3!! But who knows if the ported version to PC will be successful as PC piracy issues continue.

Also....

I'll bet the minimum system requirements for GTA V may be very heavy (just guessing): a quad-core CPU, 4 GB RAM, 1 GB VRAM (probably minimal to high-end GeForce 200 series), the hard drive size of a dual-layer blu-ray disc, Steam and Windows Vista SP2. Guessing for recommended: an octa-core CPU, 16 GB RAM, 4 GB VRAM and Windows 7.

500,000 is not enough, a million signatures will do.

Right, because XBox 360 uses Blu-ray...

There is no need for a petition, they're release a version sooner or later just like every other GTA game.

Yeah, wasn't the PC version of GTA IV released a year after the console ones?

@Nmenth, the system requirements you mentioned are the ones from Max Payne 3, not GTA V.

I couldn't believe now that the petition is increasing to a million signatures required.

You're right, I only skimmed over the article and missed that. I should have paid closer attention, but I guess that shows how little I actually care about this.

Maybe because so many people are too big idiots to know their own game series' history and compare it with the latest game?

Quite. The only GTA games that were on PC before console were the first two. All of the rest that weren't handheld spinoffs have all made in on PC several months after the initial release. It's a trend among franchises to make a port to PC later on to work the bugs out so the transition is more seamless. This petition means sweet **** all.

Definitely. There's PS3 emulators out there.

Whoa, wait a minute. I thought all recent emulators for Xbox and Playstation on a PC at all (regardless of which game(s) it plays on) will not work at all due to no software updates, not unless one has a powerful and fast 8-core CPU to run it well.

See? Told you so.

Where's the logic in that?

not unless one has a powerful and fast 8-core CPU to run it well.

Emulators for post-2000 consoles always use quite a lot of system resources. I'm struggling to avoid lag in a PS2 emulator as much as possible, but I still have, like, 20-30 FPS in average.

Update in the first post.

It's finally happening! ^_^

Now for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of GTA V, in which they have yet to confirm a release date.

Why would they need a release date for consoles that aren't even out yet, especially considering those consoles will more than likely be able to play the XBox 360 and PS3 versions of the game?

Backwards compatibility is not a rule when talking about consoles. For instance, many Xbox games cannot be played on Xbox 360, while some can with issues. Besides, it's good to know if a game will be a launch title or not.

I'd blame Microsoft for their issues with the debacle they've been making of XBox One.

In any case, Rockstar made it clear that they weren't bringing GTA V to PS4 or XBox One. There's really no reason for it, especially considering they're focusing on the PC. If they really wanted to put it on the PS4 or XBox One, they'd likely have delayed the release a few months (since November isn't far away).

I have never seen a legit PS3 or Xbox 360 emulator anywhere.

Considering how long it took for a somewhat working PS2 emulator or even a Sega Saturn emulator we won't be seeing one for a long time.

GTA V is out on PC now... ok so it isn't really but some people are stupid enough to download crazy **** like this and think its legit....

http://kotaku.com/downloading-the-gta-v-pc-torrent-is-18gb-worth-of-ba-1449969173

Downloading the "GTA V PC Torrent" is 18GB Worth of Bad Ideas

ku-bigpic.jpg

About the only thing I can see that's wrong with this diabolical plot is the fact suckers have to download an 18GB torrent before the malware is unleashed. Otherwise, there's a bogus torrent of Grand Theft Auto V's nonexistent PC version that's claimed several victims of late.

It bears mentioning one should not download this. But as none of us would ever do something this dumb, it's fun to have a laugh, right? The site WCCFTech reports that the thing comes with a legit-looking installer and a realistic 18 GB setup file. Once a user gets to the registration window, users are sent to a page where they are forced to perform surveys in order to get the key.

Malware that exploits a popular game is a time-honored trick, even if the game hasn't been released yet. (Google Titanfall PC Torrent and you'll get rickrolled). This one sticks out because of the effort victims have to put forth in getting the malware. Cognitive dissonance up the wazzoo, I guess, is why they do it. You google "GTA V PC Torrent" and you find sites with people complaining about slow download speeds in the comments. This thing even has a Facebook page, which went up on August 1. Seems legit.

While everyone is speculating that a GTA V version for PC is a matter of when, not if, for now such a thing exists only in the minds of half-a-zillion petition signers.

Psh. I've seen fake (and, I believe, password-protected) Generals 2 July 2012 builds on torrent sites, this is nothing.
