This is the closest Half-Life 2 Episode 3 game yet so far

I remember the unofficial fake HL2 EP3 maps released several years ago.

 

Even this infamous April Fool's joke was still on the site (notice the letter t was added to steam):

But now one HL2 modder decided to do the impossible that Valve couldn't do, and that is the unofficial HL2 EP3 game mod called The Closure: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-closure

 

Release date has not been announced, but screenshots and a video were there and I am certain that mod won't be cancelled unless it goes DOA.

 

 

 

But also, did you know there was a HL2 EP4 as well but it was later cancelled?

Looks like one month left for the unofficial release of HL2 EP3 long before Valve could realize they never created this: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-closure/news/half-life-2-episode-3-release-info/

 

It's about nine years since HL2 EP2 was released and now comes the unofficial HL2 EP3. It's late, but it's better than Valve giving nothing to the HL fanbase.
