It is most likely he doesn't recognize the medium as a form of art. Do you think he is the next Jack Thompson? Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted August 26, 2014 Crazy people are crazy, best to just ignore them, giving them attention is the worst thing you can do. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted August 26, 2014 That guy was fine until he started blaming video games. And he forgets that many people are mentally ill or developmentally disabled who play video games of all types to help them cope with their lives or their problems. I happen to be one of those mentally ill, developmentally disabled people he's talking about and my favorite game franchise is Call of Duty. I don't want to go on a killing spree. Video games are not the root of the problem. Our violence loving, celebrity worshipping American culture is the bigger problem. Mental illness is another big issue in the US since it's got a really bad stigma that needs to go. People with mental health problems should never be afraid of getting help for it. Speaking from experience, it only gets worse if you ignore it. And speaking from a personal standpoint, video games kept me alive. Without them and my family, I would have committed suicide by now. In short, stop placing blame on the wrong target. It takes away from the real issues at heart. Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted August 26, 2014 If anything, video games could be the product of a safer society. Historically, people have had to fight for everything. Land, belief, resources, or just plain dominance. We live in a world where we are going against our human instinct by living in an orderly fashion with little conflict, with everything we really need delivered to us to our supermarkets, discount stores, etc. In some ways I think being able to play a video game that allows you to kill something is probably helping to prevent people from killing things for real. The adrenaline rush that comes from an online game is a rather inexpensive way to experience a tiny bit of something that humans have needed to keep themselves prospering for thousands of years.
