Rieu 0 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) I just did a clean install of Windows 7. I installed all my drivers and programs, and am now trying to play C&C Generals Zero Hour. Every time I try to launch it, I get the following error.generals.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedury entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic link library dbghelp.dll. Every time I click the OK button, it closes the one I clicked on and opens another one. I literally have to open task manager and force close generals.exe I have never seen this error before, and even though I tried searching for information on it, I am unable to find anything specific to this program. Plok 323 Posted March 25, 2015 Patch TFD to version 1.03 rev4. Manually install DirectX 9.0c from here (or, if it doesn't work, from here). My experience contradicts allegations I've heard that DX9 is installed on Win7/8. Make sure you're running the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3 and as administrator. Report back if it still happens. 1 Share this post Link to post
Rieu 0 Posted March 26, 2015 Awesome. You are right that windows 7 and 8 both do not come with DX 9. It is considered obsolete. That was the issue. Once I had 9, it worked like a charm. Thanks so much. +1 Share this post Link to post
Lauren 78 Posted April 19, 2015 Not quite correct. Generals doesn't even use DX9. Iirc it uses DX8.1, which is considered obsolete, but is contained in the DX9.0c installer. Share this post Link to post
Karaya 1 0 Posted May 27, 2016 Hello there. This is the only place where i could find this particular problem. I have reinstalled the game 3 times. I Installed DX9c from the links provided. I can not start the game. At all. Always the same error : The procedury entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic link library dbghelp.dll. I tried getting the dbghelp.dll from a friend. It worked until like 2 hours ago, a friend and i wanted to try playing Zero Hour again. We had a problem where one of us would always not load into the game, so we tried to fix that. At some point i tried to run the game as administrator, and thats when this problem first appeared. I just dont know what else to try, from what i gathered, it seems like i wont be able to play Generals ever again, seeing that reinstalling it and DX doesnt solve the problem. I would be happy for any help that could be provided. Karaya 1 Share this post Link to post
Plok 323 Posted May 28, 2016 Check if your Zero Hour installation has created the Options.ini in C:\Users\[YOUR NAME]\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data , and if not, fill it with this: http://forums.cncnz.com/topic/12319-how-to-play-generals-zero-hour-in-windows-7-x64/ Share this post Link to post
