Fandore 1 Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) Hello all, i have been working like mad resolving quite a lot to our mod, Tiberium Secrets, the community has really helped point me in the right direction so i would like to thank the very helpful community here! anyways, i am reading through the are pipeline and have gotten to the point in making a basic infantry, the mesh is done so i made a bipedal skeleton as the art pipline teaches, the bones are named properly and the mesh's XForm has been reset. i put the Westwood Skin(WWS) in the scene (the thing that looks like two bones crossed) and selected it, added all the proper bones in the WWS menu and linked the WWS to the mesh. this was done properly, i went to the select tool and clicked the mesh, the mesh is now followed up by all the verticies showing at one time. now, from what i read, you are suppose to select these by its parts and link them to the bones, in this case a hand, so i select all the verticies to the hand, click the link to bone, and try to link the verticies to the bone hand, but this is where it go's wrong, i hear an error message and appears to not work. is there a special way this has to be done? or am i not reading this right?. if you have any idea what this problem is related too or have any information or even know someone who might, please direct them here, I'd be glad to put some pictures up for better clarity if needed. Thank you. Edited October 31, 2015 by Fandore Share this post Link to post
Stygs 25 Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) If you linked the WWSkin correctly to the model, a "WWSkin Binding" modifer should appear in the list on the right side of the screen after selecting the mesh. Click on the "+" before the name and the "Verticles" option should show up. Use this to select the verticles, then use the setting on the right side of the screen to link them. In theory, you can also use a normal Skin modifer and convert it to WWSkin afterwards. Edited October 31, 2015 by Stygs Share this post Link to post
Ravendark 43 Posted October 31, 2015 Also check if the modifier is there, that error message sound is just bad choice by the devs on what notification chime they used to indicate the process worked. It isnt really an error..in my experience if the wwskin thing goes wrong it freezes max and you have to restart max...it doesnt really give an error. Share this post Link to post
Fandore 1 Posted November 1, 2015 i decided to put a picture up to show the problem better... i do have the proper mod selected and the verts highlighted properly, i show the link to bone in red to show that i do select all the verts and hit this button, then i click the bone. this is suppose to link the verts to the bone correct? the problem im having is that it makes an error sound. i tried to put the animation reel to 1 and hit the autokey on. i then tried to move the bone and scrolled a frame to about 10 seconds. this should animate the mesh but it dose not... am i not doing this right? Madin 10 Posted November 1, 2015 That is the sound it makes when it is binding your selected vertices to the bone you've clicked. That sound means you are doing the right thing! Share this post Link to post
Fandore 1 Posted November 1, 2015 ok i got it resolved, you have to unselect the modifier, then hit autokey and move it up to one sec. then move the bone... its working right Share this post Link to post
