Sonic 292 Posted April 7, 2016 Another new Star Wars movie due for release this December. The first trailer has arrived. Looks damn good. As this movie is set before Star Wars IV: A New Hope, Darth Vader is rumoured to be in this. Share this post Link to post
Lauren 77 Posted April 8, 2016 Basically killed any hope for the people who'd hoped to see Thrawn to return to canon. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted April 8, 2016 Looked great, but upon reflection it seems unnecessary to have another female lead... I know that sounds sexist... but she doesn't seem that different from Rey's character in the glimpse we have here. Just seems redundant... Luke and Han are clearly different characters. Couldn't the new female character be different as well? And the death star... again. What are we... a One trick pony? I would have preferred a SSD. Still... DONNIE YEN! Boo-YAH! PurpleGaga27 37 Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Meh, not interested. It appears Disney is trying to bring in more British talent and accent in the new Star Wars series. As for Donnie Yen, he doesn't quite fit in this section, even if he was Ip Man. Edited April 8, 2016 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted April 9, 2016 This looks much better than Force Awakens which I thought was pretty bland. Not bad, but bland. That being said, I agree with Gben, enough with the damn death stars. Speaking of female leads, I'd like to see a female Sith for once. Meh, not interested. It appears Disney is trying to bring in more British talent and accent in the new Star Wars series. You dislike accents? That seems, like an odd reason to hate the film, but to each his own. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 292 Posted April 10, 2016 That being said, I agree with Gben, enough with the damn death stars. I don't think the Death Star will be centre of attention that much in this movie. Anyway, the Death Star kinda has to be there since this is set after Episode III and before Episode IV. Some cool fan art here.... Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted April 11, 2016 I think I would have enjoyed this death star tie-in, if there wasn't one in TFA... Still... DONNIE YEN! Boo-YAH! EDIT: When thinking about Donnie Yen recently I went looking at some of his great fights. This one with Jet Li, where the fight was in their minds first. To me, it seems like how they should have 'enhanced' the 'A New Hope' fight scene with Obi and Anni. Maybe the fans will do it justice one day... Of course... there is this explanation as well... Plok 319 Posted August 12, 2016 The new trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One is out. Will definitely be checking it out in December, and I expect a good and enjoyable film. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 37 Posted August 12, 2016 (edited) Watched it last night via NBC Olympics. Since it looks more like the pre-quel to Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope, I pass on watching this movie until Star Wars Episode 8. Edited August 12, 2016 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Ravendark 43 Posted August 12, 2016 Since it looks more like the pre-quel to Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope, I pass on watching this movie until Star Wars Episode 8. Why wouldn't you watch a prequel to E4 untill E8 comes out? They aren't connected. Rogue one is purely about the theft of the death star plans prior to the "first" SW movie. Sonic 292 Posted August 12, 2016 Since it looks more like the pre-quel to Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope Seriously? Really? Come on man Anyway. I got what I wanted to see. The brief Vader tease at the end. Movie looks good. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted August 14, 2016 At least this looks half original, unlike the Force Awakens which was just bland. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 292 Posted December 14, 2016 So anyone planning on going out to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story over the next few days, or week, or more? I'm going Friday night. For those who are seeing it sooner than others, please don't post any spoilers about it and ruin it. Use the spoiler tags if simply must talk about it. Share this post Link to post
Plok 319 Posted December 14, 2016 I hope to see it within this week or so. Episode VII brought me optimism for the franchise, I can't stand the wait anymore. Share this post Link to post
AZ-Stalker 88 Posted December 15, 2016 To be honest I'm way more excited to see the latter part of this season of SW Rebels. But I like how Rogue One ties in to the Rebels animated series and even back to The Clone Wars series with things like one of the old side characters returning as one of the main cast in the movie. So that's something I'm interested in seeing play out. Though I prefer the clone war timeline primarily, so I'm not much of a Vader fan nor the post-Republic era, it's just another movie for me. Lauren 77 Posted December 16, 2016 I saw it yesterday and I really liked it. Music felt weird at first but later it all came together. Also the most awesome last 5-10 minutes in a movie ever! Because of the reshoots basically 60% of the trailers aren't in the movie which is kinda sad because you wait for them. Basically all the awesome scenes where stuff explodes and people do backflips and stuff. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 292 Posted December 16, 2016 Great movie. A true Star Wars story. Epic space battles with plenty of ships. Felt a bit unfamiliar with some of the characters at first but I guess that was just me. Overall I think it was better than The Force Awakens. The final Darth Vader scene was probably the pay off for hardcore fans. Seeing him bathed in evil red light from his sabre was awesome. And watching him slaughter those Rebel soldiers was a true highlight. Share this post Link to post

Basically all the awesome scenes where stuff explodes and people do backflips and stuff. Not really a spoiler, more of a sad situation with movies nowadays. The Force Awakens didn't have the scene shown in the trailer with Kylo Ren turning his lightsaber on prior to his fight with Finn and Rey. Share this post Link to post
Ravendark 43 Posted December 18, 2016 Saw it last night. Wasn't a bad movie. Just felt rushed, like a lot of it didn't make the final cut. Also the character with the most personality and being relatable was the droid K-2.Cassian was a waste of screen space/time period. donny yen's character could've had alot more dept to it besides the stereotypical blind monk thing he had going.felicity Jones felt solid as Jyn Erso, were as her love interest/counter part Cassian andor felt wasted. She felt and looked more confident as a female lead compared to Daisy Ridley's performance imho. Mads Mikkelson felt underused as well...felt like he got the Sean Bean treatment in this film...he was there to die...that was so early telegraphed. The CGI Tarkin and leia had me chuckle tho, pure fanboy porn there together with the darth vader parts. All in all i left with the feeling that a good hour or so of film was missing, but not a bad movie. When i got home i watched the force awakens on netflix...just to finish of my SW movie night ..sort of. After i watched that one i came to the conclusion: The force awakens is something i should've watched only once in the theater then forget about it. A second time around it is just boring and weird. Rogue one gives me the same feeling i think. Saw it once, was good night out...but if i ever watch it again at home i'll spend most of the time dissecting it and regretting it. Nyerguds 100 Posted December 19, 2016 K-2 was played by Alan Tudyk. Love that guy Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted December 20, 2016 Loved it... seven samurai with a xmen: days of future past vibe. A lot of people complain about the lack of character development, but apart from the slow Mads scene and their weird Forrester over-acting... I thought it was great. I thought Tarkin was really well done, compared with Tron's attempt. I was under-whelmed by Darth's corridor scene... and his lame dad joke. The whole beach scene was very exciting.I really loved the unnecessary cameos. Share this post Link to post
Chimas 7 Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Always remember - it's just my opinions. 1 - Great movie, any SW fan should watch it; 2 - It's inevitable to compare it to Force Awakens. If FA is the 7th episode, then I don't have much enthusiasm with Ep8 and Ep9. I think they can make a SW Stories phase and give us more stories like Rogue One; 3 - The best Droid is in this movie; 4 - SW franchise has a tradition in bad character development, but JYN ERSO is one of the best, just happened to had a bad timing in the SW storyline (i.e. the lack of originality due to the previous FA, which was not original too); 5 - I blame JJ for FA; 6 - Strike craft in this movie seems to be the most useful in all episodes. You still know when they will die, but the pace is fast enough. They have more tactical behavior instead of a screen loaded with jets just annoyingly pewing around. One joke: never let the Rebel Alliance knows an intel on a base because an insta-strike will be issued right away, they are like piranhas!; 7 - Also about space combat, the perspective of ships in space engaging seemed to get better in this movie than any other. Big things have grandiosity and small things are fast and agile; 8 - I have a general feeling that when things are going to get too good they are contained, as if they can't be greater compared to similar things in other episodes; 9 - The little creatures here and there have more sense of purpose too; 10 - Keeping the 70s style of the design of screens, panels and controls is a good call. 11 - DeathStar was not necessary in the second strike, as well as the snow walkers; 12 - That Orbital faciliy was cool, but it seems to be too small for its duty. Some stations (targets) could have been floating around; 13 - That first blow is really cool; 14 - That constant planet switching in the beginning as a base to tell the story is a bit annoying, you have to be paying a Edited December 22, 2016 by Chimas Share this post Link to post
TaxOwlbear 20 Posted December 21, 2016 The first half was a bit slow (basically the main character being handcuffed four (?) times), but the second half was spectacular. Not bad at all. Share this post Link to post
