What is causing the edges of things to look pixelated in Half Life 2?

I don't know anything about the technical side of graphics cards and rendering technology :'(

This only seems to happen with character models when I'm close to them. I don't think it should look like this, even on the lowest settings.

Um... do you know what anti-aliasing is?

Thanks. There's a few different terms like anti-aliasing which are commonly used in PC games. I've never had a proper gaming PC so I don't know the basics - I've always had consoles.

lol On consoles aliasing is worse as the resolution is ****tier.

AA can be quite demanding. Since the difference between high levels of AA (e.g. 8x vs. 16x) is noticeable but not as critical as, say, shadows, console games are more likely to have low AA.
