Starcraft 2 WOL will be now free-to-play except expansion packs

Recommended Posts

Blizzard was nice enough to make the original Starcraft 1 free to download except for its remastered version. Now they are even nicer enough to make its sequel free-to-play as well coming Nov. 14th. The original F2P release of Starcraft 2 was the starter edition involving playing 5 demo missions and unlimited mods and skirmishes for no cost.

However if you own the original though and you don't own expansion packs, you can get Heart of the Swarm expansion for free but not Legacy of the Void which still requires a cost. Both expansions are still set at the cost of $14.99 USD.

My reaction:

Yay for Blizzard, but **** EA for not making RA2 free-to-play for a long time coming.
