EA and Micro Transactions

Recommended Posts

So after all the Battlefront II scumbagery  that EA did with Micro Transactions some Patents have been found to mess with our game play again.

For me i hope that they don't find a way to mess with RTS games. i don't buy Micro Transactions i do DLC when it is story based but Shortcut Kits Skin Packs or even stupid pay to win i don't buy.
But messing around with Matchmaking based on buying micro transactions is a D**k Move. this is one of the few times it should be balanced unless in a tournament mode and they you are asking for more unbalance.

The existence of a patent means nothing. People are just jumping aboard the EA hate train at any opportunity.

Them publishing an idea, or submitting a patent like Activision did recently, doesn't mean they'll actually use it.

This is old hat. They're going to do anything to bait you into buying. Most people are going to be immune to it but it will effectively target the two primary groups the most: the whales and little Timmy with mommy's credit card.

i do feel that EA do bring it upon them self sometimes.  certinly not helping out at the moement with the Battlefront Issue.  but yes to patent somthing doesnt mean they will use it. but  it also does put an potentual intent there as well. my only issue i see here is it falls a little into the casino way of getting people loose a few times win big then repeat... that also might explain why it is not in use... i just found it interesting. and yes not every one will fall into those traps.

Seriously, Battlefront 2 is fine. Since it's release star cards make no significant difference in your ability to dominate or get rekt. Beta values were different, sure, but that's what balance patches are for. Most star cards are also specializations, they replace a skill or make it slightly better, so like for example do you want a fancy impact grenade which does some damage (only kills Specialists anyway) or do you want an anti vehicle rocket launcher which does nothing vs infantry.

In the pre launch week I played vs someone who seemed to have purchased a lot of crates (his character level was 50 while most people's level was ~4 at the time), and he was one of the worst players I've ever seen.

Need for Speed's progression is a joke, but Battlefront 2 really is fine.

I certainly do. Also since when is unlocking a character a bad thing? It's not like that hadn't been in games for ~20 years.

Basically all people who complain about that are entitled whiners who can't even be bothered to unlock something by just playing the game.
